Status update #29 2025

I'll stay very brief this time:

I'm alive, just mostly absorbed in my current occupation plus deciding what to do afterwards in my life, so writing juice reserves are at an all time low

Generally speaking, nothing changes in terms of priorities for my fanwork stuff.

So with all of that said, current multi-chapter statuses are:

The Butterfly Bane is being worked on. Next chapter has about 1-2k words left, before re-editing. Won't say how long it'll take, but it's indeed my main priority.

Pacifica over Yonder is still up next on my 'to be updated' list. The writing block responsible for leaving this story without updates for so long is also the same one that makes things difficult with the chapter that is supposed to be written right now. Hopefully when this one is posted, future chapters will be easier to work on.

Time Woes with a Pinch of Frogs and The Powerpuff Legacy are still on a long-term hiatus.

Still working every now and then on the Tales of the Queens of Mewni stories. I started rewriting from scratch the Crescenta/Emily one, while I've begun working on a new one featuring Alphonse and Eclipsa with the theme of sickness.

A few one-shots unrelated to the fandoms I've posted for in the past (games) may come up in the next month or two. They're essentially attempts at trying to get back into action with fandoms that I've gotten to experience recently. Won't share them here, but that's the reason why things may take a while longer for the on-going projects listed above.

Not going to give up on this hobby yet. I guess that, uh... these things... they take time.

I often remember Solaria was a child once too , makes me wonder how she was and how she grew to harbor so much hate. I really wished they explored her character more, even in the book:(

Finally finished an artwork with two of my biggest interests interacting together through music! 🎤🎸🎶

Like I have literal headcanons for them if they would ever interact:

Rayman and Hat Kid would bond well until Hat Kid gets chaotic and Rayman feels like a big brother annoyed with her antics and tries to keep her away from danger

Conductor and Globox could bond with dealing TOO MANY kids, though i don't know how else they can relate beyond it. I literally think Conductor would find Globox so annoying (like DJ Grooves COUGH COUGH) but maybe they also bond though their drinks?

and Betilla with Snatcher could have nice conversations about being parents themselves, well more like Betilla telling Snatcher that he should be proud of being kinda of parental figure for Hat Kid and just overall so sweet and wholesome conversation I'M SO NORMAL ABOUT IT AAAAAAASFUHIFSU 💓💖 💕 💥 🔥 i so badly wanna make ahit mod with of the concept hat kid meeting rayman...

Status update #28 2024: end and new

hi, I guess

Seriously, I'll stay brief since I know these posts are mostly for future reference than anything else. Real life has become even more energy-draining than it already was, which means that my writing energy in particular has reached an all time low. I basically managed to finish up my latest fan story 'Someone from Afar' right after last New Year's Eve by marathoning during the holidays something that I had essentially worked on a little bit every now and then since the start of the same year, but once into 2024, things just kept piling up.

So, this will continue for the time being. Just to make an example, right now I'm even out of my home country, which means stress and even less energy... or maybe more chance to focus on writing because I have less ways to get distracted? ...huh.

Well, we shall see. But this post is essentially just what is slowly becoming the yearly post in this blog to show future people who might visit this blog that I'm still out there, just not as active as I used to. Hopefully I'll manage to get something out in the near future.

As for status updates on stories, I have already shared my newest crossover fic 'You Don't Want to Know' in a separate post, as a kind of chaperone to this status update. Due to my lack of news for everything else, the latest status update is still valid, but just for clarity.

'You Don't Want to Know' has been posted!

Crossover fanfic: Amphibia (cartoon) x Crash Bandicoot (video game series). Set specifically in parallel to early Season 2 events of Amphibia, and right after a specific scene during the main ending of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About TIme.

Summary: After his latest defeat, Cortex ends up where he isn't supposed to. What looks like a chance for hatching a new devious plan quickly backfires when his path crosses with the one of a certain energetic young girl. Much to his annoyance at first… but maybe it'll still a better case than having to deal with those wretched bandicoots.

Note: this story is a 11K words long one-shot.

This story has taken quite a great time for me to write down. Like many ideas in the past, what happened is that I ended up doing a first draft of the story that I really liked but found myself unable to give it a proper follow-up to finish it up. Unlike other stories where I simply ended up dropping or archiving these half-finished ideas, though, I never could bring myself to do the same for this one for a variety of reasons.

As a result, this is one of the longest-lived story ideas I ever worked on, which if I recall correctly I first tried putting down into words in... early 2022. Maybe even late 2021. Wow. Like I said in the ANs in the story itself... I guess that the premise itself, as much crack-y and weird as it is, was something that I could not bring myself to abandon, even if I was a bit burned out - especially last year.

Besides, I missed trying my hand at humour fic writing.

I don't think that the story is perfect, but I do believe that the current version is the best I can do to in order to bring the premise to reality. Hopefully readers end up having fun with, but if nothing else, I'm just glad that the story does now exist in a complete form.

Hopefully this doesn't sound excessive. I rarely gush, but I thought that if there are a few moments every now and then when I can affording gushing about the stuff I like that I happen to find on the web, then this is one of them.

Some longer thoughts below the break, but all things considered I can say that I fucking loved this fancomic and everything revolving around it, and it was the absolute highlight of my day every time I could find the time to sit down and read the newer chapter, for all chapters and consistently from all the three years of its run. If you ever read this, thank you stargaazer (and co-author), thank you very much for sharing your work - you made this random guy on the internet happy.

Abby is absolutely my favourite Hilda fanwork, which maybe isn't even much to say since I've unfortunately haven't had the chance to read a lot of fanworks for the shows I love in the past few years. It is also, however, one of my favourite fanworks period, across all fandoms, and this thought only got stronger after every new chapter.

I don't want to write a novel here, so to start things off going point by point, this comic did essentially everything I like in fanworks all in one go. Compelling and fun characters? Done. Character development throughout it all, often exploring diffent sides of said characters? Done. Having some fun with the worldbuilding, creating all new stuff or making interesting changes upon the foundation provided by the canon? Done.

Most of all, I absolutely love how the story took the shape of an epic of sorts to an extent, narrating various chapters in Abby and Lir's lives (and the lives who those with whom they crossed paths) while still sticking to them and their relationships, in both highs and lows. Shucks, I don't generally even read romance stories, I just tend to enjoy them but never look for them myself, but by chapter 3 I was already engrossed in these two and upon seeing that scene in the final chapter (before the epilogue) I was basically clapping at my desktop.

So yes: Abby and Lir's story is the spotlight and well-deservedly so, and all of that while at the same time there were a moltitude of interesting characters to learn about, ranging from the bestests of friends (and family) to the most conflicting (or even malevolent) of figures.

Overall: this comic was a blast and it was NEVER boring for even a single moment. I teared up, I got emotional, I laughed, I was on the edge of my seat multiple times, and this evening after seeing the final page, I am just smiling being content that I lived for long enough to discover this thing and enjoy it from start to finish.

Oh well... maybe I am a bit exaggerating with the reaction lol - but the underlying message, about the comic being great, still stands and that's the important part.

So yeah, thanks for the authors, to stargazer and her co-author (sorry, I couldn't find your internet nickname if you have one) for writing this story. I'll likely check out the novel version again in the future to revisit this tale in antoher form, for sure, and keep an eye for any future work from you. Thank you again, very very much!

And for everyone else: please give this comic a chance if you haven't already done so if you have watched Hilda. It is absolutely worth your time.

On another note, I sincerely thank all of you who took the time to read my silly comic about a goofy minor character from the show. Writing this story helped me through some hard times in the past few years- which only strengthened my love for the character.

Abigail the goofy ghost pirate came to symbolize comfort for me and writing her story provided a cozy escape. Even now that her story is over, she'll always have a special place in my heart. So...
