Yullian always tries to avoid fighting, preferring to negotiate and help people get along with each other. Ultraman Cosmos admires her for that reason. Yullian has managed to convince monsters to leave cities alone, convinced alien warlords to colonise an empty planet instead of invading one where people already live, and taught a tribe of Pigmons to make their own pink balloons.

If she absolutely must, Yullian can still fight. And she excels at it.

My Ultraman game is now live!

This is a labor of love for the last two years or so, making a game that replicates New Generation Ultraman as best I can. It's a tabletop RPG that lets you play as either a Giant Hero or a Kaiju, building your character with what powers you like best!

It's filled with little nods and easter eggs for fans of the series, but it also breaks down how those stories work so you can jump right in if you're not familiar.

Proposals for Ultraman's Actual Name

Shin. It's unclear whether he'd prefer to go by "Ultraman Shin" or "Shin Ultraman", so people just call him Ultraman.

Michael. It's a nice name, and it would fit the nomenclature of his definitely-canonical wife Meg and their children Mel and Makun.

His name is just Man, which would make his full name "Ultraman Man".

Lipia, because it turns out Hideaki Anno Hideaki An-knows what he's talking about.

No-one actually knows Ultraman's name. Not even he knows his name. Rather than worrying about it, he just goes by Ultraman.

He was called Dan, but out of respect to Ultraseven he stopped using that name.

His first name is Ultra and his surname is Man.

Manfred. After people started calling him "Ultraman Fred", he decided just Ultraman would be simpler.

It's something like Starlight, Silver, Brave, Ares, Shine or Aegis, a normal name on the Land of Light.

He changed his name to Ultraman, and it's really none of our business why or when.

Ide, by contrast, takes his job seriously and is always trying to be the best patrolman he can. He's used to things going wrong for him in the most hilarious manner possible, but he still wishes, even just once, to pull off some daring plan perfectly.

Arashi is aware of his status as one of the Science Patrol's resident Funny Chaps™, but he doesn't mind. He keeps doing what he does best- fighting giant monsters with wild enthusiasm, generally- and life is good. He's also quite a good barbecue chef.

Despite having a sword as one of his attacks, Mebius didn't know how to use it at first. He didn't even know he had a sword attack. During his time on Earth, he took sword fighting lessons to better his abilities. He went a bit overboard and now knows how to wield multiple types of swords.

I might have been too harsh. Tsuburaya Productions are trying, with Carmeara, Queen Izana, Grigio and the many human women, all of which I appreciate. At times, though, it feels like they’re throwing us crumbs of female representation when the series has been a veritable banquet of male representation since 1966, and that is somewhat vexing.

Women in the Land of Light can be anything. Communications officers, scientists, warrior-princesses who get kidnapped, scrappy girls who are adorably bad at fighting and have to beg to be taken seriously… One of them’s even Surgeon-General!

Maybe the next Ultrawoman will be a teacher, a bossy older sister, or an allegedly mighty warrior who keeps getting shown up by a less experienced man. Or genuinely, unironically strong and powerful, but also a villain. The sky’s the limit! :D
