“Fucking finally,” John practically moaned as he slipped one foot out of his shoe. He worked on unbuckling the next as he curled and stretched his now freed toes. “Thanks for letting me come over on short notice,” he said, kicking the heels aside. He turned and sat sideways on the couch, bare, shaved legs curling underneath him. His jacket ended above mid thigh, hiked up from his position. 

He placed his elbow on the armrest and cradled the back of his head in his palm. “Trying to avoid my landlord. Little late on some bills, but I’ll get it fixed.” John was hoping he could throw in a little extra money to settle things. If not, he had other ways to get on the man’s good side. “Almost chucked a sickie last night, to be honest.”
