Cinnamon Roll Character

May I introduce to you, my favorite character, the cinnamon roll <3

What is the cinnamon roll character?

“In general, cinnamon rolls are used to refer to characters who are described as “Too pure for the world.” This refers to characters who are cute, fluffy, caring, kind, and beyond innocent, with a saint-like personality, who cause people to go “AWWDWDWD” or who make them want to protect the character.”

Why do we melt for cinnamon roll characters?

Because we do not deserve their pure souls

We can often relate to the cinnamon roll character because of the struggles they have gone through

They are protective and caring

They have a peaceful aura

Their personality traits are innocent and kind

What are the traits of a cinnamon roll character?

Caring and Kind

A sweet soul

Generous and sharing, maybe even funny!

Random things cinnamon roll characters do..

Academic enemies to lovers

I’m sorry but this hits the spot. Maybe it’s just because I have a soft spot for smart people, or I just seek academic validation who knows T-T. And the best part is when they both help each other with an assignment, and only decide to be friends during the assignment, but they slowly open up to one another?! GIVE IT TO ME.

One bed trope

I’ll be honest- I used to hate this one. It just seemed so unrealistic to me. Like, really, you randomly had a fever, or nightmare, or lost the key to your room in the middle of the night? Interesting. BUT NOW?! HOLY MAMA SHARK TOOTH CAKES BRING THAT BOOK HERE. NOW. think about it. They both are turned away, and randomly both turn to look at each other at the same time- I CAN’T-

The Mentor

I know a lot of people hate on this character trope but.. guys. The mentors are always hot, I can’t help myself. I could give you a whole list and I’ve probably fallen for each one. Plus, the mentor is always selfless. They would die for their student. They would kill for them. It’s the type of parenting we’ve always wanted, and that’s probably why I would die for them too.

The split up in horrors

You know when the group of teenagers in a horror movie decide to split up, even for the briefest of times, either to figure something out, kill the murderer, or hide? I love this. It’s old, yeah, it’s cliche, yeah, but I die for it. I get goosebumps because I personally have attachment issues and cannot stand being alone-

Lovers to enemies

Don’t get me wrong, I love lovers. We all love love. But picture this- you’ve been dating a guy for three months. You really, really love him. Until he starts making the wrong choices. Over, and over again. You start to hate him for it. I won’t go into heavy detail, don’t want to expose too much, but I will say I love this trope specifically in fantasy stories because imagine them fighting. With super powers. GUYS.

Tropes I hate with a burning passion

I don’t usually say my opinion on topics like this but.. why not, I love causing mass chaos.

➤ 𝐸𝑛𝑒𝑚𝑖𝑒𝑠 𝑡𝑜 𝐿𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑠

Don’t get me wrong, enemies to lovers can be amazing. Very rarely though do I actually love an enemies to lovers book because there are always hints of ‘I must dominate’ or ‘toxic masculinity’ or ‘romanticizing abuse’. It just doesn’t sit right with me. So to conclude, I hate certain enemies to lovers. Mostly all.

Now, academic enemies to lovers? That’s different.

➤ 𝐿𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑇𝑟𝑖𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑒𝑠

I’m sorry but love triangles are so toxic. Oh, so it’s okay to mentally mess with two people because you can’t choose one? Well then let’s just put both of them on a mental hold and flirt with both individuals. Maybe that’s your thing, and maybe there are books with healthy love triangles, but I will stand by this until the twilight series burns.

➤ 𝐵𝑎𝑑 𝐵𝑜𝑦 𝑥 𝐺𝑜𝑜𝑑 𝐺𝑖𝑟𝑙

I don’t have anything against bad boy and good girl pairings, I just hate the way it’s done. The good girl always ends up going against her own morals to be with a guy who is no where near the minimum standard. Plus, the guy is always a complete jerk to everyone, and the girl can’t stand up for herself. It just doesn’t work. Can I pretty please with cherries on trope see some deeper layers for this?

➤ 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑆𝑒𝑐𝑟𝑒𝑡 𝐶ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑒𝑟

If I see one more ‘surprise, I’m actually your father’ or ‘surprise, I’m your long time missed brother, miss me?’ I am going to do evil things. You haven’t seen evil. It’s not a surprise, first of all, secondly, we ( the readers ) have figured it out before the third chapter. It’s just not intriguing anymore.

➤ 𝑇𝑟𝑎𝑔𝑖𝑐 𝐵𝑎𝑐𝑘𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑠

Hear me out, I’m not saying all tragic back stories are bad, because they aren’t. Some are actually really relatable! But they all are the same. Which yes, I understand most backstories are going to be the same, but I don’t want to keep reading the same daddy issues character or ‘my parents died when I was very young’ ( shh im in a mood- ) ALL I’M SAYING IS MIX IT UP PEOPLE NOT EVERY FAMILY MEMBER HAS TO BE DEAD-

Keep in mind, a trope isn’t always bad! As long as it is done properly, not half buttocked.

NaNoWriMo

Since it’s almost July, here is a post on how to prepare for NaNoWriMo!

NaNoWriMo..

Writing a novel alone can be difficult, even for seasoned writers. NaNoWriMo helps you track your progress, set milestones, connect with other writers in a vast community, and participate in events that are designed to make sure you finish your novel. Oh, and best of all, it’s free!

Well..

If you have decided to join NaNoWriMo this year, my applause goes to you! I know NaNoWriMo can seem like a lot, and yes sometimes it can be stressful, but the end note is worth it!

The following slides include some tips from credited sites and even a couple of friends of mine who have gone through NaNoWriMo! I hope it helps <3

To prepare..

Schedule in advance. Maybe set certain hours of the day aside that you know you are free, or have a reminder on your phone.

Outline your story. You can’t start a story until your properly outline it, or at least have some idea of what you are outlining.

Organizing the notes. You’ve probably brainstormed a lot for your novel, which means you either have files upon files or tiny note cards in your room with random things. Filter them out!

Don’t get distracted. I know July is still summer time, but if you have decided to go through with NaNoWriMo you have to stick to it. You can still do fun activities, but don’t let them get in the way of your writing time.

Create a comforting workspace. If your desk is messy, clean it up. If you prefer to work outside, make a small area for you to work at.

Put together your plot points. This is a vital part of your NaNoWriMo process.

Create a word-count goal. Most writers shoot for 50k words, but don’t by shy to go under or over that! Whatever you think you can handle.

Motivation. Half way through NaNoWriMo you may start to feel like a failure. Whether it’s an app full of motivation quotes or an accountability partner, do what you need to do to stay motivated!

And end note..

There are so many ways to prepare for NaNoWriMo. I recommend doing a bunch of research to properly prepare yourself for the month of July.
