Bora knew what she was feeling wasn't real, but she cherished it nonetheless. She could feel this magic taking it's toll on Mirii, she knew her lover was trying to be brave for her.

Getting Through

Miriilandra looked up.

It worked! The Spirit Call was successful!

-"Is this...? Mirii is this your doing?" Bora's voice was a low, tender growl.

The apprentice mage looked up, into her lover's piercing blue eyes and nodded. She didn't have much time, she was already feeling weak and her knees were buckling. The Spirit Call was extremely demanding, especially for inexperienced practitioners.

-"This is not real" said Bora.

Mirii shook her head. She raised her wrist up and showed Bora the metal cuff shackling her thin wrist and shook it.

-"Escape? How? Please, my love, don't do anything brash. I will get us out of this."

Before Miriilandra could respond, her vision began to fade and she felt she could no longer stand. The spell was taking too much from her...

Tips for artists coming back to tumblr from twitter

Have a pinned post with your name and links, like you would on twitter. You can also add links to your bio with html.

Find a blog theme that is very image friendly.

Create an art tag so people can find your work!! Especially if you also reblog others’ stuff onto your main. If you don’t feel like getting creative, #my art is a popular one.

Popular art tags here are # artists on tumblr, # my art, # illustration, and # drawing, or just simply # art. You can add as many tags as you want to a post, although only the first 5 or so are prioritized in search.

Pinned tags are now a thing? so like if you have a bunch of tags on your blog but only want a select few to show up, you do that in blog settings.

You can also turn on tipping on your posts to allow people to donate to you if you connect a Stripe account. I don't know specifics.

Create an art-only sideblog for people to follow if they don’t want to see all your reblogs.

Submit your art to blogs like @art or @artistalley for a chance at getting featured or reaching a wider audience!

You can use spaces in tags. Please use spaces in tags. It makes navigation much easier.

@tips has a more in-depth explanation of various functions and how to use them so check that out if the UI here is overwhelming.

Go to @changes and @wip for updates/help/whatever on what staff are doing with the site. You can also make requests for new features I think? idk

Sweat and Earth and Desert Flowers

A Spirit Call! Miriilandra didn't need to speak in order to attempt a Spirit Call! Of course, why didn't she think of this sooner? She had only tried it once, at the conservatory and nearly fainted. It might not be of much practical help right now but it would at least give the two lovers a moment alone together and would let Bora know that she hadn't given up and was fighting for her, in her own way. Mirii closed her eyes and focused on the memory of her lover. The idea of her. She remembered how her skin felt to the touch. She remembered how Bora smelled of sweat and earth and desert flowers. She remembered how her heartbeat sounded deep and steady whenever Mirii laid her head on her breast. She remembered how her chest would rise and fall and gently rock Mirii into a deep slumber whenever she fell asleep in Bora's arms... The noise around Miriilandra faded to a low hum.

She could smell sweat and earth and desert flowers.

She could hear a deep and steady heartbeat.

-"Mirii? Is that you?"

Mirii looked over once again at Bora. If her lover had any fear in her, she was hiding it very well. She admired her nerves of steel and how her bravery only added to her beauty.

No.

If Bora could show such courage in such a dire situation, Mirii could be brave for her too. She would stop reacting and do something. Anything.

As an apprentice mage, she was not powerful enough to attempt an unlocking spell on her shackles, especially in her weakened state. But perhaps a rust charm, on the right link in the chain...

If only she could get rid of her foul gag...

Bora & Mirii at the Slave Market

Never in her life did Miriilandra imagine she would ever come near a slave market, much less ever be sold at one.

Having spent most of her life behind the high walls of the Conservatory, she had only ever read about such barbaric practices in books. The outside world was proving to be an unfair and ruthless place, but Mirii could always find solace in Bora's strong arms.

She longed for her lover's embrace now more than ever...

For three days, Miriilandra had been kept apart from the woman she loved. As soon as they were captured, the cruel slavers made sure to keep her separated from Bora, who was being pulled along by a heavy yoke, behind the cage wagon she was bound confined to.

One of the sharper thugs, realized quickly that Miriilandra was a Mage and gagged her before she could cast any incantations.

For three days she was unable to speak, eat, or call out to Bora. To speak her lover's name, to soothe and reassure her, as they were taken to their fate...

Bora stopped straining against her bonds for a brief moment. How did she get into this mess? Had she gone soft? Had her love for Mirii clouded her judgement and dulled her skills?

She thought about how soft her lover's skin felt. Her sweet scent. The weight of her small, delicate frame on top of her own as they made love.

With renewed strength, Bora tugged at her chains yet again...
