Stupid People Suck
Did a report for work, super detailed patch impact assessment. Over 400 individual patches reviewed, assessed, and summarized. Three summary paragraphs that take up less than half a page together and a table detailing each and every patch.
PM's response: I need a summary that says a specific thing
Me: It's right there in the paragraph
PM: I need more detail
Me: The table has all the details
PM: No one is going to read that table. I need all the details summarized
Me: Ok so can you give me examples?
PM: Proceeds to give example that absolutely will not work and he had been told as much repeatedly
Me: That still won't work. These patches cannot be categorized like that
Coworker: Is it because she put it in a table and not an outline?
PM: *silence*

No one listens. There is something about me that is broken. Broken in a way that makes people ignore my existence and misunderstand me. And I don’t mean misunderstand as in I have to over explain. I mean misunderstand as in repeating what I had just said verbatim is all it takes to clear it up. I can be mid sentence and people talk over me like I wasn’t even speaking.
It’s not that I only know rude people either. This is literally everyone I encounter.
I have spent 8 years explaining this to my husband. And today, I shared a TikTok that was particularly hilarious with amazing comments. I wanted him to watch the video so we could talk about the comments. I told him I wanted him to watch the video so we could talk about the comments. He watches the TikTok then looks at me expectantly. So I start reading my favorite comment. He looks back down at TikTok and swipes up for the next video and starts watching it while I was talking. And he had the nerve to look shocked when I got upset. I walked into his office, clearly defined exactly what I expected for the encounter, and nothing.
He goes in waves, where I will get upset about this, he will stop for a while, then he just goes back.
Usually for something this small, I just try to push on and ignore it. Today it felt like something broke inside me. Like the last bit of hope died.
“If everyone you meet is an asshole, then the problem is you.” - Someone smarter than me
If no one will listen to me, the problem is me. I am the issue. It’s all me and I don’t know what is wrong to even try to find a fix. It’s like in that moment it all became crystal clear. I am so broken I do not deserve to be treated like a person. I am so broken that I have no value. And I never will. I am just a crutch for others to use to improve themselves then they leave.
I don’t know what I am doing wrong. Even when someone else says my words, it’s like others know to ignore it, even when I am never mentioned.
No one cares. Not strangers, not coworkers, not friends, not even my husband. And why should they? I am just an emotional support animal who does not deserve basic human decency.
Maybe my mom was right. I am useless, worthless, and a burden to the world. No one wants or needs me and no one ever will.

An eye for an eye doesn’t make the whole world blind.
It just teaches eye pokers to not fucking do it.
Why should anyone care what they do to anyone else when we as a society make it so clear that any sort of punishment is because the victim is the bad person for causing the aggressor to face consequences.
Why does society think telling people “It’s good to be good but there are no consequences for being bad until it’s illegal and usually not even then,” is going to produce good citizens?
Imagine a world where child abuse victims wouldn’t get told they need to stay in contact with their parents and allow themselves to continue to be abused just because the parents are their parents.
I have had someone look me straight in the face and say, “Well it’s not like she killed you,” about my mother suffocating me as a newborn because my mother did her best. Well her best was committing attempted murder on a newborn repeatedly for attention.

So I have found a glaring omission from the English language and I am taking suggestions for an English word for the following experience:
When I eat certain foods, they will taste just fine and they do not upset my stomach at all. However my esophagus and throat are adamantly opposed to me swallowing the food item. Lump in the throat, difficult to swallow, feel like I am going to puke but without my stomach participating. It feels really weird when the straw from my mouth to my stomach is telling perfectly reasonable, properly chewed food that no it cannot slide down the straw to the stomach. Particularly when the stomach has NO issues with the food item and the mouth didn't either.
I need a word for this. A word for when the only problem I have with the food is the act of swallowing it.

Surprise Racism Speedrun
Saw a TikTok today showing the current FASFA asking what specific flavor of white someone was. There was a comment asking about how the classifications were decided on. This comes up a fair amount when people see EEO classifications for the first time because races like Arab and Jewish are considered white in the EEO system despite geography. I do things that are HR adjacent, so I see this question a lot.
So here is where I experienced a surprise racism speed run. I said the following, "If a person, whose family had lived in Ireland for at least a hundred years, were to come to America, they would be called African American if their skin color was in that shade range." Notice I never indicated what the person's race could have been until the end. This was my mistake.
So I had some jack wagon come in and start raging about how Irish people have never been called African American and no Irish person had ever been prevented from marrying a white woman. That I was delusional. No Irish person had ever been discriminated against in the US. Oh and I was fear mongering.
Well first of all good sir, there is no law that says people from Ireland can only be white. Now I put it that way in my comment too, People from Ireland. Because I understand there is a difference between ethnic background and geographic background, and I wanted to be clear that I was referring specifically to people who lived on the island of Ireland not people of Irish ethnic descent.
I like precision in language almost as much as I like over explaining myself to the void of the internet.
Second of all, my good man. My fine gentleman that went to extensive trouble to tell me all about his passport and how he was Irish because his grandparents immigrated from Ireland before his father was born, and how his grandparents lived in Ireland and never saw a black person. My dude, I have been all over the place in the US. Including in the various cities members of the English Royal Family have been, at the same time. I have never once seen them in person nor has anyone I know, but I know they have been here and have even lived here on occasion. Because I understand the concept that just because I or someone I know have not experienced something, doesn't mean it isn't true. I understand the concept that other people have different experiences than I have, and sometimes they get to experience things I never will.
Third, save the best (worst) for last. Or at least the most important. Like my dude, do you have any idea this shit the Irish have had to deal with not only in the US but in Ireland? The complete and absolute horrors. Prima nocta, the potato famine, enslavement to the English, the list goes on. Like if there is any group of white folks that can understand as a people the torment any minority group has experienced at the hands of other white folks, it's the Irish. The population of Ireland still has not recovered from the potato famine, which honestly is a horrible name for the English genocide of the Irish. The Irish still don't have full control over their whole island and the parts they do control are still overseen by the English. Of all the groups to say have never experienced ethnic hatred,
Jesus H Christ, on a bike, and oh yeah Mary is right on those handlebars.
Also, just for fun, I am also ethnically from a white factory country. In my country, if you were useful, skin color didn't matter because everyone needed to pitch in to survive the winter. But the English took that from my country too. Just not in as horrific a manner as they did the Irish.

So I am currently afraid to spend much time out in public. I am six feet tall and broad shouldered. I am clearly from good farm stock. I am a woman. I am scared of being beaten to severe injury or even death because some idiot decides that I must be a trans-woman trying to pass.
As a woman, I am incapable of caring any less about the equipment someone has in their pants in the bathroom I am in. As long as all participants in whatever activities are occurring in the bathroom can and do consent, I do not care.
Predators do not care about the gender of the bathroom they are assaulting someone in. They are already breaking a big law by assaulting someone, the little law of the restroom’s preferred gender does not even slow the predator down.
That little law emboldens jack wagons to attack people like me though. People who can’t fit American cultural gender norms. I cannot be 5’ 4” or less tall, I can’t change how broad my shoulders are, I can’t change my jaw shape, etc.
The bathroom laws don’t just hurt trans folks. These laws hurt trans folks, biologically gender non-conforming folks, and stylistically gender non-conforming folks. All because none of us fit what American culture says our gender should be presented as.
The best part, I have to specify identify American cultural gender norms. Gender normative behavior varies by culture. I mean I wouldn’t recommend telling man in a kilt that he is wearing a skirt, but kilts are in the skirt category of clothing. Just like I wouldn’t tell a man in thobe that I like his dress, despite a thobe clearly being in the dress category. Why? Because dress and skirt carry an additional connotation of being for women in American culture and in their respective cultures, kilts and thobes are not female specific.

The best part of waking up
Well in today's news the best part of me waking up was this lovely cup of coffee. No, no Folgers, well maybe, if they pay a sponsorship.
Now dear reader, with mirth aside, what did I really wake up to? Lutherans are money launders it would seem. Heaven forbid they do as Jesus taught in the Bible and be charitable. Oh no, they help refugees. That's horrible! Deport Martin Luther! (not the Jr with King in the name as well). Yes that was a call back to a previous rambling.
What else delighted my news feeds this morning? Oh 7 or so airplane "crashes" in just under two days. You know...if I remember correctly...Trump put a hiring freeze in place that affected the FFA. FFA had reported before this that they needed more ATCs...And now lines at the airport will take you 5 hours to get through because TSA isn't showing up either. At this point I think I would even resort to walking. At least then I have a better chance of getting were I need to be alive.
And the treasury department isn't even safe....I think I will leave that one right there.
Anyone know the difference between sapients and sentients? (hope I spelled that right)

What was that again?
I'll quote WWE wrestler HHH here. "For a man who has something to say about everything, Im speechless." I wake up to news that there was a very close call with another plane and helicopter. A tweet from a twit describing this EXACT thing as a way to do away with DEI. Other tweets from twits saying how they want to deport people like Martin Luther King Jr.
Allow that to sink in dear reader. They want to deport people who would disagree with dear leader, and in this case I guess dig up the graves of those whom were (emphasis on the were here, because you know, they're dead) American citizens. Oh and I did mention that they are DEAD?!?!?! Oh, Ann Frank, her too!...yep folks, not only was she never in America, she is dead.
All the while people are in a tear to deport people, others can't even get a passport? Help me understand that. You want a certain demographic gone for your nation, yet you are blocking the path for them to leave. This does not make sense.

Such a good puppers!
There is a concept called "wagging the dog". It's a play on cause and effect. Is the the dog wagging the tail or is the tail wagging the dog. Normally we all believe that the dog is wagging the tail. We know that the tail doesn't really have a mind of its own. So what are we saying when we say "wagging the dog". From my interpretation it is this; the effect we see of what would seem to be excited tail movements that look to be wagging the dog! Isn't that great. It's hilarious to look at!....all while not paying attention to facts we know to be true.
Distraction. Don't look behind the curtain. Don't question what you are seeing. See, its the tail wagging the dog........

Pull the the other one, its a little short.
So it has recently (as in just a few minutes ago) been brought to my attention that Payless Putin is blaming the Obama and Biden administration for hiring individuals whose mental capacity, or lack thereof, makes them a DEI hire. That dear readers means he believes the mentally handicapped run ATC....let that sink in. I believe this is an instance in which the joke writes itself. Our DEI President is railing about two administrations that were separated by his own prior administration for DEI hires for ATC.
From my previous post, watch the dog, not the tail. Do not be distracted from what is going on. States not getting their funding for needed programs that not only help the public, but also fulfill contract obligations to vendors/suppliers. Federal employees being told they were not going to be getting a paycheck. All done by the pen of a man who doesn't understand that there are some States that send way more to the Federal government than they receive.
Many of us, myself included, have to be reminded of how federal grants and funding works. But this man is the President. You would think this is something that he should know. Or at the very least something those around him and advising him should know. He should know how even though he said that Social Security wouldn't be effected, what he signed 100% was going to effect programs like Social Security. The Federal government does not pay individuals directly. They pay the States and the States pay the people. The States send money to the Federal government and in return gets the funding needed. You stop paying the States, the States may very well stop paying you. We have to be able to keep up with the programs and obligations some how.

To the Trump voters complaining about what is happening to them because of Trump: Those of us who didn't vote for Trump are laughing at you because we can either laugh or cry. Since self-inflicted wounds bear no pity, I might as well laugh at you. It's not nice. I have nothing else for you though.
The reason non-Trump voters told you we couldn't be there for you anymore is because we have to save ourselves from drowning before we can save you. As Trump voters, you have ensured that non-Trump voters do not have the bandwidth to save you from yourself anymore.

How do we not learn?
In the day of the internet, in which just about the entire collective knowledge of humans is available, how do we not learn from our own history? Sentiments from WW2 of "well, they aren't coming for me, so I will stay quiet", and then no one was left to speak for those who choice it was to keep the status quo, to stay silent. Concepts that have made it to memes about not believing that the leopards would eat my face, only to finally feel the tooth and claw to much amazement.
I share my thoughts here because in the past social revolutions started in the gathering places of those who are in disagreement with the way society is heading. Even the natural philosophers of our past would meet socially in coffee houses to discuss philosophy and science. The American revolution started in the ale houses. The hippies of my parents generation had things like Woodstock. Now the very same internet that gives us access to our history has become the place in which ideas can be shared, discussed, defended, and all view points can be aired.
