Post 3rd Playthrough Musings/What I Would Have Liked to See

Some spoilers below...

To get it out of the way first, I do enjoy the game but it just gets to me that certain things feel lacking. Without changing Veilguard completely these are somethings I'd have like to see added:

-Romances don't have the same energy as the other games, I think all of them could do with more random party banter and maybe an additional scene, even just adding actually substance to the gifting scene would add so much more than we got, maybe have them give Rook something too, it would have been nice to see something like Harding fill Rook's room with potted plants.

-Rather than meeting our Inquisitor in the Cobbled Swan I think we should have gone to Skyhold, there is an Eluvian there after all. Maybe an extra meeting or two so we could see the halls get increasingly more crowded with survivors from the south to show us some of the hardship and horror they are going through there. Adding to this I think there should have at least been a world state option for who is the Divine as all candidates would have had different ways of tackling the events and different consequences.

-I would have liked to see something similar to the celebration at the end of DAI, but more of a memorial instead as you have to lose at least one member of the team, Varric, and the countless civilian and faction lives too. Just a quick final talk with everyone, maybe have the Inquisitors LI there so there is something more substantial than a letter for those who didn't romance Solas, a short speech for the fallen and then into the slides from the ending.

From everything I've heard it seems Veilguard was in development hell so at the very least I am thankful for what we do have, and I have definitely gotten my money's worth from it, maybe not as much as the previous games but if they change their minds and add DLC I will happily revisit it in the future.

I’ve seen a few posts here and on Twitter worrying about who the Doppelgängers might be but what if it’s just a bluff and the Doppelgängers aren’t actually put into play and it’s just Bell’s Hells having to overcome their own suspicions and doubts of each other or risk falling further apart?

I was actually writing something like this a while ago but I never got around to really fleshing it out but here’s what I have so far.

“Are you comfortable?”

“Yes, very. You’re hands are warm, it’s nice.”

“Alright. Just let me know if I hurt you, okay? I haven’t done this in a few years.” And even then it had been mostly horses, it was her father or Samuel who usually took care of the goats which had more comparable hooves to her fawn friend.

“I don’t mind a little pain.” If she hadn’t been so worried Imogen would have rolled her eyes.

“I do Fearne, please.”

“You’re no fun when you’re working.” Fearne pouted and returned to sorting through her pilfered goods.

Fearne’s hooves were quite a bit bigger than the goats that Master Faramore kept, but otherwise looked largely the same. A quick inspection alleviated most of Imogen’s worries, no foot rot, that was good. Her toes had begun to roll slightly, but that seemed to be the worst of it. After picking out the debris from the forest to reveal the soft white sole, she began to carefully pair down the hoof walls, slower than she would have back home, partially due to lack of practice in recent years but mostly she didn’t want to risk hurting Fearne if she could help it. It only took a few minutes to have the hoof walls flush with the sole and ball. A quick file to smooth the sharper edges and dewclaws and they were done with the first hoof.

“That tickles.” Fearne shivered as she brushed away the filings with her thumb.

“Sorry.”

“No, no, I liked it.”

The second hoof was quicker work, still slow by her father’s standards but that wasn’t a problem here when she wasn’t racing against the sun to finish her work.

Fearne had gotten bored with her loot and had taken to braiding Imogen’s hair whilst she worked, she was very gentle, working so quietly and carefully that the sorcerer hadn’t noticed in her concentration, not until Fearne leaned over head to begin weaving the smaller braids into one.

“All done,” Imogen declared, dusting her hand before offering them to Fearne to help her stand, “does that feel better?”

“I feel… a little shorter.”

“No one ‘cept Orym will notice.”
