The Unhoneymooners: A review
This book was written by Christina Lauren and was published in 2019. I heard about this book through a tiktok and had it engrained in my memory since. When I decided I wanted to get back into reading, I chose this book and... I loved it. It made me so happy and flustered in the best way possible. I am a sucker for banter (it is by far the most fun thing to do of all time) and this book had some of the best banter ever written. This book made me see the appeal of enemies to lovers (it is not my favorite trope, friends to lovers is superior) and literally got me out of a five month reading slump. I audibly squealed and cringed at some of the scenes from second hand embarrassment the way you’re supposed to when watching a romantic comedy.
In all honesty, I thought the ending was a bit underwhelming. They went for the grand gesture trope and I thought it was sweet but there are better parts of the book. Dressing up like you are in Hawaii while being in Minnesota is cringe inducing and not in the good way. The epilogue, on the other hand, was adorable and I was so happy to see everyone except him (you know who) get a happy ending.
