Contempt (formerly Body #998) was one of a few thousand children cryogenically frozen during a major natural disaster. Unfortunately, they ended up in the hands of a group of corrupt scientists living in a desolate wasteland, who decided to use them for nefarious means.

Over the years, children were regularly unfrozen and used as experiments or test subjects. Contempt was one of the last children to be unfrozen, and he was kept in a lab by the head researcher, Dr. Pear, until he was a teenager. Contempt was a bit of a problem child, who constantly rebelled and fought back against the scientists with violence, which led to him eventually having one of his eyes removed as a punishment.

Contempt is actually the main antagonist of the story, as he eventually escapes the lab and comes into a large amount of power and influence in the outside world. He's one of the most well liked and famous celebrities on the opposite side of a brewing war from the protagonists, which leads to a mutual hatred. He eventually is recaptured by Dr. Pear and has his limbs removed to prevent him from ever escaping again. </3

in college, i made a demo of a puzzle/escape room style game for a media class i was in. afterwards, i tried for a while to finish the game but never ended up doing so because i was bad at art and was using ms paint and my touch screen for all the assets LOL. harlan was one of the characters from that game.

it was about a group of people trapped in an underground facility who are forced to play games based around torture in attempts to escape and/or survive. there's a big social element, since many of the victims are voted on or decided by force.

harlan is a socially awkward and rude person, who pretty quickly made an enemy of the two most persuasive players (jean and wolff, who i just posted like 5 mins ago!), which led to him being subjected to way worse than the rest of the group for most of the game until he eventually formed a shaky alliance with jean out of desperation.

during the game, he loses an eye, at least one leg, his pinky, and part of an ear. after the game, jean and wolff feel a lot of guilt for the things they did to harlan, so they take care of him while he recovers from his injuries and trauma.

before the game, harlan was a barista and bartender. he married his high school sweetheart right after graduation, but his husband was unfortunately murdered not long into their marriage. harlan stayed close with his husband's family and actually lived with his brother in law for a while. both the cafe and bar where he worked were owned by members of his husband's family.

the story he is from is a lot like the saw movies. a group of people are trapped in a facility and forced to torture themselves and others to escape. harlan gets his finger cut off as part of the torture he goes through, as well as some other body parts later in the story!

Hi!! Sorry if I spam likes or something but I saw your vlog and thought "wow, that's exactly how I think Daan would look like, what a nice artist" and going deeper into the vlog I realize that you are the author of "modern man traditional medicine" and I got WILD.

Not joking but it was one of my first fics of funger I had ever read. The study of Daan and the writing was beautiful and the final got me crying tbh. It's been months since I ended it and still think about it at least once a week.

You're really a talented artist and writer, I hope you're doing well because I was on a shitty moment of my life when the final chapter was published and it actually gave me hope.
