I've gone on a Hiatus I guess
I got a job and now I have writer's block.
Some spoilers for the sequel. I do want to vent a little. And explain? And I bet someone is still going to be happy to read about the sequel. Don't read if you don't want to know anything about the plot or the new MC.
So basically: I wanted to practice being a more organized writer and decided I should start writing the sequel before finishing GFS. Sounds smart, right?
In the sequel (that doesn't have a name yet but the working title is Two baby angels need to save the world from a second coming of the ten plagues?! - In true Light Novel spirit.) Heaven has decided to let global warming do its thing to humanity because humans are awful. The new MC (Who I think is going to be named Mercy but I'm not 100% sure) and Bram team up to try convince the adult angels that humans aren't too bad and deserve a second chance.
I was excited to write this! It's going to be Doomer as hell and the archangels are going to be there, and Jack gets to show up, and I get to show off more of the world building.
But then real life went Doomer as hell, too.
And like, in the middle of seeing all the news about the floods in Europe and the hurricanes in America (and all the other shit that's going on), I thought, This is... too soon. I don't want to sit down and write about angels discussing unleashing all of this on humanity. Not when there's actual people still trying to rebuild their homes.
I'm pretty sure that's where the writer's block stems from anyway. Could also be that I started working and now my brain is doing completely different things than I was going in college.

So what if a fledging dies before being taken to heaven, is it like a miscarriage.
What an interseting ask!
I'd say it's more like if a premie baby dies. The angels in heaven would be devastated because the baby had “so much life ahead of them” and they didn’t even “get to start living”.
The grief of the angel-parent would definitely depend on if they stayed to raise the graceling (Leon leaves the baby mama to raise them while some stay on Earth and raise them themselves). If the angel stayed to raise the graceling they would have gotten to know them even more. Though I dare say that if the angel stays with the graceling the chance of the graceling dying is next to zero. No Supernatural being would dare mess with a graceling when the parent is right there. Graceling don't get sick with human diseases either. Maybe if they fall off a cliff...
Thank you for the ask!

Does Feather Color Racism occur? If so, which feather colors are commonly seen as "impure" and "hellish" for those who believe in it?
Sorry I've taken so long to answer this!
Aside from the stereotypes that the colors have, there’s no racism I’d say. The angel wings in my story are based on parakeets, so they’re pretty colorful, but there are “plain” ones. - Like Adrian or Jack who are white/grey and white/black.
If a fledgling shows up with wings looking like a pigeon people would be confused. The color doesn’t matter in the long run, though, since everyone gets the black-ish wings with eyes when they’re fully grown.
It hasn’t happened that a fledgling gets completely black wings (yet, *cough* the MC in the sequel will most likely have black wings *cough cough cough*). If that every happened the angels would be pretty confused, too.
Thank you for the ask!

Wait, do AFAB Angels have periods?
I would imagine not, because holy and crap, but I'm sorta curious
(Let me tell you, I have been going back and forth on this, but here's what I'm thinking...)
The aging of angels slows down so much once the grace settles (and they get wings), that the body just kind of forgets it's supposed to happen. (This happens to most bodily functions. All that manna they're eating? It's basically combusted in their stomachs.) The worst thing the angels have to deal with is molting (dropping and regrowing feathers), which happens about twice a year.
Once the angel is an adult they can control their bodies to some extent (Which is how Teacher presents so succesfully as agender.) and all angels simply decide to get stuff going when it's time to make a baby.
Thank you for the ask!

In your opinion, who is the most unhinged character in GFAS?
Leon
He is capable of some real f*cked up shit.

Out of curiosity, is Leon seen as a norm in terms of angel parenting (very doting, probs to babying, quick to discipline, etc.) or is he a special case?
Good question!
The angels who stay on Earth to raise the graceling (i.e female angels who carried the child) tend to be less babying by the time homecoming happens. They take after humans in that way; they know it would look weird if they treated their 12-year-old as a baby. It hits a little different when you actually see the graceling going from helpless infant to fairly capable teenager, so by the time they take the kid to heaven the parent doesn’t feel a need to regress THAT hard.
Most angels are very doting and babying to fledglings in heaven. They (especially angels who don't interact much with humans) perceive and focus more on the fledgling’s wibbly wobbly grace that is oh so cute, look at the baby, so tiny~!
Heaven is very positive about discipline in general. Angels are made to obey God’s will. It’s just the humanness that needs to be, erm, ✨dispelled✨ from the little fledglings 😇
Concerning number of children Leon definitely is a special case. Most have like two and even then majority of angels never have children. (He’s such a slut 💀)
Thank you for the Ask!

Is jack coming back?
Yes! Of course! People really seem interested in his story 😄 But not until the sequel, or the small side story I’m thinking of doing. (And then maybe a short second sequel?? As a weird trilogy.)

Is there a way to shed you angel part of self and become a full human in your fic universe?
I believe I have already answered this once. I'll link it to make sure I don't misspeak, haha. Here:
Thank you for the ask!

Ngl I’m wondering if jack has a demon boyfriend or something 😂
I-It's something 👀👀
(Maybe spoilery but who would even be surprised) I'm actually planning on having Lucifer in the next work, and for a second while I was planning I was like, Wait a minute, what if Jack-- And then I was like, No! Lucifer would literally think Jack is a child....!! We're not doing [the 200 year old] dates the [8000 year old] love trope. I need to stick to what I have planned!! 😤
Demons have definitely flirted with Jack, though.

Smoll update!
It's short, but I thought I'd post it since everyone's waiting and probably wondering where I am 😆😬

In your story is there ever a case of an angel and a demon having an offspring? If so, what would they be?
Fun question! Even though I haven't thought about this possibility at all, honestly. It would be funny if it turned out to be just a human, wouldn't it? 😆
Leon would refuse to answer if Bram ever asked, that's for sure. And if it ever actually happened Heaven would be very concerned.

If you need suggestions for an ending, may I suggest having it be where bram gets to have one final talk with his mother, to give him closure with her (whether it ends with them both meeting halfway with their view points or with bram realizing he can't really get her to bend on her views, I'll leave entirely to you.)
I have an ending in mind! And now I'm certain you'll like it 😁

Hi guys!
I looked at my Ao3 dashboard yesterday and realized that it's been more than two months since the last update. Sorry to everyone waiting! I really thought I would have the next chapter out by May. There's been a lot of stuff going on for me and my family this summer.
Good and Bad news is that I keep thinking about things to write in the sequel to Bram's story. (Yes, there is supposed to be a sequel. There's going to be a new graceling is heaven that's most likely going to be a child of Michael. And she's going to be such a theatre kid!) But that also means I must wrap up Bram's story, and I'm awful at concluding stories 🙈
Honestly, part of me wishes I had ended it in the park with Leon and made a middle story of Bram getting his wings and all that jazz. Learn from my mistakes, readers. Plan your stories before you start writing them.

Version 2

I've been messing around in Canva and I made a little book cover thing. I think it's really cute 🥰 (Like I love how the colors hint on Bram's wings) I'm not completely sure you can even read the text with the yellow on blue, though, so feedback is appreciated ❤
All these elements are included in the free version of Canva. I think the specifik artist/company for the gold details is Sketchify india.
I'm going to add this to my pinned post once I'm completely happy with it. Like, maybe I should make the S in spankings bigger?
