In The Nigerian Job, when Elliot is playing the computer guy, flirting and distracting the receptionist, and she calls him "strong for a computer guy"... and he explains that he likes to cosplay as a Klingon. He USES the word, "Klingon." Then he says BAKLAH as if in character... sounding surprisingly close to the actual Klingon phrase, QAPLA. As if he IS familiar with the phrase, but just couldn't quite remember it.

Imo, Elliot watched Star Trek at some point in his life. Maybe as a kid with his parents. Maybe while trapped somewhere on a job. But Elliot watched MULTIPLE episodes at some point, or he wouldn't know what a Klingon was or what a Klingon phrase sounds like. Hardison is just too offended to see the obvious. Elliot has watched Star Trek.

(This is of course reinforced in Redemption when we find out Elliot learned how to speak Klingon "on a bet." Uh huh. Sir you don't do anything you don't want to do and we all know it.)

Today's random hot take: Supernatural is the Superman of current America.

Clearly Superman is no longer the Superman of current America: he can't catch a break even in today's superhero saturated world.

But why Supernatural? Normal, middle America, guys' guys, broke af... who have superhuman capabilities. They can fight, problem solve, network, and survive better than anyone in their league. They keep coming back, keep rising from the dead, keep beating the bad guys.

But they're more real than Clark Kent. They get hurt, physically and emotionally. They lose, they fail, they give up. They rely on friends and family. They change, they grow. They survive against all odds, but they're not invincible.

In an America where it constantly feels like the end of the world and those in power are manipulating those without (if not outright destroying them) and we don't know who we are anymore, they stand up and tell us.

We're Winchesters.

Is leaving kudos on fanfics not common courtesy anymore?

Something I've noticed on AO3 in the last two years is the lack of kudos and comments left on fanfics.

Fanfics have an increasing number of hits, but their kudos and comments remain minimal.

I understand that leaving comments is daunting, but kudos is the easiest thing you can do to show support and appreciation for an author.

Part of me wants to blame BookTok and the commercialized consumption of books.

Readers are more demanding and impatient for content, but they're quick to move on once a book is published. It's a constant demand for 'More, more, more' without appreciating and/or supporting authors. And these readers are now getting into fanfic.

I don't want to complain because it's not productive. But if you're new and getting into fanfic: Support writers.

Support means leaving kudos on AO3, and if you're able, leaving a comment. It's simple courtesy.
