Lets talk basics: Directing Energy
Directing energy involves concentration, focus and energy. After raising energy, it can be taxing. It’s important for the beginning practitioner to pace themselves. Baby steps lovelies, there’s no shame in it.
After raising the energy, focus on your intent. Infuse that intent with the energy you have and begging ‘moving’ it towards your goal. There are many mediums in which to achieve this; charging an object, casting out, imbuing it in a tool (poppet, charm, etc.) or simple a direct method.
Charging objects is an easy way to begin. Hold a stone or an item that represents your intent in your hands. Close your eyes and visualize the energy pouring from you and into that object. Hold the visualization, allowing the energy to become strong within that object. I like to use obsidian, charged with neutralizing energy and carry it with me, I touch it when I feel overwhelmed and allow myself to be neutralized.
Casting out requires a good deal more focus. I learned to cast out in a previous coven of mine. It works well when you need energy to reach someone or something you cant have contact with. Such as a sick loved one who lives far from you. Find yourself in a comfortable position. Visualize the energy forming almost solidly around you. Keep your intent in you thoughts. Begin visualizing that energy rising up into the sky or earth depending on your preference. As it rises, allow to to begin traveling in the direction of your intent. Release it and hold your focus for a few more moments, then rest, ground.
My personal favorite is to create a medium for directing energy. Such as allowing the energy to travel through a wand. Creating a doll, charm or other such item is a great way to continue sending energies certain way. I like to see poppet dolls for certain needs. With each stitch I can focus on my intent and imbue it with energy. Its almost as if you fill the object energy and it releases it slowly. Or quickly sometimes. These items will eventually become ‘empty’, usually after your goal has been met.

Food for Thought – The Importance of Black People in Tarot
I was so excited to find myself a beautifully melanated deck of Tarot cards. When I first started reading Tarot, I found myself annoyed with the lack of diversity. I was so aggravated in fact that I found a brown colored pencil and started coloring things in. I still was unsatisfied, because it felt ‘unauthentic’ and went out to purchase some decks. Next thing I knew I was swimming in a sea of Tarot and Oracle decks, because I was so obsessed with finding one black person! I came across the Vision Quest tarot deck and used that for a while because it had Native Americans and it was, ‘as close as I could get,’ but I still couldn’t relate to the deck. When you can’t relate to the deck you are learning with I feel that it makes development more challenging and time consuming. How could I relate to the struggles of Becky with blonde hair and blue eyes when I was a black woman with nappy hair from New York?
We are making strides in the world, but we are still behind and the New Age and Tarot communities. Out of all of the decks out there, this is the only fully melanated deck I’ve seen our heard about. It’s important for decks to show people of all shapes, colors, and sizes. If I can’t relate to the decks, how do I expect my clients to relate to their readings?

Do you know of any alternatives to a dream catcher? I had no idea that it was a part of someone's culture, I just thought people had them because they were neat.
i was going to have nice links and stuff but i was so depressed, however i didn’t just want to leave this!
so alternatives to dream catchers!
witches ladders. they are knot magic with added trinkets, usually feathers! while braiding or knotting just think of the intention of what you want out of it. an added bonus is the fact you can add things you associate with a goods nights sleep, or gems that offer magical properties of sleeping well, good dreams, nightmare reflection ect.
my favorite is satchels that can be made cheaply, filled with herbs and stones of your choice. when completed, put the satchel under a pillow or your bed!
similar to satchels are poppets, or a teddy bear works great for this if you have sewign skills. if you can make a small incision on the bottom of the bear (or stuffed animal/poppet) and while thinking on your intent put charged herbs and gems inside. then just close them right up adn sleep with the bear with you or near you.
if you like the looks of dream catchers to aid in helping you get better dreams i would suggest wreathes, you can add what ever decorations that match your aesthetic and practice, and it won’t be appropriation because its not from a closed religion

and this is a good sight that talks about a few stones that work well

Witch Tip
When divining with a pendulum, ask these two questions first:
Pendulum, are you in harmony with me?
Is now a good time to ask questions of a spiritual nature?
If you get a “no” for either question, do a quick cleansing of yourself, your pendulum, and your space using your preferred method and try again. If you still get a “no” for either question, try again later; perhaps in a different place.
This will help you calibrate your pendulum and get into a good habit of when and where to use it. It will also let you know if there may be spiritual interference that would affect the answers you receive. Happy divining!
