the staircase method ⎯ ✧
key: ☾ – asleep methods ☼ – awake methods ✧ – either
note ⎯
you can also use this method as a lucid dreaming method, which is something I never considered before! thank you @just-another-gen-z-shifter for the idea! check out their tumblr! their pronouns are they/she, so please be respectful.
the original method ⎯ also called the double-sided staircase method
begin by visualizing yourself at the bottom of a large set of stairs. if you're using this as a lucid dream method, conjure one (I find it easier to conjure items when I'm not facing the direction that they will spawn in).
take your time walking up the stairs. put effort in trying to feel your footsteps. I prefer to not visualize where the staircase ends, so I can take as long as I need or want to.
visualize moments from your current reality. good and bad. think of it like a montage of the highlights and lowlights of your life here. continue to slowly walk up the staircase.
at the top of the staircase, you find a mirror. your reflection is of your original reality self. take a moment to take yourself in, and acknowledge that this is going to be the last time that you see this version of yourself for a while.
turn away from a mirror and notice a door. when you touch the doorknob, feel (or affirm that you feel) a rush of energy flow through you.
when you open the door, visualize a staircase leading down to another door. begin to slowly walk down the stairs. feel your energy raise – if you don't feel a physical energy, that's okay! keep thinking positively, visualize some scenarios that you're excited for, think of the mundane moments in your dr that will make you happy. no matter what, take your time and be patient with this step.
open the door at the bottom of the staircase. visualize your comfort character from your desired reality waiting for you. they hold out their hand to you and ask, "are you ready to go?" take a moment to ponder over this. are you ready to shift?
take their hand and walk down a long corridor. visualize yourself having a conversation with your cc.
at the end of the corridor, you find yet another door. acknowledge that once you walk through that door, you will transform into your desired reality self.
there's a bit of a divide in the next step, so you can stop here if you feel ready to shift, or if you feel that you need more time, follow the steps below.
if you feel like you need more time to shift ⎯
on the other side of the door, you find your desired reality friends and family waiting for you. spend some time speaking to them, enjoying their presence.
when you feel ready, open another door that leads to your dr bedroom. deeply visualize your bedroom as you walk through.
lay down in your dr bed in the same position that you were laying in your original reality. fall asleep. you will wake up in your desired reality.
vida's version ⎯
follow steps 1-2 from the original method.
as you slowly walk up the steps, use shifting affirmations. once you feel reasonably disconnected from your body, begin to use identity affirmations.
at the top of the staircase, you find a mirror. when you look into it, you will notice your desired reality self looking back at you. visualize yourself slowly turning into your desired reality self until your physical body matches the one in the mirror. for more in-depth instructions, click here.
visualize your comfort character coming up to you and saying hello. take their hand and follow them to a door.
use your senses – feel yourself walking, feel the doorknob, twist it, and push the door open. on the other side, you will find either your dr bedroom or your wakeup scene – shifter's choice!
say goodnight to your comfort character, give them a hug, say you'll see them in the morning. really feel that you will see them soon.
walk around the room, explore the environment. use your senses.
when you feel ready, lay down on your dr bed. use affirmations or focus on your breathing to ease yourself to sleep.

the mirror method ⎯ ☾
key: ☾ – asleep methods ☼ – awake methods ✧ – either
note ⎯
this is a visualization method, do not actually do up to a mirror in your current reality.
I personally use this method as a part of the staircase method.
the method ⎯
visualize your current reality self walking up to a mirror. in the reflection of that mirror, notice your desired reality self.
take your time and reflect on the differences between your cr and dr appearances. notice the clothes you wear in your dr, your hair, your skin texture – pay attention to all of it.
allow yourself to step through the mirror and merge with your desired reality self.
my version of the method ⎯
depending on your spiritual beliefs, you may feel uncomfortable using a mirror as a portal. this is entirely okay! instead of stepping through the mirror, take deep breaths and visualize your current reality self slowly becoming your desired reality self. first with your clothes, smaller things like jewelry, perhaps adding piercings or tattoos.
physically feel these differences, touch the fabric of your clothes, play with your hair, feel your face for the piercings. essentially, use your senses to really validate the feeling that you are slowly but surely becoming your desired reality self.
once your transformation is complete, visualize yourself leaving the mirror behind and heading towards a door. take your time, feel yourself actually walk. open the door.
I like to visualize my wakeup scene beyond the door, or sometime my dr bedroom. I sit or lay down, and then I spend the rest of my time just existing in those spaces. I don't actually try to visualize much (as it's very difficult for me to do), so I instead use affirmations and focus on breathing deeply. I do so until I fall asleep.

the blanket method ⎯ ☾
key: ☾ – asleep methods ☼ – awake methods ✧ – either
this is a method by @kyalongbottom on tiktok, so all credits to them! they specifically advertised this to neurodivergent people.
please go check out kya's socials! their pronouns are they/them, so please remain respectful.
the method ⎯
relax. kya highly recommends this step for neurodivergent people. use this relaxation time to process your day and clear your head.
visualize or find inspiration. now is the time to watch edits of your comfort characters, to go through your pinterest boards, listen to music (with lyrics) that reminds you of your desired reality. kya does not listen to music with lyrics while they shift, so they get that out of the way during this time period. kya also does not visualize during their actual shifting attempt.
turn off all lights and limit your sensory exposure. blow out any candles, turn off aesthetic lighting. kya puts on instrumentals or nature sounds, and they emphasize that they do not listen to anything with talking or singing.
use your senses in your current reality, and connect those sensations to your desired reality. feel your blanket, imagine it's in your desired reality smell the air, imagine that it is your desired reality the goal of this step is to "blur the lines between [your] dr room and cr room"
kya calls this the "falling aspect" of their method. allow yourself to sink into your bed, imagining that your dr world is underneath your mattress and that you are falling into it.
allow yourself to fall asleep.
final push ideas ⎯
kya was kind enough to list some ideas to help you be certain that you have shifted, including;
script that you smell something specific when you arrive in your desired reality so that you are certain that you have shifted (I suggest something that you can reference at home, like a spice from your pantry or lotion)
script that you hear a specific character say something to you
note from kya ⎯
kya says that this method is great for people who feel as though shifting puts a lot of pressure on them and those who find themselves exhausted from trying to shift.
kya also states that they do not shift every single time with this method and sometimes find long pauses between their successful shifting attempts, but that can be the case with any method.
symptoms ⎯
kya notes that they get symptoms around step 4, which include skin prickling / tingling, feeling a temperature change, hearing noises or smelling things from their dr.
at step 5, kya has symptoms of weightlessness, feeling their stomach drop, and seeing flashing lights.
remember that symptoms are not necessary to shift.

the train method ⎯ ☼
key: ☾ – asleep methods ☼ – awake methods ✧ – either
the method ⎯
allow yourself to reach a meditative state. completely relax.
begin to visualize yourself on a train, like the hogwarts express. I suggest finding a reference photo on pinterest to study.
explore your senses. feel yourself walk around, touch the walls, touch the baggage rack, the seats, feel how cool the window is, open and close the door. do you hear the train chugging? do you smell anything, like perfume?
affirm that you are shifting to your desired reality. affirm that the train will come to a stop once you fully shift. affirm that you have shifted.
when you feel the train come to a complete stop, or you feel your surroundings change, open your eyes.

the heartbeat method ⎯ ☼
key: ☾ – asleep methods ☼ – awake methods ✧ – either
requirements ⎯
find a subliminal of a heart beating. there are multiple on youtube. this is the one that I use – it's an hour long, which may be too long for some of you, but I generally attempt to shift for 1-2 hours, so this was perfect for me. be sure to check the comments to see if the subliminal is reliable.
I recommend using the app musi – there's no advertisements! be sure to put your subliminal into a playlist so you can ensure that nothing plays afterwards.
I also recommend that you buy a bluetooth sleepmask. this is the one that I own, it's just over $20. I've had it for two years and it's still great.
the method ⎯
put on a subliminal of a heartbeat. I recommend thinking about how long it generally takes you to get symptoms or feel close to your desired reality. for me, it takes anywhere between thirty minutes on a good day, or over an hour on an unlucky one.
place your phone near your pillow (if you do not have headphones or a bluetooth sleepmask). lay down as though you were resting on top of your comfort character's chest.
visualize that you are laying down in a room – perhaps your dorm room, perhaps your current reality bedroom.
after the subliminal ends and you feel like you are in a meditative state, visualize your comfort character gently waking you up. they grab your hand and tell you that it's time to go home. use your senses you feel your hand in theirs, to feel your feet on the floor, to feel yourself walking.
visualize your comfort character leading you to a door. once you are ready, open the door or allow your comfort character to open it for you, and walk through.
visualize / affirm that you are surrounded by a bright white light. begin I am affirmations.
if you feel a falling sensation ⎯
continue to affirm until you feel yourself hit the ground. once your vision changes from the bright white light, open your eyes. you will be in your desired reality.
if you do not feel a falling sensation ⎯
once you feel as though your consciousness has disconnected from your original self and reality, visualize your desired reality self laying down where you will wake up, in the same position as your body in your original reality.
go into your desired reality body. you can use your senses to feel your surroundings in your dr, but you do not have to.
when you are certain that your surroundings have changed, open your eyes.

the raven method ⎯ ✧
key: ☾ – asleep methods ☼ – awake methods ✧ – either
the method ⎯
meditate – although this step is entirely optional, I find it easier to shift / fall asleep when I meditate beforehand. most people choose to listen to 6Hz theta waves or other subliminals during this.
lay down – originally, laying down in the starfish position (where your limbs are as far from each other as possible) was considered a "requirement". this is misinformation. many shifters have found that they shift faster when they lay in a comfortable position and allow themselves to move. for me personally, I get the most symptoms when I lay flat on my back, with my limbs close together but not touching, and don't move. experiment and see what works best for you!
count to 100. I prefer to count on inhales only (inhale 1, exhale, inhale 2, exhale). you can affirm that you are shifting in between each number or in increments.
after you reach 100, affirm that you have shifted to your desired reality. many have found that I am affirmations are most effective for them. if you'd like, you could also visualize, but it is not required.
if you have not fallen asleep or fully shifted yet, you can either restart your counting or affirm until you fall asleep or fully shift. I find that it is easier for me to fall asleep while counting.
note ⎯
it's okay if you lose your train of thought. it's natural to as you get closer to falling asleep. simply refocus your attention on shifting and your desired reality.

the pillow method ⎯ ☾
key: ☾ – asleep methods ☼ – awake methods ✧ – either
note ⎯
this method suggests having a script – in my opinion, this is not absolutely necessary, and you can get away with only writing affirmations. many people also prefer to write their script and affirmations on paper, but writing it digitally is fine.
many also use this in tandem with other methods.
the method ⎯
read through your script and/or list of affirmations before you go to bed. relax through this.
place your script or phone under or near your pillow.
lay down in a comfortable position. you may listen to subliminals if you wish to, but it is not required.
affirm to yourself that you will shift as you fall asleep. let sleep come naturally, don't try to force it.
optional steps ⎯
say affirmations such as I am going to shift to my dr tonight throughout the day. you could also write them down throughout the day, or even set timed reminders on your phone so you don't have to remember to affirm.
visualize your desired reality as you fall asleep. if visualizing is difficult for you, answer questions instead; where are you? are you standing, sitting, or laying down? what can you see directly in front of you? what are you wearing? what do your clothes feel like?

shifting masterlist
key: ☾ – asleep methods ☼ – awake methods ✧ – either
updated 12.09.22
remember you can customize any method to be an asleep or awake method. the symbols are simply meant to categorize the methods as they were originally intended.
"ratings" are based on how easy I think they are, not on whether they worked for me.
‧₊˚ shifting methods ‧₊˚
↳ visualization methods
☼ the julia method
⎯⎯⎯ the julia method is one of the most basic shifting methods, and is most often recommended for beginners. this method is affirmation heavy and involves counting. ⎯ rating – 5/5. this is a great introduction into shifting. counting, affirmations, and visualization are the three most basic parts of most methods, so this is a great method to figure out what works best for you.
☾ the whisper method
⎯⎯⎯ this is originally a manifestation method, so it is a great thing to keep in your repertoire. it's extremely easy to do, and even though I have mild aphantasia, this method seems to work for me. ⎯ rating – 5/5
✧ the valentino method
⎯⎯⎯ this method was made by shiftoker @alexaprentiss. it involves using the five senses. many people have shifted with this! ⎯ rating – 4/5
☼ the heartbeat method
⎯⎯⎯ this method is relatively easy, but could take a while compared to others. it does include a falling sensation, but if you're like me and you have a fear of falling, I included an alternative ending to this method! ⎯ rating – 3/5
☼ the train method
⎯⎯⎯ this method is probably best suited for those with experience tricking their senses. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this to a beginner. that being said, there's very few steps, which takes the ease rating up a point. ⎯ rating – 3/5
☾ the mirror method
⎯⎯⎯ this method may be a bit controversial depending on your spiritual beliefs regarding mirrors, but worry not, I've customized this method for those of us who feel uncomfortable using mirrors as portals! it's a bit more visualization heavy than I like, but I actually combine this with the staircase method, so it's not too long. ⎯ rating – 4/5
☾ the staircase method
⎯⎯⎯ this method is visualization heavy, moreso than I would consider standard. this really pushes you to use your senses, so if you struggle with that, I don't think this method is for you. ⎯ rating – 3/5
to be continued
↳ no visualization methods
✧ the raven method
⎯⎯⎯ this raven method is one of the most basic shifting methods, and it's most often recommended to baby shifters. it does not require visualization, and it introduces you to most of the basic steps to any shifting method. ⎯ rating – 5/5
☾ the pillow method
⎯⎯⎯ this is by far the easiest method that there is! it's as simple as putting your script or affirmations under your pillow, or as complicated as stacking multiple different methods on top of it. ⎯ rating – 5/5
☾ the blanket method
⎯⎯⎯ this is an incredibly easy, relatively low-effort method. most of your time will be spent relaxing and winding down before you even begin to attempt. it's a great method if you like to focus on self care, have trouble visualizing, or if you need something more low-impact. ⎯ rating – 5/5
to be continued
‧₊˚ shifting tips ‧₊˚
you do not need anything to shift – intention is truly all that matters
there is nothing holding you back from shifting except for the things that you allow
you do not need to be perfectly still in order to shift
you do not need to be in the starfish position to shift, many people have said that they have the most success shifting when they listen to their body
breathe through uncomfortable symptoms
if you have uncomfortable symptoms, imagine that you're doing something related to them in your desired reality. feeling like you're falling? imagine that you're flying on a broomstick. feel hot? imagine that you're sitting by a fire. heart racing and having anxiety? visualize yourself going through something that would make yourself anxious
when you use your senses to be able to shift, it's okay if you don't actually see, smell, feel, taste, or hear them. affirm that you do anyways. fake it until you make it. but try to stay consistent, focus on one sound. affirm that you're hearing a specific song playing on your stereo, but don't keep switching songs.

the valentino method ⎯ ✧
key: ☾ – asleep methods ☼ – awake methods ✧ – either
credit ⎯ @alexaprentiss on tiktok
the method ⎯
read over your script. if you do not have one, spend a bit of time thinking about your desired reality (scenarios, your friends, your name and family, etc)
write a letter to someone in your desired reality as your desired reality self. it does not need to be detailed, it can be as simple as asking your comfort character for their notes in a class. this can be written physically or digitally.
visualize the position that you will wake up in. use your five senses to visualize your dr.
begin to move about the space that you plan to wake up in. really incorporate your senses into this.
continue to do so until you fall asleep or shift.

the whisper method ⎯ ☾
key: ☾ – asleep methods ☼ – awake methods ✧ – either
note ⎯
this was originally a manifestation method. there are a few different variations of this method that I have found, which I will list below.
vida's version ⎯
lay down in a comfortable position and play a subliminal or 6Hz theta waves. begin to relax. you can focus on your breathing, count, or just meditate.
when you feel that you have reached a meditative state, begin to visualize your current reality self coming into a room where your desired reality self is ⎯ I recommend visualizing your dr self laying down in your dr bedroom.
approach your dr self. take your time with this – perhaps use your senses to feel yourself walking.
lean down and whisper shifting affirmations in your dr self's ear until you feel ready to move on. they can be any affirmation, but I generally use this: you have shifted you have shifted you have shifted
when you feel ready to move on, allow your cr self to lay down in the same place and position as your dr self, thereby merging your two selves and becoming your dr self.
I lightly visualize my dr bedroom at this point, although this is not required. I count to 100, using shifting and identity affirmations every 25th number.
continue to count and affirm until you fall asleep. you will wake up in your desired reality.
madame lovi's version ⎯
listen to subliminals or theta waves until you reach a meditative state. they also recommend using I am affirmations.
when you feel relaxed, turn off or turn down the subliminals and lay down in a comfortable position. madame lovi recommends that you do not move as much as possible, but it's not necessary to stay still.
visualize your dr self or your comfort character whispering affirmations to you. use your senses to really feel the whispers.
continue doing this until you fall asleep.
@shiftinggals on tiktok's version ⎯
lay down in a comfortable position and listen to subliminals or theta waves until you reach a meditative state.
visualize yourself as an invisible spirit approaching yourself.
visualize yourself whispering in your physical body's ear you will shift three times.
kiss your physical self on the forehead before walking out of the room that you were in.
visualize your physical self shifting to your desired reality

the julia method ⎯ ☼
key: ☾ – asleep methods ☼ – awake methods ✧ – either
optional steps ⎯
read your script if you have one,
look over pictures, videos, or edits that remind you of your desired reality
relax – take a bath, read a book, unwind.
the method ⎯
meditate for ten minutes, or however long feels best, while listening to 6Hz theta waves.
lay down in a comfortable position (you do not need to be in the starfish position to be able to shift).
begin saying affirmations that begin with I am I am pure consciousness I am shifting to my desired reality I am in my desired reality
if/when you feel symptoms (symptoms are not necessary to shift. if you do not get symptoms, move onto this step whenever you feel ready or called to), begin counting to 100.
you can add your shifting or identity affirmations in between each number, in increments, or you can wait until you finish counting. identity affirmations ⎯ I am [number] years old I am [dr name] I live in [dr location]
use identity affirmations until you feel disconnected from your body.
begin visualizing your desired reality until you feel your surroundings change or you have signs that you have shifted (a smell, a sound, a feeling).
notes ⎯
it is okay if your mind wanders for a moment. push those intrusive thoughts away and go back to your step. remember that nothing holds you back from shifting, except for the things that you allow.
I have, I can, I feel, etc affirmations can also be used. I have great experiences with these.
you can change, add, or remove any parts of any method. do whatever you think is best. methods are guidelines, not gospel.

hey, I'm vida! my pronouns are she / they. I'm 21.

welcome! I learned about reality shifting sometime towards the end of '20. ever since then, I've been trying to shift to my desired realities. I've managed to shift to one-offs, but have yet to fully shift to any scripted realities. reality shifting has helped me grow as a person. I've learned to love myself, my personality, and my appearance – all things that would have taken years for me to learn in one singular reality, if I ever did at all.
I'm hoping that with this blog, I'll be able to document my shifting journey, as well as possibly make some new friends.

‧₊˚ rules ‧₊˚
✧ please do not interact if you don't believe in shifting, there's really no point in visiting here if you've made your mind up.
✧ please do not trauma dump. I need to protect my own mental health first. please reach out to a professional or a loved one if you are in need of help or support.
✧ be kind. I want this to be a safe space for anyone and everyone.
✧ if people ask me shifting questions, or questions about my desired realities, I will make a #asks-masterlist page. please refer to this page before asking a question. the answer may already be on my page! as of 20-08-22, this rule does not apply.
