the julia method ⎯ ☼
key: ☾ – asleep methods ☼ – awake methods ✧ – either
optional steps ⎯
read your script if you have one,
look over pictures, videos, or edits that remind you of your desired reality
relax – take a bath, read a book, unwind.
the method ⎯
meditate for ten minutes, or however long feels best, while listening to 6Hz theta waves.
lay down in a comfortable position (you do not need to be in the starfish position to be able to shift).
begin saying affirmations that begin with I am I am pure consciousness I am shifting to my desired reality I am in my desired reality
if/when you feel symptoms (symptoms are not necessary to shift. if you do not get symptoms, move onto this step whenever you feel ready or called to), begin counting to 100.
you can add your shifting or identity affirmations in between each number, in increments, or you can wait until you finish counting. identity affirmations ⎯ I am [number] years old I am [dr name] I live in [dr location]
use identity affirmations until you feel disconnected from your body.
begin visualizing your desired reality until you feel your surroundings change or you have signs that you have shifted (a smell, a sound, a feeling).
notes ⎯
it is okay if your mind wanders for a moment. push those intrusive thoughts away and go back to your step. remember that nothing holds you back from shifting, except for the things that you allow.
I have, I can, I feel, etc affirmations can also be used. I have great experiences with these.
you can change, add, or remove any parts of any method. do whatever you think is best. methods are guidelines, not gospel.

hey chaai! do you have any tips on how to not fall asleep when you are trying to shift?
ironically you sent this after i fell asleep doing a sleep method 😭
now, speaking of sleep methods, i feel compelled to remind everyone — you SHOULD fall asleep when doing a sleep method !!! that’s like the last step !! you let yourself drift off into slumber and you shift !!
i know it can be discouraging when you open your eyes to the same room as the previous night, i know it can feel like failure, but it isn’t because you fell asleep
most of the time, i find that i haven’t woken up in my dr bcs i didn’t properly let go of my cr — letting go is smth i still struggle with, i’ve become so attached to this place?? and that’s ok !! it can take a little practice but it doesn’t mean it’s impossible !!
now, if you’re doing an awake method and you keep falling asleep, here are some tricks you can use :
try shifting with your eyes open
it’s been done !! i know it sounds challenging but this is a good trick to use if you’re really good at zoning out !! and basically you just stare at a spot without actually registering what you’re staring at? the entire point is for you to keep your eyes open and your mind awake with the intention to shift
don’t shift at night
if you know you have a habit of falling asleep, but you would like to be awake for your shift, then stop doing it at night !! i find that whenever i’ve shifted awake (and i have done it!! just for a few seconds tho ..) i always shift right after waking up in the morning, during that almost dreamlike timeframe, when you feel you’re body waking, your eyes aren’t open, but your mind is awake. try shifting then !! i really recommend this bcs you’re waking with the intention to shift, you have a clear goal and yet it’s not something that’s been building up all day that it feels impossible to achieve? i hope that made sense
shift with music on
this can be a double edged sword at times but the key is to pick music that you know you won’t fall asleep to !! not the smooth and soft melodies but rather the more upbeat tunes that get your mind whirring and keep your thoughts focused on your intention to shift, maybe by imagining scenarios that pertain to the song or just imagining yourself in your dr listening to the very same music, maybe it’s songs that your dr friends or s/o introduced to you? make it smth memorable and meaningful but not exactly relaxing, ya know?

I don’t really know what to do anymore and I need help.
I’ve been stuck in what feels like an endless shifting block. You name the method, I’ve probably tried it. I’ve meditated, changed my mindset, made so many scripts, and repeated affirmations until they lost meaning, and still nothing. I fall asleep and wake up right back here. Or I am laying, sitting for hours getting into full void state and having nothing happen and having to get up and continue my day.
No mini shifts, no hearing or feeling my DR 😭
The closest I’ve ever gotten was back in 2022, I thought I could feel my DR surroundings and even heard something, but even then I had to gaslight myself through the whole method. And honestly, that moment felt more like a hallucination from sleep deprivation than an actual shift. I get so jealous reading the storytimes and actuall shifts.
I know I sound negative, but in these five years I’ve been trying to stay positive, trust the process, but for a while now it feels like I’ve hit a wall that no amount of forced belief or mental gymnastics can break down.
So this isn’t one of those posts that ends with a new method recommendation or a “just take a break” I’m not here to hear that again. What I need is real advice something that actually helps move the needle. Something honest.
If you’ve ever been in this place, really in it, you know how draining it is. And if you know how to help please do.
Because I want to believe, I just need something to hold onto.

Shifting Method for Genshin Impact Shifters

Could be an awake or asleep method, merely adjust to what works for you.

When doing the method envisioning/imagining is required for this method. If you cannot do this alter this method heavily or use a different method.
It is best if you envision by looking out of your eyes and not a "floating camera" looking upon yourself during this method.
────── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──────
Start this method by envisioning your OR Self, you will begin to envision yourself the way your DR Self is when instructed by the method.
Once you are comfortable and feel ready to begin, you can envision your OR self with primogems floating around you in whatever way you want. But after some time the primogems turn blue and a few purples flying out in front of you. They fly out and you see them go underneath clouds underneath your feet. This can repeat as many times as you want but none of the primogems become gold wishes.
When you feel ready to shift envision the body of your OR self, turn into a golden wish and fly out into the clouds along with 9 other wishes (of any color). You as the wish can fly over any location in Tevet that you want but when you land envision your DR self, standing in the place you will "wake up" when you shift.

It's been a whileeeeee. But I had a bit of a realization after coming back to shifting after a while away. I've been trying to do asleep methods since I've started trying again.... But I keep being upset when I fall asleep? Like I think I've been treating asleep methods like awake methods this whole time. Like I've been upset that I'm falling asleep at the middle or end or whatever, meanwhile I know logically that it's what you do in an asleep method, you go to sleep eventually.
So the question I'm left with is basically: what are asleep methods really, and how do I do them and have them work as opposed to awake methods? If anyone else has experienced this or knows the answer, it would be much appreciated ^-^

testimonials mostly result in “mini shifts”
i made the following modifications:
nontraditional subliminals (looping instrumental soundtrack. this music would be playing in the area i’m aiming for, so no “breaking the immersion” here. added bonus: i already associate it heavily with my destination so it’ll help me keep it in mind.
doing this in the middle of the day, finally. still going to be in a comfortable position but hopefully i won't fall asleep this time.
final result: no shift.
started to definitely get the described symptoms! vision felt very odd and started to go black. i've had this happen before when i stared at things for a very long time and frankly i think it's because of the cones in your eyes getting tired. but it's still cool that i managed to sit still long enough to get that to start happening. unfortunately i couldn't keep my internal “what will i do today” monologue going for much longer than ten minutes, and then i got distracted and started thinking about tiktok, and then i did exactly what the method told me not to do and zoned out. and then i woke up five minutes later. the powernap was invigorating but it was literally the middle of the day so i don't know why i fell asleep.
changes for next time:
get a better sleep schedule.
otherwise? none. i feel like from here on out it's just going to be an exercise in getting in the right mindset and staying focused. my goal is to increase the amount of time i can stay focused. likely will be attempting a shift maybe twice a day for a while. this will be a lot of trying and failing with no changes so i’ll record any new or interesting things, but the next post will only be after i make a bit of progress or get fully stuck with this method… or i just check back in a week.

Listen, listen, doing an awake method and the outside distracting me is one thing. I’ve managed to work my way around that most days thanks to meditation and noise canceling headphones.
But like what do I do when my IR S/O who’s part of the method starts derailing the method?!
I was visualizing our apartment‘s living room to do Liz‘ new method where you spot different things and you’re S/O is asking you questions.
So I stood there like „Urgh, this takes so much effort. Do you know how hard I have to focus for this?!“
And Cipher came up from behind, started nibbling my fucking neck and said „the only thing you need to focus on is me“
Which flustered me so much I was instantly wide awake (as opposed to in the meditative state I was in before).
Sooo yeah. New achievement: failing awake methods cause you visualize too well???

hello shimmer! just recently found your page and i am OBSESSED!! love your blog so much, thanks for what you do!
i'd like to know if you have any tips to stay awake when trying to shift?
i personally have tried the 'destabilized awareness' methods that you've mentioned and i honestly didn't like them (super trippy and it's hard for me to get into that half aware half asleep state). i've always either completely fallen asleep, or just got a really bad headache lol. i've been meaning to try asleep methods but i may or may not have control issues and i struggle with letting go (i'd really appreciate if you could do a blog on this topic actually). so i think awake methods will work best for me (except for the falling asleep during the method part). and yes, i know that methods aren't a must for shifting, but i believe that it'll really help me (cause again, its hard for me to just 'surrender my shifting journey')

this ask was a similar question and that might help with the not falling asleep part. on the one hand, it's very common for people to struggle with accidentally falling sleep because the process of the method is so similar to how you normally go to sleep. it may take multiple tries, or conscientious practice. however, if you're trying over and over something that's making you feel bad or negatively affecting you or it's just not working, it's best not to fight against yourself, in my opinion.
my post about destabilized awareness methods also has a distraction method, i think 2(c) which doesn't require any amount of being half awake and half asleep, your CR self should remain fully awake for that. you could make similar methods as well of your own, or maybe try out sleep methods by altering them in a way that feels right for you (ie, you don't have to "surrender your shifting journey" just because it's a sleep method.) i'm eventually going to make a post on absence of awareness methods (including sleep methods!) which may have some pointers

I have come to the conclusion that sleep methods don't work for me, I might just switch over to only awake methods for now on. Like, sure, I have dreams about shifting and all, but it never goes further than that. The awake methods are the ones that usually help me shift anyways.

made sure i wasn't imminently hungry so the pickle thing didn't happen again
still in my bed, because the only time i'm finding to do this is at night, but i did sit up this time so i could see my room and focus on something concrete
i also decided to try and pavlov myself (associate a stimulus with shifting, and have this help me get into the mindset in the future). i figure an easy one to control is taste. because wintergreen lifesavers are such a specific flavor and i have a ton of them, i figure i can just use those. going forward, i’ll be eating one before every shifting attempt unless specified. should be noted that i won't let it dissolve in my mouth passively while i attempt shifting because the extra texture would probably distract me, and it's also a choking hazard if i were to fall asleep.
final result: no shift.
i sort of had the described visual darkness going on but i'm almost 80% sure it was because my eyes kept closing more and more. eventually i blinked and woke up ten hours later. that's a lesson to me to not do an awake method at night again. i did wake up with a bit of disorientation (probably from my last memory being sitting upright, and now i was laying down, plus the change of light) but otherwise didn't feel any “symptoms” or other effects that were described from the method or afterwards.
changes for next time:
stop doing this at night. it’ll just keep ending with me waking up a bit confused.
