Desperately searching for help, Hange happens upon Zeke. Suddenly they have hope for Essie, as they happen to know he always has a secret vial of his spinal fluid on him. Zeke is not being very cooperative, however...

🌸 Hope I didn't scare you guys with the style change, my screen time has been absolutely atrocious lately so I tried reducing it by drawing this on paper but I think compiling the sketches to pages digitally kinda defeated the purpose lmao. I enjoyed the process tho!

I'm trying to wrap the Liberio stuff up in the next few parts, it's just kept going xD but I actually have drawn a little bit ahead to get over the artblock so now I have to catch up with the stuff I skipped to get there. 🌸

🌸I used the post cut up there so the text is just gonna awkwardly hang down here lmao, not that I have much to say. Except uhhh sorry?

This part did not want to get made, which is also why I'm posting it at kind of a weird time. I usually like to time these to the end or middle of the week but I'm impatient so. This part has been in my head for a while but I feel like I jinxed myself by saying the prev part was my favourite so far cause I got such art block for this one hhhhhhhh but here we are! Sorry for not showing levihan's goodbye either, I was struggling fr xD but we'll see him again soon enough so🤷🏻‍♂️🌸

As Hange realises they're still holding onto Levi's cape, they rush to take the opportunity to speak to him one final time. Again reminders of the good old days flash before their eyes as they drape the cape around him. Levi doesn't seem to agree though, freezing up at their clearly unwelcome touch, so Hange bids their farewells. They suppose they were already pushing their luck.

What they didn't see coming was Levi snatching their hand in his, something crackling in the air between them as he repeats the words from their last night together. And even though those words add another drop to the well of guilt inside them, Hange is too elated at seeing Levi reach back for them to care. Their body seems to move on it's own, locking their fingers together, and the hesitantly teasing words tumble out of their mouth before they have a chance to think. Strangely, rather than scare him off, their actions invite him closer.

🌸This one might be my favourite so far, I had so much fun drawing it. Also fully killed the part of me that cringes with a metal bat cause I was like is this too soon but I just wanted to draw them smooching in enemy uniformsssss XD🌸

Ghosts of happier times

There are more important things happening all around the two of them, but being so close to each other is awfully distracting. Never mind the sharp blade between them, they both wish they could get closer, wish they could go back to how it was before.

Levi had sworn to himself he'd make that traitor pay if they were to cross paths again, but when he hears them laugh, sees them smile, sees that something spark in their eyes, he sees- Hange. And Hange is someone he can't bring himself to hurt, no matter how much they already hurt him. So he lets them go, even though he's sure he just got played. Again.

Hange, who had started to accept that this is where they would meet their end, is baffled. But then again, Levi has always been kind under that rough exterior. Far kinder than he should be. So even with the sharp blade pressed to their throat, seeing Levi's familiar mannerisms had made Hange feel right at home. Suddenly, just getting to see him again had felt like a gift, even if it meant finally atoning for their actions. But instead he's walking away and Hange doesn't know what to do.

A different kind of reunion

Four years have passed as they do in canon and Hange and Levi have both been licking their wounds (emotional moreso than physical) but only one of them was aware they might meet again sooner rather than later.

Hange has involuntarily climbed the ranks of the Marleyan army while doing their best to keep Essie out of harm's way. Levi has had his hands full trying to keep the Survey Corps from collapsing while not accepting the title of commander, instead waiting until he deemed Armin old enough to be bestowed the title.

The raid Eren forced them into has started and Levi is zipping around Liberio when his eyes fall on a silhouette that has been haunting his nightmares (when he can even manage to fall asleep). As he sees them emerging from the neck of that mutt, something in him snaps and he changes course.

Hange has been running around looking for the warrior candidates while fending off the survey corps soldiers. No, they're island devils. They're praying they didn't hit anyone they know. Knew. Devils. That's right. Nothing more. They stop to ask a group of their underlings if they've seen the kids, but instead of answers they get warnings. They freeze at the sight of Levi (!?) flying towards them and before they can react he's torn them from their titan and tossed them into a wall. Stumbling from the impact, they approach him, something inside them pulling them towards him even now. They have to say something to him, anything, but what is there to say?

As he feels Hange grab onto his cape, hears them call his name, Levi holds onto the flare of anger and betrayal to commit to what he's about to do, stomping down any other emotions he may or may not be feeling, hard. It needs to be done. That's all there is to it.
