Hangover
Last entry … I promise.
“Morning sleepy head.”
A sniff followed by a …
“Eurgh, smells like a brewery in here. Think I’ll open a window and let in some fresh air. ”
Please don’t. .. please don’t. ..
Swish of the blinds and light floods in, along with a beam of searing light. Quickly, the covers are dragged over his head, but are yanked back to reveal a partially naked body underneath.
“Well, there’s a surprise. Never thought of you being the wearing my tee shirt to bed type. You must have been drunk.”
There’s a hearty chuckle.
“Oh, don’t worry, everyone else is in the same condition… except Alan. Grandma wouldn’t let him drink.”
“Go away.”
Another laugh. This time more childlike.
“Hey Virge, looks like you owe me some money.”
Gordon pried his eyes open and glared at his two brothers. One older one younger, his hair stuck up at all angles.
“Leave me alone.”
“I’ll settle for some cake … and not the ones that grandma makes. Since you all ate it without me.”
“Well …” cut in Alan, “technically you were out all day and we didn’t want it to go to waste.”
Virgil laughed.
“I’ll go cook breakfast. Apparently a fry up is the best cure for a hangover. Wonder if Scott and Grandma are awake yet?”
“Just you wait Virgil. One day I WILL see you all hungover. Wait and see.”
“Ha! Promises promises.”

I know I am exceptionally late for this; it was supposed to be for @virgiltracyweek, but all my motivation died and I ended up finishing it late. And it’s only one part of what I was planning on doing. I’ll hopefully still be able to do the rest of it; it’s vaguely based off some RP things that happened this summer with @sonatanotwo, @flyboytracy, @starman-john-tracy, and @gordoncoopertracy. But, anyway, here’s a Virgil! Being exceptionally confused at the start of a long, confusing, plaid-shirt wearing day.

So. Better late than never right? XD I’d had hopes to reveal a fic I’ve been trying to work on forever this week… but… yeaaah. About that. >.>; Soooon. So here’s some art. :D Couldn’t do anything fancy due to reasons, but doodled a new cute Chibi!Virgil and then dug through my sketches folder to find some things I haven’t posted before and finished throwing colour on baby Virg there. …And then I stuck em’ into Tumblr and realized I’d somehow managed adult->teen->kid->baby Whoo :D
Scott and Baby Virg is inspired from some of @flyboytracy’s headcanons and writings. :D

Aftermath - prompt
Tumblr media
Lucy sighed and flopped heavily onto one of the chairs, surveying the aftermath of Virgil’s birthday party. Groaning, she picked up one of the soggy serviettes and grimaced.
Had it been worth the aggravation she wondered.
“Of course it had,” came the reply from her mother in law.
Lucy stirred but Ruth put a hand on her shoulder.
“No, you stay put,” she said softly, “you’ve done enough, just put those feet up and I’ll do the rest. After all, I managed to get the boys to sleep. That was no mean feat.”
Lucy knew the reason behind that. Finding preservative free orange juice was extremely tricky to find, even for the CEO wife of a multi millionaire corporation. So they had to make do with whatever they could get on the shelves.
Cue hyper Gordon, buzzing around the place, only insisting on eating from the PURPLE plates and crying because Derek next door had stolen the last slice of cake, despite Lucy carefully cutting enough to share.
John had vanished into his room, the minute the horde of little terrors arrived. Virgil ended up tugging Scott off another kid, because he poked fun at Gordon’s brightly coloured tee shirt and the way he zoomed around the place pretending to be a fish.
Jeff promised to be home, but he was delayed due to an incident that was out of his control. So, a heavily pregnant Lucy and her mother in law had to handle the party.
She watched as Ruth picked around the paper plates, scooping the crumbs into a bucket.
“I swear,” she said, rubbing her temples, “I’m never going through that again.”
Ruth turned to look at her and smiled.
“You’ll say that now, but wait and see. You’ll be stressing out over birthday parties for a long time. Trust me on that one.” “You reckon?” “Oh, I know.”
@virgiltracyweek
EDIT
I know it was supposed to be Hangover, but I preferred a little back story here and took some liberties, tweaking it a little.
Sorry

Mea Culpa - WIP Excerpt
For #virgiltracyweek, Day 8: August 21st - Bonus Round - ‘The Hangover’.
This is the opening scene of a WIP that a friend requested a long time ago, one which I’m hoping will eventually spark again at some point. Basically the gist is that Grandma’s not the only one who has an ineptitude when it comes to the Automated Kitchen Module… I know this is rather a teaser, as it’s going to be a long time before you lot get the entire fic, but I needed something to round #virgiltracyweek out, and this is it. Enjoy, and if anyone has any questions or curiosities, feel free to send me an ask or PM, my inbox is always open.
Carrying his mobile tablet, Virgil padded into the lounge in socked feet, humming under his breath as he contemplated just sitting and relaxing for an hour or so before dinner. It had been a full-on morning with a rescue that had begun well before breakfast, and it had resulted in a few hungry Tracys taking off for an industrial fire in France. Thankfully, all International Rescue had been called on to do was to prevent the flames from spreading to the school just down the road, so the four earthbound Tracys had made it back in time for a late lunch to supplement the ration bars that they had consumed en-route to Versailles.
They’d all scattered to the winds once they’d landed, Virgil knew; he’d stayed in Two, grabbing a qwik-meal from his stash in one of the silo freezers and warming it up in the miniature heating module he’d smuggled back from the mainland one time, before he’d started the maintenance he’d promised himself he’d get out of the way sometime this week.
It was one of his main sources of food, especially when Grandma had been busy in the kitchen, and he knew she had been over the past few days. Virgil was equipped with a large enough sense of self-preservation to stay clear when that had happened. His digestive system had disagreed with one too many forced consumptions of his grandmother’s cookies to be anything else but wary. It wasn’t that the woman couldn’t cook, Virgil admitted ruefully, it was just that she couldn’t do it with the Automated Kitchen Module and with there being no actual stove facilities on the island, well, that had therefore caused the food issues that the family seemed to be facing recently…
Grandma had only moved to the island two months before Jeff Tracy and Kyrano had vanished, and with Kayo’s mother having died, and the Tracy matriarch being so adamant on the fact that the boys needing to not worry about feeding themselves while there were rescues and the like to be getting on with, none of them really felt like hurting her feelings. It had turned into a bit of a cycle, and so it was every man (or woman, in Kayo’s case) for themselves when it came to culinary escapades, for which Virgil was actually pretty grateful.
So, with his stomach satisfied and his head full of the idea that he might do some digital sketching for the evening, he settled himself on the couch within the pit, and lost himself in his drawings.

Change prompt
Looking back, Virgil recalled the many changes in his family’s lives. The births of little brothers Gordon and Alan. Graduating with honours, effectively gaining a degree in Engineering. Help his father to set up International Rescue and moving lock stock and barrel to the self named Tracy Island.
Another change was that of learning that Kayo was related to the Hood. But before that revelation, the biggest change was the disappearance of their father. Leaving everyone high and dry, they decided that it was only fair to continue their fathers legacy. After all, he invested millions in this project.
Yes, it was going to be rough. But they were going to do it.
It might not have been the best change in their lives … but they were determined to face whatever challenges that happened to bulldoze into their lives.

August 20th - Change
Tumblr media
“Waiting for a change to set us free
Waiting for the day when you can be you and I can be me
Waiting for hope to come around
Waiting for the day when hate is lost and love is found”
~~~
Christina Aguilera - Change
I believe this is Virgil’s song when he wants to cheer him up.
They are the change and hope people are waiting for.
For #virgiltracyweek Day 7: August 20th - Change.
~ Virgil doesn’t much like change. He gets too stuck in his ways; too much of a stickler for routine, for his comfort zone, for hard-wired, rarely-changed behaviours that he cannot easily untangle himself from. He’s good at relaxing, at unwinding, but only when he knows that he can control the outcome.
He doesn’t like surprises, he doesn’t like any alterations to his methods of doing things. He doesn’t like doubting himself. If he doesn’t allow for any room for error, then there’s no chance that he’ll mess up somehow and not only disappoint himself, but everyone else who is relying on him.
He’s good enough at telling others to take it easy on themselves, but less so when it comes to looking at himself in the mirror.
Life-changing situations tend to throw people like Virgil for a literal loop.
Considering the sort of person he is, how much routine he needs to function adequately just in day-to-day situations, much less in a rescue situation, where, he manages to allow for some sort of leeway and accept that things have to be flexible, maybe it’s not surprising he ends up having to control everything in his life even more strongly than before. Nor the fact that he actually, if unintentionally attempts to drive himself into the ground while doing so.
Even his carefully-organised, rationalised notes and precise, careful scheduling cannot help him. Not with this. This… This is harder. ~
Day 7 of @virgiltracyweek - Prompt: Change Everything changed when the boys became a part of International Rescue. Any fears they had were pushed aside because, as Jeff always told them, Great things never came from comfort zones
