Today has been an annoyance due to the ID check, and a tragedy due to something else. I got called to a remote lake and found a bunch of dead magikarp and Gyrados. The lake was full of toxins and stuff and the few Gyrados and magikarp that survived were really sick and lethargic. They were covered in wounds and blood. I don’t know if they are going to survive the night, but we brought them to the ICU to try and get them some relief. Some of them had to be euthanized because of their injuries. They had been hurt beyond repair and they were suffering. I held each of the dying Gyrados on that lakeside beach and gave each of them the shot to end their suffering. They were too far gone to do anything. The others keep telling me that I did the right thing, but it doesn’t make it any easier for me to accept. It’s made worse that I’m looking after the orphaned eggs and fry of those Gyrados. I don’t know if I can do this. How can I look at those little magikarp knowing that I sealed their parents’ fates? The others tell me that it’s not my fault, but I’m the one who made the call. I saw the conditions and I made the call. I should have tried harder. I should have brought a blissy with me.
