Give My Whole Self

They said to Him, “Caesar’s.” And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

Though this scripture refers to tithing, today I'll like to encourage you to do the same with your service, time and efforts. In sharing, loving and giving, with a free and joyous heart; not expecting anything in return nor doing so in the hope of recognition but for the joy it gives to do it.

There are many ways to do this, from as little as showing affection to your child / spouse / neighbour in the morning to an hello coupled with a smile to a stranger on the street. Choosing to refrain from roadrage and give way even when you have the right of way, to buying an extra meal for the homeless man sat by the fast food restaurant drive thru; not waiting for him to ask but just doing it for the sake of ensuring he too gets a meal. Even simpler things like carrying an extra umbrella on a rainy day to give to someone in need, to assisting an elderly person / frail / pregnant or mother with child with their shopping bags when it's clear they are struggling. Or even just holding the door open for another person to enter or exit. These are just a few ideas but there are so many other ways.

Cultivate an habit of doing good, giving back even in the smallest of ways, allow it to become a lifestyle and watch how you increase in these things.

“But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good.”

It sounds like common sense I know, yet this is something I too am guilty.

I pray today we recieve the understanding that giving to charity on a monthly basis alone is not enough. Value is found in the things we personally get stuck into, giving ourselves physically, mentally and emotionally.

“Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’
