Her knees dug into the damp earth, like the roots of an old tree, holding her in this nightmare. Arthur lay in her arms, which felt alien. The wound in his left side was so deep she could see his crimson-soaked insides glistening. Despair – cold, sticky – gripped her heart. El felt like a grain of sand tossed into a raging ocean of grief.

His once-beloved shirt was a pathetic barrier against death, but it was the best she had to try and stop the bleeding. Desperately pressing it against the wound, El prayed that Letty would arrive in time..."Palash" looked at her, and his eyes reflected everything: pain, love, regret... "It'll be alright," a barely audible, raspy whisper cut the Wanderer's heart sharper than a knife. She watched the light fade from his eyes, life leaving him, leaving only an empty shell."Arthur, please, hold on... Letty... will be here soon... you can do it!" Ellaria whispered. Unfortunately, Letty couldn't teleport, unlike Kaya, who hadn't contacted her. The Wanderer closed her eyes. She couldn't lose him, not now, not like this! A soft smile through a veil of tears seemed impossible, but Arthur tried - for her. A crimson trickle of blood ran from the corner of his mouth, dripping onto the armor. The last bastion of her composure fell.El leaned down, pressing her lips to Arthur's - greedily, desperately, imploring... Tears streamed down her cheeks, her lungs constricted as if the air had suddenly run out. The last kiss - what he would take with him to the other side.The man's hand touched her cheek in a comforting gesture, then fell limply. The last spark of life in his eyes extinguished - Arthur James Nightingale was dead.

He was alive. He was here. Nearby.The man looked at the girl for a couple of moments, then gathered her in his arms, hiding her in the circle of his arms, as if behind a shield.

"Sol's wounds, Ellie... you were... you were screaming so much in your sleep..." he whispered bitterly.

The adrenaline faded, leaving emptiness. El embraced the man in return, holding him tightly. A betraying sob shattered the silence, and, hiding her face against his chest, the girl quietly cried."Shhh... it's okay. I'm here," Arthur murmured softly, stroking her hair and back in a comforting gesture. "Everything will always be alright now."

Tired thoughts

Lately, I've been very busy with work. Today, for the first time in a month, I logged into the game and finally felt good. Finally, El can fight Techrot side by side with her beloved Arthur or take him along for a K-Drive ride on Venus. Until I opened the game, I didn't fully realize how much I missed it.

And it's wonderful TzT.
