Everybody clap and cheer for her most specialest boy ever or she's blowing this building up with all of you in it
Tumblr media
Yet another WIP, this time of Windseeker! Our boy here has acquired some soon-to-be-scars during a RP, so I felt compelled to draw them and finally give him a proper reference sheet in the process
Ft. Valorie (for scale)
(HEAVILY inspired by @lumiidragon 's Stormcutter OC's ref sheet. I really liked the layout and presentation of your girl <3)
Windseeker lore because I don't talk about him enough:
He's a young adult Stormcutter who was born in captivity, and only learned to fly when Valorie took him under her wing (pun). Valorie meets him while she's studying dragon care under Fishlegs, during her and Iskar's visit back to Berk.
Windseeker used to be extremely reactive and an anxious wreck during his time on Berk, unused to living among other dragons and scared of most people, which made him a nuisance and a safety hazard. Valorie, taking after Iskar, employs her complete lack of common sense to try bond with him despite everyone and their mothers telling her it's a Bad Idea. She gains a few scars along the way, but comes out the other side with a new best friend and companion for life.
Windseeker is doing much better now that he lives on Ravenholm (no other dragons), but he's still very shy and prefers to keep to himself most of the time. He's at his most confident when Valorie is around, but he's slowly growing fond of the other humans on the island as well.
He gained his new scars during a fight instigated by one of Iskar's newest enemies. Windseeker inserted himself into the battle to try and protect Iskar, but ended up taking a hit from a Skrill in his stead, which pierced through his outer left wing and hit him in the side. He'll recover in time, but it definitely didn't help his already skittish nature.

Some WIPs of Peregrine. I've decided to embrace the LF's beluga whale/orca-ness and thus made her chonkier. And gave her orca teeth :]

Just an art of my night fury oc
It was supposed to be an illustration for my fan fiction about selkie-dragons (I don't know if there's a word for human-dragon shapeshifters)
The concept is that some humans (particular tribe I made for this) can turn into dragons if they wear specific skin. One person can turn into one dragon. For example: we have person A, who can turn into monstrous nightmares and person B, who can turn into gronkle, and if they have a child, they can only transform into one of their parents dragon, which will determine wich clan the child belongs to.
The tribe is extinct by the way. There are only a few people left on the archipelago
Also the signature is "krimson" and not "karmirson " cus I first posted this on another social. Different nicknames because Krimson was already taken on Tumblr

That oneshot is actually the very first thing I ever wrote for Iskar, when he was less of a character and more like an idea I had of "a Night Fury rider but Bad". I edited and tweaked it a bit to fit more with his current version, but it's 99% the same as it was when I first wrote it.
Iskar my first proper HTTYD OC, despite me loving the movies and being a part of the fandom for years at that point. I was worried about creating any Night Fury or NF rider OCs because of the hostility and """cringe""" response I saw so many people express towards them at the time, so creating Iskar and Warden felt unironically freeing.
This guy has been rattling around in my head for a long time now, but I only now got to the point where I could draw him confidently and be happy with the result <3 Plus I get to shove him in people's faces when they ask about him now like "Look!! Look, that's my son!!!"
|| Iskar of Ravenholm - formerly known as the Huntsman
Tumblr media
They say that when he appears, it's like a great shadow passing over the sea. His dragon's wings are big enough to blot out the Sun, and before you know it, your ship has burst into flame.
Smoke envelops you, the air fills with the screams of your crew and the roaring of dragons, and through the hellfire you see his silhouette.
The Huntsman.
And next to him you see his dragon, already eyeing you.
It's a Night Fury. It's bigger than any other you've seen, with scales that blend into the black smoke and wings bigger than the sails of your ship. It's eyes look white against the sea of red around it, and as it begins to prowl closer, snarling, teeth flashing, you find yourself thinking,
This must be what Death looks like.
But the Huntsman holds up a hand, his voice rising above the crackling flames as he says, "Wait." and the dragon halts.
One word.
One word, and Death listens, and turns away from your cowering form to return to its master's side. The Huntsman's outline is dark against the raging inferno that is now your ship, and through your blurry vision, you can see dragons swirling along with the rising smoke. The same dragons you spent weeks trapping and transporting from ship to ship, now free, their angered cries loud enough to make your ears ring.
They all scatter like embers in the wind, until all that remains are you and your crewmates on the burning ship.
And the Huntsman.
He turns to you, then, and you see him properly for the first time since he arrived. The head of the black wolf skin he wears rests on his shoulder, it's glass eyes glinting in the firelight. The Huntsman's face is covered by shadow, but his eyes are bright, and for a moment you can't tell them apart from the wolf's. He's clad in black- or perhaps it's the light behind him that shrouds him in darkness.
He takes a step toward you, dragon in tow.
"Please..." you beg, certain of your demise. If he doesn't kill you, the fire surely will, but that doesn't stop you from trying. He stopped the dragon from attacking you that first time. He's only human. He can be reasoned with.
He stops to stare at you. The dragon at his side looks ready to rip into you at a moment's notice.
Emboldened, you continue, "Mercy, please...! I-I have a family waiting for me, I have a son. Please, don't take his father away!"
He seems to consider you for a moment. Firelight dances across his face revealing hardened eyes smeared with dark charcoal, but you can't read his emotions. Something in his eyes still makes your stomach churn, though.
You know that look. You see it on your crewmates' faces whenever a new dragon is captured and brought on board; a cold, uncaring nonchalance. Your life means nothing to him and you both know it.
The seconds seem to stretch into hours as he stares at you. You don't dare move from your spot, even though you're sure the rest of the crew has already fled the ship. You bought them enough time to escape, and you can't help but think that no matter what happens to you now, you would die a worthy death.
It happens before you realize it. The Huntsman steps forward in the blink of an eye- you see the flash of an axe head, hidden until that point, and feel a sharp pain in your temple before it all goes black.
...
You wake up on the shores of some foreign beach.
There's sand in your teeth, waves blanketing you up to the waist and a throbbing headache behind your eyes. Sunlight blinds you as you peel your eyes open to look around.
The charred remains of your ship surround you in the sand and in the water, blackened wooden planks floating like drowned corpses in the distance. You have no idea where you are. The Sun beats down on you mercilessly, and the water you sit in feels blissfully cold against the searing heat.
You're alive.
It dawns on you slowly and yet all too suddenly, the revelation making your head spin with relief. You survived meeting the Huntsman. You stared into the eyes of Death itself and lived to tell the tale.
And that is exactly what you'll do, you think to yourself, beginning to walk along the shore.
You will continue to live and to tell the tale of the man who arrives like a hurricane, sudden and devastating, bringing fiery destruction down on anyone unfortunate enough to stand in his path.
...
I cannot stress enough how much fun I had while drawing him. He holds a special place in my heart, so I'm very happy to finally have art of him that lives up to my own standards and expectations.
Please welcome the star of the blog and the whole reason it exists in the first place: Iskar of Ravenholm!
(The link in the title leads to his character playlist on Youtube. You can read an extremely abridged version of his story in the playlist's description.)
Alternate version under the cut to show off the Huntsman design better:

Her thumbs traced the dark rings under his eyes and the crow's feet at their corners gently, as though trying to map every little change she might have missed over the course of those ten years. They drifted down to the bump on the bridge of his nose. Ylva tutted. "Oh, your poor nose... when did this happen?"
Iskar lifted his shoulders in a helpless shrug. "Couple years ago. I got into a brawl."
Ylva huffed, eyes moving up to look into Iskar's own. Her eyebrow arched playfully. "Did you win?"
Iskar laughed for what felt like the first time in a decade. His hands moved to hold onto hers and squeezed, while his heart swelled and threatened to burst out of his chest.
"Of course."

I can't believe the first proper drawing of Iskar on this blog is the one where he looks the least like himself 😭 what an introduction
I'm feeling really happy with how this piece is turning out, so I wanted to share it :) Set about a month after Drago's defeat, when Iskar finally gets to give up on being the Huntsman and return home after 10 years. The woman is Ylva, Iskar's adoptive mother

Howdy Train Your Dragon??
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HEAVILY INSPIRED from @tragisbawls western AU and also I believe that one “Howdy Train Your Dragon” post by @wardenofdragons
please let me know if I’ve made any mistakes in crediting but these guy’s posts were my main inspiration fr
Tumblr media Tumblr media
enjoy some WIPs, currently I’m making them for reference so I can draw the gang doing some scenes
Tumblr media
might have gone a bit insane over the festive season and fallen head first into this western AU. basically everything is the same but instead of Vikings it’s cowboys!
- in this AU, Hiccup loses his leg before he meets Toothless in some sort of stampede/horse-related accident, which makes Stoic, the cheif of the town, more protective of him/not want him to go near them
- Hiccup finds Toothless as a wild mustang, trapped in a gorge. Hijinx ensue, Hiccup saves him, and they bond.
-Hiccup and Fishlegs live in the same town. Astrid, Lout, Ruff and Tuff are part of a group of travelling cowboys from out of town or somethin lol. Something happens and Legs and Hic have to travel with them for a bit. Haven’t worked everything out yet but if people have ideas feel free to let me know!
- Ruff and Tuff are in charge of the supplies wagon and they often confuse Barf & Belch with their arguing. The poor horses go in different directions or one of them might stop while the other keeps going 😭
- Meatlug is usually seen pulling a little wagon with extra supplies/Fishlegs rides in the wagon sometimes when they go on adventures so she ends up being the slowest in the group, similar to how she is the slowest of the gang’s dragons
- Hookfang is an Arabian horse so he has a really firey temper and has a similar relationship to Snotlout as in the canon. Snotlout made Hookfang rear up on his hind legs once, but Snotlout fell off and Hookfang left him in the dust 💀
- Astrid is the leader of the cowboys. Stormfly has little braids in her mane as that’s Astrid’s way of showing affection.
(alsomyaskboxisopenifanyonewantstodiscusthisauI AM HAPPY TO YAP-)

She pointed behind herself in Valorie's direction. The riders all moved to look behind Astrid, to the base of the dragon perch where Valorie, the Huntsman and the Night Fury all stood huddled together. The humans were still chatting with eachother, while the Night Fury appeared to be standing guard, one wing extended to offer its riders a semblance of privacy. It wasn't necessary. No one could understand the language they spoke in.
Whatever argument they seemed to be having, Valorie was clearly winning it. The riders all turned back with varying degrees of confusion on their faces. "What are we supposed to be seeing exactly?" Tuffnut asked. "She seems nice." Fishlegs commented, watching as the Huntsman's Night Fury rested its chin on the top of Valorie's head. The girl reached up to pat its snout while her shoulders shook with barely supressed giggles.
(Why would I finish anything I'm writing when I can just share snippets in art posts? Way easier /j)
Drew a new phone wallpaper for myself that doubles as a scene from one of my WIPs <3

This is Peregrine, my personalized SoDOFF Light Fury.
Tumblr media
She's relatively young and small compared to more mature individuals of her species, but she more than makes up for it in personality: She's energetic and mischievous, often picking fights with larger dragons she knows she can easily lose in flight.
She enjoys the company of humans, but won't hesitate to smack someone if she thinks they're overstepping her boundaries. She compliments her rider well, being the troublemaker social butterfly out of the two of them.
Since the game doesn't let you rename the Light Fury or customize her beyond giving her body paints, I decided to just draw her myself. I didn't change much on the basic Light Fury design because I want her to look as similar to the in-game model as possible (for immersion's sake), but I did give her more scale details <3
Tumblr media
Oh, and a saddle- I also gave her a saddle. Inspired by the Nightlights' weave saddles in the game and my insistance on not using the metal shoulder harness bits in any Fury saddle I design.
Saddle mechanics as explained by my mockup sketches:
Tumblr media
I imagine the Light Fury's back sail is softer and more pliable than, say, the Night Fury's rigid back spikes, so the rider can sit much higher on the dragon's back without hurting themself or the dragon. The sail just springs back into shape once the weight is removed.
Tumblr media
Instead of a fixed foothold or stirrup, it's a knee rest which can swivel forward and back based on the rider's needs and preferences. It can be used as a foothold, but only temporarily and for short periods as the shape and height makes it pretty uncomfortable.
(I saw the Pterosaur saddles in ARK when I was young and impressionable and the idea of kneeling in a dragon saddle has stuck with me pretty thoroughly)
