Blades & Ballots - Chapter 7

Characters: Jacob Frye. Katherine Winchester (OC). Crawford Starrick (mentioned)
Word count: 2.1k
Warnings: Fluff in the first half. Mentions of miscarriage, and stillborn. Loss of babies.
Previous chapters: [Chapter 6] [Chapter 5]
Author's note: I wanted to get this chapter out immediately 🙃
They lie there, now happily married. After everything they did... he feels completely spent. He has his arm wrapped around her, keeping her held to him, holding her as close as he can. He has his face buried in her hair, his nose filled with her scent, just feeling completely at ease with her in his arms.
"Mhm." Katherine hums, stretching her arms before wrapping them around Jacob. "You felt amazing."
He can't help the smile that forms on his face as she stretches, and he feels her arms wrap around him.
“You did too, love.” He gently kisses her shoulder, pressing his body against her back, and tangling his legs with hers, wanting to get as close as he can.
They both fall asleep, and before they know it, it's morning. Jacob wakes up first, his eyes opening. He takes in the morning sun, shining through the window. It's early. He can barely make out the sun rising.
He lays still for a moment, savoring the feeling of her curled up against him, her legs tangled with his, her head resting on his chest, as he holds her in his arms, her skin so soft and warm under his hand.
She stirs in her sleep, snuggling closer to Jacob. He can't help a small smile as he feels her hold onto him, snuggling closer to him. He wraps an arm around her, keeping her tight against him. He runs his hand over her hair, and leans down to press a gentle kiss to the top of her head, loving this feeling of waking up with her in his arms.
She wraps her arms around him, still very much asleep.
He can feel her arms wrap around him, and his smile grows. He loves that even when asleep, she turns towards him and holds on to him. He can't help himself. He leans down, and presses a kiss to her forehead, before just holding her close. Just content to just hold her while she sleeps a little longer.
"Morning love." She murmurs sleepily. He can't help but smile, hearing her wake up, and call him "love."
“Morning, love.” He murmurs back, moving his hand up to run through her hair, gently, his other hand moves to her back, as he turns so he can hold her a little tighter, with her on top of him.
They stay in bed a little bit longer, and then Katherine gets up to turn on the tea pot.
He grabs a pair of trousers from his case, and slips them on, before moving to stand next to her, and wraps his arms around her waist, pulling her flush against him. He nuzzles against her neck, and presses a kiss to her skin, as he just stays like that, wrapped around her.
She tilts her head to the side, giving him better access to her neck.
He smiles against her skin, as he feels her tilt her head to give him more access, and he takes the opportunity and gently sucks on her skin, marking her as his.
"Mhm." She hums softly.
He smirks lightly at the little noise she makes. She's so sensitive to his touch, and he loves it. He wants to keep making those noises come undone from her. He pulls away, kissing the mark he left on her before he speaks, his voice soft. “I just can't keep my hands off you.”
She chuckles, "Well, we did get married yesterday and are very much in love."
He smiles, and hugs her a little tighter, pulling her flush against his body, as he rests his head on her shoulder. “I'm going to be like this forever. I want to touch you and kiss you all the time, and I won't stop.”
"It can be 20 years from now, and you'd still be the same." She giggles.
He chuckles, and turns her around to face him. “I'm going to be eighty, and I'll still be pawing at you, love. You're never going to get rid of me. He leans down, and presses a kiss on her nose.
Katherine laughs, wrapping her arms around his neck. "You'll be an old pervert like those damn politicians that my father wanted to marry me off to.”
“I'll be an old pervert, but I'll only be one for you.” He grins, lifting her up, so her legs are wrapped around his waist, and he sits down at the table, with her in his lap.
She laughs as his hands squeeze her thighs as he sits down. He can't help it, he feels her thighs in his hand, and just has to squeeze them. He can't help it. She is just so damn attractive to him. He presses a kiss to her neck, nuzzling against her skin.
He kisses her neck, she lifts her head up. As he does this, she looks over at the table and sees a newspaper with the front page talking about the death of Crawford Starrick.
"Oh God, I hate this man." She says.
He sees the cover of the newspaper, and his mood darkens a bit. He hates that man too, probably more than she does. “Same here, love... I'd go into hell to get another shot at that bastard.”
She chuckles, "He was friends with my father. He wanted him to marry me. He's a creepy man."
He makes a disgusted face as he hears that. Thinking about that guy being anywhere near her, and of him wanting to marry her... and that makes him a little more annoyed.
“He's a slimy git... how'd your father even get to know him?.”
Katherine sighs softly, “He's a politician, and Starrick is, or was a businessman. They tend to work together."
His grip on her thighs tightens just slightly, more out of annoyance, than anything else, as he thinks of a bunch of politicians and slimy businessmen, looking at her like a piece of meat. “I wonder how many of them wanted something… “indecent” from you.”
"All of them. Any businessman in London, my father is probably acquainted with them."
He feels a sense of protective anger rise within him at her words. Of course they did. He can't help but think of them all, like the b-stard, Starrick, looking at her like a piece of meat... He tightens his grip on her thighs, a little tighter, as his eyes darken, and he speaks, his voice a low, possessive growl.
“Didn't any of them know you were already mine?.” he asks.
"This was before I met you. Starrick actually arranged for him and I to be married. Him and my father were working on it, then Starrick died, and plans were thrown out the window. My father panicked and made more arrangements for me to marry another one of his businessmen friends. That's why he got angry when he saw us together at that ball that night."
His anger only grows. The thought of that man thinking he would marry his wife... of her father planning for her to marry that asshole... He's angry... but he pushes it down, and only holds her closer. His voice is still low, and possessive. “I'm glad your father changed his mind. *He leans down, and kisses her collar bone.”
"I know I wouldn't be happy if I ended up marrying any of his associates."
He smiles as he listens to her. He presses his lips on her collarbone, then moves up to her neck, and up to her ear, his voice low. “I'm the only one who's ever going to have you. No one else will touch you. *He kisses her neck, gently sinking his teeth into her skin.”
Katherine moans softly as he sinks his teeth into her skin.
Jacob feels it. He feels her moan. The sound of it goes straight to his core, and just spurs him on more. He gently sucks and gnaws at her skin, leaving another mark on her. Wanting everyone to know she's his.
She wraps his arms around him as he continues to gnaw on her neck.
It's like he can't get enough of her. He needs to be as close to her as he possibly can be. He pulls her closer, her thighs on his, as he starts to move up to her jawline and kisses all along her neck, then up to her ear, to the spot that drives her insane.
5 years later; after years of trying to get pregnant, having a stillborn and two miscarriages. Katherine successfully gave birth to two healthy twin boys.
He was there to hold her hand during every step of it. The stillbirth. The pain it had caused her to go through that again after her first miscarriage. Every time they tried to get pregnant again, his heart would be in his throat at the possibility of her losing the baby again. But the moment that his sons were brought into the world... he felt his heart explode with love. Every time he looked at them, he just felt more love and more pride.
A part of him was terrified that he was gonna lose her during childbirth, along with their baby.
This time was different. She managed to make it through the delivery, despite the fact that it was a difficult pregnancy. But when those babies came into the world safe and sound... it took everything he had to hold himself together. Because he wasn't losing her. He wasn't losing her to childbirth. He had two beautiful children, with the love of his life, and he couldn't have asked for more.
"Samuel and James." Katherine says, laying her childbed, exhausted from the long hours of labor. "I've always loved those names.”
He leans over her, his fingers gently running over one of their sons. He smiles, and looks at her, his heart bursting with love. He hasn't seen a more beautiful site... The woman he loves... holding one of their babies, and the other one in a cradle next to the bed.
Katherine herself was terrified of giving birth. They lost 3 babies just to get to this moment now.
She was scared of dying during childbirth, leaving Jacob a widower along with their babies.
He remembers the first few times. The first miscarriage. The second miscarriage. The stillbirth. He was there through it all... Seeing her going through the pain of losing the babies over and over, and the fear it instilled in her. He remembers all the time he spent, trying to comfort her, as she tried to come to terms with what happened... Every time he held her, trying to do whatever he could to soothe her... It was hard. It was so hard.
Each loss of their babies took a toll on Katherine. She always wanted a family of her own. The 3 losses made her want to stop, and give up on having a family. She lost 3 little girls. The daughter she always wanted, taken away.
He refused to give up. He had to have faith. She would make it. It was hard, and he was terrified of losing her... He remembers how he tried to push his fears down, and be strong for her... He remembers the long talks at night, with her crying in his arms, begging the Gods, any God, for them to give her just one child.
And they were given two. Two healthy twin boys. That day... was the most beautiful day of his life. Holding his sons in his arms... It was everything he's ever wanted. All the hurt, the frustration, the pain, the fear... All of it was gone. All that remained was the overwhelming sense of love, and the feeling of complete and total happiness. He felt everything, and he felt nothing. All that mattered was them, in that moment, and he would go to the ends of the Earth to protect them.
He remembers hearing that doctor, "Mrs Frye, you now have two healthy little boys."
And she wept. At first, he thought they were tears of grief, and he felt his heart shatter. But when she smiled, and laughed, and he realized that those were tears of pure, unadulterated joy... He swore right then and there, he would give his life to protect her, and their sons. He would build them a world, where they would be safe, no matter what.
Katherine was relieved that it was over. The pain was gone, the stress about losing another child, gone. She sighed in relief the second she heard their two boys screaming and crying when they entered this world.
He felt it when she relaxed. Holding her hand for the entire 12 hours, when she finally let out that relieved sigh, he felt his heart feel like it was lighter than air. He leaned down, kissing her head, feeling so much love for her, and he looked at their children, and couldn't believe his luck. They did it. They finally had their family. The family they've waited so long for was finally here.

Blades & Ballots - Chapter 6

Characters: Katherine Winchester (OC). Nathaniel Winchester (OC). Theodore Winchester (OC). Philip Winchester (OC). Crawford Starrick. Mary Anne Disraeli.
Word count: 1.7k
Warnings: Flashback chapter. No Jacob, only Starrick. Please stay so Katherine isn't alone with him.
Previous chapter: [Chapter 5]
Flashback; before Katherine and Jacob met. A party at the Prime Minister's house. She is there with her father, Nathaniel, and her two older brothers, Theodore and Philip.
She hates parties, especially ones with high-ranking politicians like the Prime Minister, because she has to play the role of the perfect, polite, and sweet young woman. She's in a corner by herself with a glass of champagne, wearing a beautiful yet uncomfortable blue and silver dress.
She looks around the party. No one she knows, all of them are either friends of her father or some politicians that shes never heard of.
She notices a group of girls, maybe a few years older than her, looking at her and whispering amongst themselves. She doesn't recognize them, they most likely go to one of the "fancy" girls schools her father had suggested she attend, but she doesn't. She went to an all girl Catholic school when she was in Nottingham, and then homeschooled when they moved to London. They're probably gossiping about her. That's one thing she doesn't like about these parties, the other rich families looking down on her.
“Katherine! Come over." Her father calls her over, his tone as if he were laughing.
She goes over to him, and her two brothers, "Have you met Crawford Starrick?.”
She approaches her father and brothers, and her dad gestures to a gentleman, standing by him. It's Crawford Starrick, the head of the Starrick Industries, and one of the most powerful men in the country. He's not just a businessman but the one that funds the Prime Minister.
And it's well known he has much more influence on the government than the Prime Minister and her father combined, and here he is talking to her father of all people.
She senses her father is trying to put them together.
She's his only daughter, and he's been trying to get her more acquainted with his associates.
The whole situation rubs her the wrong way. She can tell what her father is up to. He's not being subtle in the least, and it's making her uncomfortable. She can feel his hand on her back, trying to push her towards Starrick.
"Miss Winchester, a pleasure." He greets her, gently kissing her hand.
She forces a pleasant smile and cursty. She knows she has to be polite to him, but she doesn't like him. He's got this aura about him, and there's something off about him. He puts on a charming persona, but she can see his intentions. He's sizing her up like a piece of meat. She can feel his eyes on her.
“Mr. Starrick and I were just talking about his various businesses." He tells her, "Maybe, he can help you with getting more involved with us aristocrats."
She knows that code for 'let him woo you', but she knows she has to put on an act for him.
She knows her father has been pushing for her to find and marry a good husband, someone important, someone like Starrick. And right now, here he is, the most powerful man in the country, the one all the other wealthy families try to cozy up to, and he's showing interest in her. It's the ideal scenario, and she knows she has to act the part. So, she puts on her best polite smile, even though she feels her stomach turn at the idea of marrying this man.
Starrick knows what's happening and he's eating it up. This man is probably 20+ years older than her.
He's a full 20 years older than her, that much is obvious just from looking at them. He still got that charming and sophisticated look about him, but underneath is something darker. And he's sizing her up, not in a good way, sizing her up like a piece of cattle at an auction. She can tell from the look in his eyes this man is a predator, and she feels like a lamb about to be devoured.
“We'll leave you two" Nathaniel tells them, him and her brothers move on, leaving Katherine and Crawford by themselves.
And there they are, the two of them, alone. Crawford is looking at her, his eyes roaming over her body now, and she can feel his gaze. There's something animalistic about the look in his eyes, and she can tell he's not just interested in her because she's the daughter of a prominent man, no, there's more to it. He's looking at her like he sees her as an object of desire, something to own.
She feels his hand creep around her waist.
"Miss Winchester." He says as he leads her to a more quiet part of her party.
She hates being touched by him, the feeling of his skin on hers makes her want to recoil, but she keeps the polite smile plastered on her face. She keeps her tone calm, acting like his hand on her waist isn't making her nauseous. "Mr. Starrick.”
“Your father... he's quite the politician." He tells her, "Your family has been of much help for Starrick Industries. Winchester Estates, Winchester printing." He names a few businesses her family owns.
She's not surprised he knows so much about her family and their businesses, and that makes it worse. He's not just interested in her, he's interested in her family as well. The wealth and power her family has must be a plus for him. It's not just her he wants, it's her entire family, along with everything they own. It all adds up in her head, and the thought makes her feel sick to her stomach.
"Us being married can make us the most powerful couple in Britain." He tells her, his grip on her waist, moving up, "With our businesses and ventures, we can own Britain.”
She can hear the words he's saying, the idea he's trying to sell her, and a lump forms in her throat. He wants to marry her, to have her and her family, so that he can be the most powerful man in all of Britain, and use her to get that power. She feels like she's going to vomit. This man isn't interested in her, he's interested in her money and power, and he'd use her as a pawn to get more.
“Katherine Starrick." He says, "It has a nice ring to it.”
She can hear her name with his last name attached to it, and the idea makes her feel nauseous, like she's going to vomit. The idea of being his, tied to him for life, tied to someone who only sees her as a means to an end... it's too much. She forces the bile down and tries to keep the pleasant, polite smile on her face.
"Well, it certainly has a nice sound to it." She tells him, "But I will always like Winchester."
She plays it off as if she's playing hard to get.
He doesn't take it as that. He laughs, almost condescendingly, and he's not convinced for a second. He just sees it as her being coy, trying to be cute. He grips her waist a bit tighter. "Oh, come now. You'll have to make a decision one day. You can't stay single and a Winchester forever.” He tells her.
Katherine laughs softly, "Did my father tell you to say that?.”
He laughs along, but there's still that look in his eyes. He leans in close, almost too close for comfort, and lowers his voice to a whisper. "Oh, he didn't have to. A beautiful, young lady such as yourself needs a husband. Or are you just a tease, Miss Winchester?"
He uses his grip on her waist to pull her a little closer to him. Katherine chuckles nervously, "Well, I know he's been pushing for me to find a husband. So, you're not the first contender.”
He laughs, it's not a genuine laugh. He's playing along, letting her take the lead, but he knows how this is going to go. He's going to get her to marry him, come hell or high water. And he's confident he can.
"Oh, I have no doubts about that. A young, beautiful lady like you? Wealthy, aristocratic, charming. I'm sure you've got a nice, long line of suitors waiting for your favor.”
“Oh, yes I do. All of them are friends, or associates of my father." She tells him, "The majority of them are much older than me.”
He laughs again, that condescending laugh, and his grip tightens a little more. It's almost painful now. And he's still looking at her, with that look in his eyes. Like she's just an object to possess.
"Oh, that's understandable. They see a prime piece of real estate, something desirable, they want to get their hands on it. Can't blame them, considering you're young, beautiful, and rich." He leans in close, and his gaze is almost feral.
As if a guardian were hearing her internal panic, she is saved from him by a familiar voice. She is saved from this man and his actions.
"Miss Katherine Winchester!."
She turns around and sees Mary Anne Disraeli, who is also a friend of her mother, Wendy.
She's grateful to Mrs Disraeli for coming to her rescue. Crawford had her trapped, and she could feel her panic building. She's never been more grateful to see a family friend. She smiles, trying to act like she's enjoying Crawford's presence, but she's ready to pounce on the lifeline that just walked up.
“Mrs Disraeli! What a pleasant surprise.”
"It's so glad to see you, dear." Mrs Disraeli tells her, "I haven't seen you since you were a little girl. How's your mother been?.”
The fact that Mrs. Disraeli seems to be genuinely happy to see her makes her feel like crying. She feels so claustrophobic around Crawford, and the fact that a friendly, familiar face showed up is like a breath of life.
She smiles, trying for normal. "Mother's doing great! Her garden is coming along quite well, her roses are starting to bloom again.”
They continue to chat while Crawford steps away.
Katherine takes this opportunity to get as far away from him as possible.
As she talks with Mary Anne, she discreetly moves away from Crawford. He keeps eyeing her from across the room, and she can see he's annoyed that she slipped away from him. She's never been more thankful to talk about roses and garden arrangements in her life.

Blades & Ballots - Chapter 4

Characters: Jacob Frye. Katherine Winchester (OC). Wendy Winchester (OC). Francine Winchester (OC). Theodore Winchester (OC).
Word count: 2.0k
Warnings: Fluff. Jacob being a HUGE simp.
Previous chapters: [Chapter 1] [Chapter 2] [Chapter 3]
Leaning against a wall in London near Nelson's Column. He looks around and sees a few couples here and there showing their love for each other before looking back at the ring.
His mind is filled with worry. What if she says no? Is she ready for this? Is she going to want to marry him? Is he moving too fast? His heart is racing, he is feeling so many things.
He's never been this nervous or anxious in his life. He keeps his hand in his pocket, gripping the ring tightly, as he waits for his love to appear.
After a few minutes, Katherine appears from the crowd. "Hi love." She says, kissing him on the cheek, "Where to now?.”
He has to force himself to be still for a moment, as her kiss sends his thoughts into a jumble. He smiles at her, and takes her hand in his.
“Follow me.” He says, his fingers intertwine with hers.
She chuckles, not suspecting a thing, "Alright, lead the way.”.
He starts to lead her towards St. James Park. He feels his heart in his throat as he smiles at her, and starts to speak, trying to cover his nervousness.
“I want to ask you something.” He tells her.
She looks over at him, "What is it?."
"I wanna ask you in a different location." He tells her.
She chuckles, "Alright then…. Are you okay? You're acting... funny.”
He tries to hide it as much as possible. He's been on edge all day, and he can't let her know. He has to keep this secret for just a bit longer.
“I'm fine. I promise, I just want to talk for a moment.” He tells her, trying to mask his nervousness.
His thoughts are spinning, and his heart is racing as he leads her to a quiet part of the park, where no one will be around.
They walk into the park. On one side, there are children playing cricket.
At the gazebo near the lake is a group of trumpet ensembles playing "Rule Brittania".
They cross the bridge to the other side of the park, they pass another gazebo with violinists playing. He finds the perfect spot near the water, next to a bed of flowers.
He leads her over to the place where he thought was the most beautiful spot in the park. The water is gleaming in the sunlight, the trees around them are shading the area from the sun, and the flowers are all in bloom. He feels like he is in the perfect spot to ask the most important question of his life.
Katherine doesn't suspect a thing, and that's what Jacob wanted. This is where he wanted to express his love for her, where he wanted to ask her to spend her life with him.
He turns to face her, he looks at her beautiful face and can't help but feel like he's the luckiest man on earth to have this beautiful woman with him. He reaches out and grabs her hand, gently rubbing his fingers over her skin. He can't help but smile. She's so perfect in his eyes, and he can't wait to spend every moment of his life with her. He rubs his thumb over her knuckles, as he continues to watch her for a moment, before finally gathering the courage he needs
“This is such a beautiful spot." She says, admiring the scenery.
He swallows hard, and he's trying to control his shaking. He has to get this right, he only has one chance to ask her. He takes a steadying breath, and looks into her eyes. He rubs her hand with his, needing to feel the contact to keep himself grounded, and speaks softly...
“I found this spot, and I knew it was the perfect place for us... because it's just as beautiful as you are.” He says, his voice somewhat shaky.
“You're too kind." She teases.
He smiles at her. This is the moment. It's now or never. He takes another steadying breath, and gently rubs her knuckles with his thumb. “Darling... I need to ask you something.”
Katherine looks over at him, "What is it?.”
He takes a moment to gather his thoughts, trying not to let his nervousness get the best of him. He glances down at her hand, then back up at her eyes.
“You... you are the most wonderful thing to ever happen to me. You came into my life, and... you captured my heart. You have shown me nothing but kindness, and love, and... you have made me so happy. I... I want to be the person who makes you this happy. I want to be the person who makes sure you are safe and loved. I... want to spend the rest of my life with you.”
She stares at him as he says this. Her heart fluttered with love for him.
He goes down on one knee and reaches into his pocket with the ring, feeling his heart beating faster than ever before. This moment is the most important thing in his life. He's never wanted something to go right more than he does now. He looks up at her, and takes her hand, as he finally asks the question.
“Would you... would you do me the honor of marrying me?.”
Katherine feels her heart skip a beat. She's always imagined what it felt like to be proposed to. She feels a rush of emotions.
"Oh my God." She whispers, tears forming in her eyes, "Yes, yes, I will marry you.”
Jacob can barely believe his ears. She said yes. She actually said yes. All of his nerves disappear and he feels nothing but complete happiness. He stands, slipping the ring onto her finger, he pulls her close, wrapping his arms around her waist, and holding her to him tightly, as he whispers back, his feelings completely overwhelming him and leaving him with not much else he can think of to say.
“You've made me the happiest man alive, my love.”
Katherine wraps her arms around him as he lifts her up gently, spinning her.
He holds her close, feeling like he's about to break into the brightest, biggest smile he's ever had in his life, unable to stop himself from spinning her once again. Her answer has taken away the breath from his lungs, and he cannot stop himself from bringing her face down to his, and kissing her. No holds barred, nothing holding him back as he kisses her deeply. Holding her tightly, pressing her against him, his hand coming up to the back of her head, and into her hair, as he kisses her like he's never kissed her before…
He responds, just as breathlessly, as he pulls away, resting his forehead against hers. “I love you too. More than anything.”
He's so filled with love for her at this moment, he wants to show her how much.
[Time skip]
A month and a half later, the day of their wedding. Katherine had gone dress shopping weeks earlier and picked out the perfect dress along with the veil, shoes, and flowers for the ceremony.
She had sent out wedding invitations to her family, she was hesitant at first. Her older brother Theodore and her mother, Wendy, were the only ones to accept. Her grandmother, Francine, mother to her father, Nathaniel, also accepted the invite.
In the bride's room, she was getting ready for the day. Her mother and her grandmother were there, helping her dress up. She was putting on the finishing touches. The dress and its train. The jewelry. The bouquet. Then the veil. The final touches have finally come together and she's looking at her reflection in the mirror. She takes a deep breath, and looks at her reflection again. She is ready to walk down the aisle.
“I know you wish your father were here." Francine tells Katherine as she finishes the details of her hair, "I know he's not accepting of your relationship with Jacob. Your father was always like that, even as a boy.”
Katherine sighs, letting her grandmother finish up the final details of the hair. “And he couldn't be more wrong about Jacob. Yes, he's an assassin, but he's also so loving, and kind, and he's honest. He wouldn't hurt me in any way... he has never hidden who he is from me, and I love him for everything he is.”
"Your father... he's a bloody idiot. That's what happens when you let the aristocratic life get to you.” Her grandmother tells her, she was always one to have a sharp tongue, “All you see is money and power. Your grandfather was like that until he met me. He changed his views on how he saw commoners because I was commoner before he met me… a commoner with a sharp tongue and was able to humble him easily.”
She smiles. She always loved the way her grandmother talked about her grandfather. Her grandmother was a commoner, and when she married, he put aside the aristocracy, and never looked back.
He was a better man because of it. She can't help but think that her father should take some advice from her.
"Grandfather would like Jacob... wouldn't he?”
Francine smiles, "If he saw how Jacob treats you, he would.”
She feels her heart light up with happiness. She can just imagine her grandfather standing next to her, walking her down the aisle... he would give Jacob his blessing in an instant.
He understood the kindness, the strength, the good in people's hearts, and he would give Jacob all his approval. "I wish he were here, to walk me down the aisle…”.
Wendy, her mother chimes in, "Theodore will be happy to do so.”
Katherine smiles, and lets out a soft sigh of agreement.
"I'm very glad to have him there, at least.”
She knows her grandfather William Winchester had passed 6 years prior. He would've been the one to walk her down the aisle because she knew her father wouldn't, unless she married one of his political associates or businessman acquaintances.
"We'll leave you with your thoughts, dear." Her grandmother tells her.
Her and Wendy step out and give her some time before it is time to walk down the aisle.
She looks at herself in the mirror, taking another breath. All of the people she loves the most, will be there watching this moment. Her grandmother. Her mother. Her brother. And the man she loves.
She thinks of Jacob, and how he's waiting for her. How he's going to look at her, like she's the most beautiful woman in the world.
She knows her father and 3 other brothers won't be in attendance, but she doesn't care. All she needed was her mother, Theodore, and her grandmother.
She takes another look at herself in the mirror, at the veil placed over her hair. The lace detailing on her dress, the beautiful white flowers... a knock sounds at the door, taking her from her thoughts.
“Katherine, you ready?." She hears Theodore's voice from behind the door.
She can't help but smile at hearing his voice. "Ready as I'll ever be.” She responds back.
She exits the room, a bouquet of flowers in her hand. The wedding march is playing in the main hall.
Her and Theodore stand behind the closed door leading into the hall waiting for the signal to enter.
She can hear the music, and her heart is racing, her nerves starting to rise. But she calms them, and her breathing to steady herself. She can do this. She looks at her brother, her eyes wide as she tries to still her racing thoughts. This is the biggest moment of her life. This is the moment she's going to walk through those doors, and give herself to the man she loves. The man who makes her happier than she has ever been…
Jacob is standing at the altar with the priest. Waiting for his bride to be.
His heart pounding in his chest. He's nervous. But more than anything, he is excited. He can't wait to see her walk down that aisle... her brother, walking her up it. He looks into the crowd, all the people he cares about, and he smiles, as he looks back at the doors, waiting for them to open. Waiting to see her.

Blades & Ballots - Chapter 3

Characters: Jacob Frye. Katherine Winchester (OC). Theodore Winchester (OC)
Word count: 1.6k
Warnings: does Jacob being a simp count?
Previous chapters: [Chapter 1] [Chapter 2]
Katherine looks up at him with love in her eyes. She couldn't believe she was finally free from her father's grasp.
As they embrace, another carriage pulls up with the Winchester coat of arms on it.
"Katherine!." A male voice calls out to her. The man gets out of the carriage. It's her older brother Theodore. "What happened?."
She looks back at him, "Father, disinherited me." He looks at Jacob and back to her, understanding the situation.
Jacob stiffens slightly, as the man approaches. He's protective of her now, and is not entirely inclined to have just anyone walk up to her. But he tries to be civil, since it is her elder brother.
"Why did he do that?." He asks, keeping his calm demeanor.
"Because I refused to marry his associates." She tells him. "I chose Jacob over the men he had chosen for me."
Jacob can't help the grin that spreads across his face as he hears her saying his name... and the part about her choosing him. The words make his heart beat much faster and he tightens his hold on her... this woman has decided that he is what she wants.
Theodore can see the way her and Jacob are looking at each other, the way they are holding each other and he begins to understand the situation more.
"Did you need anything?." He asks her, "Money? Any of your things back home?.”
She's a bit surprised by how easily he seems to be accepting this. Usually, the older brother would put up more of a fight, but he seems almost nonchalant about it... it's a bit odd.
“Um... yes, please. My things from my room, I suppose. My other valuables as well... some clothes.” she tells him.
He nods, "Where will you be staying?.”
Jacob steps forward, putting himself between them
“She'll be staying with me.”
Theodore looks over at him for a moment, before giving him a slight nod of approval, and turning back to her. “Send me the address, and I'll send you your things. I'll be sure father doesn't know about it.”
She smiles slightly. At least she knows some of her family will still be there for her. “Thank you, Theo.”
Jacob is still eyeing him, and his hand unconsciously slips down her back, closer to her waist, his fingers gently holding onto her.
He gets back into the carriage and drives off.
Katherine leans into him, sighing softly. It was such a chaotic night, so many things had happened, and now... here she is, in the arms of a man she just met a few hours ago, but she has never felt so absolutely sure about anything in her life. She feels safe, and happy, despite the fact that she just gave up everything she had ever known.
It starts to get dark and cold. He takes her back to his place
He leads her into his apartment, keeping her close the entire time. He still hasn't been able to stop smiling, and he hasn't stopped touching her either. He is completely enraptured by her. The beautiful, innocent, strong-willed amazing woman who is now his. He is in complete awe of that fact. When he shuts the door, he leans back against it, and gently pulls her closer, wrapping his arms around her, and leaning his face against her hair
She feels safe in his arms, wrapping her arms around his neck.
Closing her eyes, feeling safe and content in his embrace.
He can't get enough of her. The feeling of her in his arms is too perfect. He gently runs his hand up to the nape of her neck and buries his face in her hair, breathing in the scent of her. The feeling of her body against his is driving him crazy, but he wants to be respectful with her. He doesn't want to overstep or do anything to make her uncomfortable... but he's never wanted anything more in his entire life than to kiss her.
[Time skip]
It's been 3 months since Katherine left the life of aristocracy and settled down with Jacob.
The two of them are more in love than ever, both completely devoted to the other. They've fallen into a comfortable routine, although Jacob's fellow Rooks keep on pressuring him to "tie the knot" with her, and he is beginning to consider this option very seriously
He actually got a ring. He had it a week after they got together. Pocketed it from some Blighter.
His days have pretty much been the same, training his recruits, destroying Templar bases, with the occasional drink at the pub, although not as much as he used to. His mind is filled with thoughts of her, and the ring that's in his jacket pocket, and every fiber of his being wants to ask her to be his wife... he is just looking for a good moment to ask her.
While he works recruiting new assassins. Katherine writes her short stories, usual romance, dark romance, and sometimes horror. Writing her stories in her books while drinking a cup of tea.
He always loved reading her short stories, his favorite obviously being the romance ones. He would tease her about the obvious parallels between the hero and himself, and how he was the inspiration for her favorite character... because she would always have to correct and deny those things. He loves the way her cheeks turn red when she gets embarrassed by his comments, and the way her eyes try to dart away from his gaze when he catches her looking.
She even wrote a story similar to how her and Jacob met and how her father didn't approve of their relationship.
Changing some of the characters' names and details.
When he read her story and noticed the parallels with their meeting, he smiled, flattered by the fact that he became her inspiration. Of course, that story was his favorite. He knew the man in her story was him, and knowing that she wrote a love story about them made him feel quite a sense of... pride. He still remembers the day he told her this. The way her cheeks turned red, and her gaze darted away, but she couldn't hide the smile on her face…
She can't help but laugh and cover her face in embarrassment when he read her short story.
He smiles, watching her cover her face. He thinks it's adorable how she can write about their love story, including the more intimate moments, but when he mentions it, she blushes and hides her flushed cheeks. He gently grabs her wrist, pulling her hand away from her face, and he smiles warmly at her
“Don't you hide that beautiful face from me... you wrote a story about us, darling.” He teases her.
She can't help but blush, "It has.. similarities.”
He grins, he loves her denial, its adorable
“Similarities" he quotes “Darling, I know its us. You're not exactly subtle.”
“Okay, maybe I took some events that involved us and recreated it with new characters.”
He grins, amused by her admittance, “So you took our story, and wrote it down, adding "new characters and situations?”
Katherine laughs, "Yes, that's exactly what I did.”
His smile doesn't leave his face, he's loving this. “And what did your "new characters" do then? Did they kiss in the story?.”
She leans close to him, "Yes, they did.”
His heart starts to race as she leans in close. She's so close, her face is so near, her lips are right in front of his. He wants to kiss her badly, but he can't, not right now. He has to control himself.
He swallows hard, trying to control himself. “Did they do anything else... more intimate?.”
She chuckles, "Maybe. They might've." She teases, her head resting on his shoulder.
He groans, running his fingers through his hair. He's desperate to kiss her now, and he's trying so hard to stop himself from it. She's right in front of him, she's close, she's teasing him, and he needs to control himself.
His voice is deeper than usual “Darling, you're not playing fair.”
She sees his desperation to kiss her. She leans closer to him, she looks at his lips, and then back to him. She leans in and kisses him.
It took all of his restraint to not kiss a second earlier. As soon as her lips connect with his, he breaks. He wraps his arms around her waist, pulling her against him, trying to get her as close as possible. His head spins as he moves his lips against hers, he feels like he could drown in her.
[Time skip]
A week had passed, Jacob stared at the ring he had gotten for Katherine. He plans on proposing to her. He wants the moment to be special.
He can't get it out of his mind. He knows it's time. He loves her so much, he wants to marry her, he wants to be with her for the rest of his life, he wants to watch her smile, and hear her laugh, and see her in a white dress, and see her with his ring on her finger and the last name Frye on her papers. He can't stop picturing it, and he wants to make it a reality.
He decides that today was the day. He was going to propose to her.
His heart is constantly racing. He feels like he's walking on air. He can't wait, and he's doing everything in his power to try not to seem too obvious or eager, as he waits for her to get ready.

Blades & Ballots - Chapter 1

New series that I've been working on
Characters: Jacob Frye. Katherine Winchester (OC). Evie Frye (mentioned). Henry Green (mentioned). Crawford Starrick (mentioned). Queen Victoria (mentioned)
Word count: 1.5k+ (i have no idea)
Warnings: None
Evie and Jacob eventually went to go do their own thing. After defeating Crawford Starrick. He remained in London training new assassins while she married Henry Green and traveled to India.
She, with her husband and daughter, lived in India for many years, but stilled wanted to continue her assassin work, so she joined the Indian Brotherhood there. Her daughter became her apprentice. Jacob continued to stay in London to keep training the new order and stayed as a bachelor for some time, though he did have a few affairs here and there.
The Fryes were remembered and continued to do amazing things and were greatly respected and honored.
Somewhere between 1868 and 1869, Jacob meets a woman. The daughter of an aristocrat and politician, who was an acquaintance of Crawford Starrick.
At a ball, located at Buckingham Palace, where he was invited to by Queen Victoria as a member of the Order of the Sacred Garter, Jacob sees a woman across the ballroom. He is instantly drawn to her. He is compelled to go to her. He is not the only one interested in her. Multiple men are trying to get her attention, but she seems very uninterested in them.
He gets a clear view of the woman wearing a long blue dress with a gold trim. Long black hair and hazel green eyes.
There is something about her that draws him to her. He can't stop himself. He needs to talk to this woman. Be near her. He walks over to her, walking through the crowd of guests.
She stands away from everyone else. She glances over at Jacob as he approaches her, giving him a smile before looking away.
That little smile he was graced with gives Jacob the courage to talk to this woman. He hesitantly breaks the ice, "I’m sorry, but I could help but notice you from across the room... you're not very interested in the men trying to woo you."
She looks over at him, "Most of these men are friends of my father. They're old enough to be my father. I'm not interested in being married to someone just so he can have political gain."
He is interested in her lack of interest in those men. In her desire to avoid being married off. He is strangely and suddenly drawn more to her. He can’t deny the connection he feels to this stranger. "No? Well, what would you be interested in then?."
"Someone closer to my age and will love me for me and not my family name. Doesn't care for my wealth." She tells him.
For a moment, he lets himself dream of being that someone... being everything she wants... but he tells himself to come back to reality. "That seems fairly simple. I’m sure you have many suitors who check off those boxes."
She sighs, "I haven't seen any yet. Most of these people are friends of my parents."
His interest is piqued again at her confession. She hasn't seen anyone who checks off the boxes... perhaps...
"Have you spent much time looking?." He asks, curiosity in his voice.
"I have. Most men my age are so immature, and spend their time drunk and with whores." She tells him, "Older men repulse me."
His interest in her continues to grow. He is intrigued by this woman, and he can't help it. "It sounds like you have very specific taste."
"I do. I want to be with someone who will love me and be around when we have children." She tells him, "Not some old man politician who can barely get it up and will die within a few years of marriage."
His heart beats a little faster at her words. She's very specific. She wants a man who will love her and be a good father. What else could this feeling be? His interest in her becomes more than curiosity. His gaze does not leave her.
"And how many are your suitors fit those requirements?."
She takes a moment, "So far... no one."
Jacob pauses and considers his next words. He can't believe what he's about to offer... he is stunned by his desire to be the one she wants. And she is just his type... not only is she utterly gorgeous, but she has such a strong sense of who she is and isn't interested in the wrong people... she wants a young man who wants to marry her and have a family with her.
He looks over at her, "Well, perhaps I could fit those requirements."
She looks over at Jacob and gives him a smile. "I didn't catch your name."
Her smile makes his heart skip a beat. He feels his face get warm, and he forgets that he never actually introduced himself to this woman. He quickly collects himself and gives her a charming smile of his own before holding out his hand.
"My apologies, my name is Jacob Frye... It is a pleasure. And you are...?."
"Katherine Winchester." She introduces herself.
He takes her hand and gives them a gentle kiss. "Katherine Winchester... what a beautiful name for a beautiful woman."
She smiles at his gesture. "You're very charming, Mr Frye."
He can't help but smile at her response. He knows he is charming, but her words make him want to be charming to her all night long.
"Please, there's no need for formality. Call me Jacob... and may I ask, how old are you?."
"19." She answers.
There's a moment of realization from Jacob. He is a few years older than her, but she still seems... perfect. In every way, she is exactly what he would want.
The way her voice sounds as she speaks. The way she stands. The way she looks in her dress... she is stunning, and everything about her, everything he looks for in a woman.
"You're still young... and very attractive." He tells her, "I don't understand how other more suitable suitors haven't made more of an effort to be with you."
Katherine smiles, "Most men are afraid of strong minded women, and some men don't like a lady who is... pure. Innocent. Inexperienced."
His mind is filled with very impure thoughts. She is quite innocent and inexperienced... but he can't help but be intrigued. He wants her for himself.
He scoffs, "What a ridiculous notion... there is something much more intriguing about a woman who is pure and innocent."
She chuckles softly, "You'd be surprised how most men don't want to wait until marriage to be intimate."
He can't help but smirk. He finds her innocence and inexperience very... attractive. "I suppose I can see how some men don't want to wait... a woman as fine as you deserve a man who will cherish her properly."
Katherine smiles at his words. "Sounds like you're trying charm me, Jacob."
He can not deny it. He is trying to charm her. He leans in closer. "And if I am? Would you not want to be charmed by me, Katherine?."
"I didn't say I didn't like it. You're the first to charm me and not take me to a backroom." She teases.
He grins. This woman is certainly something he thinks to himself. "Oh my... so I'm the first to not treat you as an object but an actual woman?."
She smiles, "That you are."
He keeps grinning. The only thought in his mind being, "Please let her be interested in me."
"I can assure you, I have no intention of treating you as anything other than a woman. A very wonderful, strong, and beautiful woman."
The music starts to play up again, "Well then, I'm sure you wouldn't mind we dance... Mr. Frye." She teases, taking his hand in hers.
He accepts her hand willingly and eagerly, with a charming smile. He chuckles, "I thought you'd never ask."
He takes her to the dance floor and places his other hand on her waist, holding her close against him.
They join the group of other patrons on the floor. Most of them older couples.
Now, facing each other, Jacob now has a full view of Katherine. Seeing every detail of her.
He gazes upon her. Her stunning face. Her gorgeous eyes. The way she holds her head up proudly. The way her dress fits her figure is just right. She is absolutely beautiful. He looks into her eyes as they dance across the dance floor.
She feels her cheeks burn red as he looks at her, "Now don't look at me like that." She chuckles, hiding her face in his shoulder.
Jacob laughs softly, feeling his heart skip at her shyness. He is even more attracted to her. "And how exactly am I looking at you, my dear?."
"Like you want to kiss me." She teases, "Like I'm the most beautiful thing you've ever seen." She tells him, feeling her face heat up.
He smirks, wanting to kiss her very badly. He tightens his grip on her waist just a little, pulling her a little closer.
"That is because my dear, you are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen." He tells her in a matter of fact tone, "I could look into your eyes all night if you'd let me."
She laughs, "You're too charming, you know that?."
He grins and spins her around before bringing her back close to him.
"Some have called me charming before... but honestly, I can't help myself with you. You bring something out in me. You make me want to be more charming... more... everything."
Katherine wraps her arms around his neck. "Really?."
He gives her that charming smile of his as his hands wander to her hips, pulling her closer as he gently moves with the music. He looks into her eyes, completely entranced by her
"Yes... I've never felt like this before, not in all my life." He tells her, his hesrt skipping a beat, "You are different... you make me want to be more than just.... me."
She leans closer, her head resting against his forehead, then on his shoulder. "Every man in the room is staring at you." She whispers in his ear.
He moves one hand up to rest on her waist, while the other hand finds its way to the back of her head, gently holding her close. He takes a deep breath, taking in the scent and feeling of her closeness, before he speaks softly into her ear.
Jacob smirks, "Let them look. Because the only one I'm interested in is you, and you have my attention, all to yourself."
She moves to face him again. His hand is still on the back of her head. She looks at his lips, then back to him before leaning in.
He feels her breath on his cheek. He feels the heat coming from her. He feels how close her lips are, waiting to be kissed and to taste them. This woman, this gorgeous woman, has him completely mesmerized and under her control.
She looks at his lips once more before she leans in closer, their lips connecting. From across the room, Katherine's father, Nathaniel, sees the two dancing and kissing. He doesn't recognize the man she's dancing with, nor is he one of the suitors he picked out for her.

Blades & Ballots - Chapter 2

Characters: Jacob Frye. Katherine Winchester (OC). Nathaniel Winchester (OC)
Word count: 1.5k+
Warnings: Some violence. Asshole father. Jacob needing Katherine as if she's his life source.
Previous chapter:
Katherine feels intoxicated in his arms. Their bodies are close together, dancing to the music, and their kiss makes her feel like she's under some sort of spell. Jacob can't believe this is happening. He has the woman he's quickly becoming obsessed with in his arms, her lips on his, her body pressed against him... He can not remember a moment in his life that he's ever felt so content, or... complete.
Meanwhile, Nathaniel, seeing his daughter in the arms of a strange man, immediately storms over, furious.
"Katherine!." He calls out to her, interrupting their moment.
She is quick to pull away from him and looks over at her father, startled. "Father?."
Jacob, confused by the interruption, looks over at Nathaniel, curious as to why he disrupted such an intimate moment.
"Who is he?." Her father asks, his voice authoritative.
Before she could answer him, Jacob answers for her. He has regained his composure, still standing close to her and looking at her father. "I'm Jacob Frye, sir."
The older man looks him over, looking a bit disapproving.
"And how exactly do you know my daughter?." He orders.
Katherine tries to intervene, "Father,-."
She is interrupting by him, "He is not of our status. He is not any of the suitors I picked out for you." He turns back to Jacob, "How do you know my daughter?."
He can tell that Nathaniel is one of "those" men. He looks annoyed again, seeing how he is treating his daughter like an object and not a real person. A wave of irritation washes over him. "I met your daughter only this evening, sir. We began to speak and discovered that we both enjoy the same things and share the same values and-."
He is interrupted by Nathaniel again. "And what kind of values do you share with her exactly?."
She begins to get annoyed at her father overreaction.
"Father, please, he meant no harm." She tries to reassure him, "We were just dancing."
Jacob can't keep quiet anymore. He can't stand the way he's treating her. He's trying to have her marry someone who could just be the worst kind of person, simply for politics... and she has no say in it...
"And there is nothing wrong with two people just dancing, sir. Your daughter is simply enjoying herself."
Katherine, come." He says before leaving.
She reluctantly follows him. "I'm sorry." She says to Jacob before leaving.
He feels disappointed that her father is taking her away from him. He can't help it. There is something about her that he can't describe... something that he doesn't want to walk away from.
"Wait." He's able to stop her before she left. He is relieved that he was able to stop her. "Please... don't go." He begs.
"I don't want to, but..." She looks towards her family's carriage waiting out front. "I have no say in this."
His irritation at the situation is replaced by sympathy. This innocent, sweet, perfect young woman is going to be forced into a marriage that she doesn't want, just because her father is more interested in how much money the man has, and how much power he might want.
"This isn't right... you should have a choice about what you want to do with your life." He tells her.
Katherine tries to hold back tears, "I've tried to change his mind, but... he's a very stubborn man."
For once, she felt a connection with someone who truly understands her, just for it to be ripped away by her conservative father.
It pained him to see her like this. This isn't right. She has no freedom... no choice in the matter... he wants desperately to protect her.
"Can't you refuse his wishes? Defy him and marry for love?."
"It's... its not that easy. I wish it were." She tells him.
He can see that she truly does want to be free. "Then... let me help you." He gently grabs her hand. "I will not allow him to force you into a marriage you don't want just for the sake of money and power."
"Katherine!." Nathaniel calls out, and he storms back into the building.
He shoves Jacob back, only for him to shove him back. Guards get involved, separated the two men.
He's getting more and more worked up. He wants to keep her for himself. He is not going to allow this man to take her from him. It's not just a matter of attraction. There is something more here.
"I'm not going to let you take her away from me!." Jacob shouts at him.
"You don't even know her!." Nathaniel shouts back at him.
Katherine is torn, wanting her freedom from her father's grasp and be with Jacob, and wanting to keep her inheritance and not be disowned by her family.
She tries to calm down her father, but he shoves her against a wall out of anger. Causing a gasp from nearby party goers.
Seeing this man treat her in such a way makes Jacob see red. The fact that he would shove her, his own daughter, is appalling... he is ready to fight to protect this woman.
"You bastard! Don't you put your hands on her!." He breaks from the guards' grasp. He is locked on to her father.
The other guards grab on to him, trying to restrain him.
"I'll do as I please with my daughter! She is my property!." Nathaniel snaps.
His anger is becoming uncontainable. The thought of this girl being property, this girl being under anyone's control, makes his blood boil.
The guards help Katherine up and take her to the carriage.
Jacob is fighting the guards, trying desperately to stop this. He is not about to let this happen. She deserves better than whatever her father has planned for her.
"No! Let her go!." He shouts. He breaks from the guards and runs outside towards the carriages. He chases after the one that has Katherine and her father.
After running and dodging other carriages, he manages to catch up to Katherine. He has to stop this... he has to do something.
"Wait! Let me talk to her!." His voice staggered from running. He manages to jump onto the moving carriage.
Nathaniel is furious, "Get off at once!."
Jacob doesn't care. He wants to talk to Katherine, "I just want to talk to her!."
"Stop the carriage!." She shouts to the driver.
The driver obeys her request, and the carriage comes to a halt. She immediately gets out of it, and runs into Jacob's arms.
Nathaniel steps out, and is beyong annoyed and furious, "You don't know when to stop, do you?."
He holds her protectively, his arm around her waist, keeping her close. He gives Nathaniel a defiant look.
"I don't give up on something I want. And I want her."
Her father rolls his eyes, "You don't know anything about her."
Jacob is becoming increasingly enraged, but he tries to keep calm for her sake. "And whose fault is that? Her father keeping her locked away like some caged animal? He doesn't let her live her life for herself. Her life isn't her own."
Nathaniel has already lost his patience. There simply can't be more for him to lose, "I don't need some low status commoner. Tell me how to raise my daughter. Money is power, and power comes from connections."
Jacob is completely furious. He's seen this happen many times before. The rich think they are above everyone else just because they have money. And they always think that money can control everything.
"You're willing to let your own daughter be unhappy just because you want power? You're more concerned with your own reputation than your daughter's happiness?."
Nathaniel's jaw clenches, "You will never understand what I-.". He is interrupted by Katherine.
"I don't want to be a pawn in your political gain. I don't want to marry someone old man who will never understand me. I don't want this." She tries to hold back her emotions, "I love Jacob, I want to be with him."
He takes a step forward, "Katherine, you go with him. You will be disinherited and disowned by the entire Winchester family."
Jacob's heart leaps. She wants him... she has chosen him, over the life she has always known and her family's money... she has chosen a life with him. He has never heard anything so wonderful in his entire life.
Her father, however, is furious.
"Then she should do what makes her happy... and if it means losing this power and money of yours, then so be it."
Nathaniel, without saying anything, word he gets back into the carriage and drives off. Leaving Katherine and Jacob.
He stares after the carriage, barely able to believe that everything that had just happened... he can't help but beam, and he hugs her tightly, with a huge grin on his face.
"My god.. you chose me." He says softly.
She felt a sense of relief. Finally, being free from her father's control, his grasp of her life, on her future, even if it cost her, her inheritance.
He's still astonished that she would choose him over that... but he's also so very thankful. She chose him over her father, over all the money in the world, over the only life she had ever known, even if it meant that this man would disown her, cast her aside, and lose her inheritance.
She takes a deep breath, trying to calm herself after all that drama.
She knows she's making a mistake, but she doesn't care. She doesn't want to marry for power. She wants to marry for love.
His heart aches knowing what she's done for him. He feels guilty. But he can't deny how overjoyed he is that she would make such an enormous sacrifice to be with him.
"Just out of curiosity, if I proposed to you right now... would you say yes?."
Katherine feels her heart race, "Yes, yes I would."
Jacob's heart skips a beat. He has another huge grin on his face... he can't believe this is happening. This gorgeous woman has just chosen to give everything up to be with him to be with him. He would do anything for her. He would give her anything.
