This Day in History: Jefferson on Federalism
On this day in 1816, Thomas Jefferson writes a letter. He speaks of the need to keep power separated between the national and state governments. Dividing power in this manner, Jefferson notes, protects liberty.
Hmm.  We increasingly pretend that our Constitution does not demand such a separation of powers. We pretend that one-size-fits-all solutions can be created for the whole country. Perhaps the current state of things is unsurprising?
Jefferson’s full quote is here:
“[T]he way to have good and safe government, is not to trust it all to one, but to divide it among the many, distributing to every one exactly the functions he is competent to. Let the national government be entrusted with the defence of the nation, and its foreign and federal relations; the State governments with the civil rights, laws, police . . . . What has destroyed liberty and the rights of man in every government which has ever existed under the sun? The generalizing and concentrating all cares and power into one body, no matter whether of the autocrats of Russia or France, or of the aristocrats of a Venetian senate.”

They are addicts, overall. Money and influence is their junk”.
At least Trump already had both and didn’t need them like the other guy.

Dave is the real deal. Way to be “the hands and feet of Christ”, even if he isn’t a Christian (I gotta check on that, cause maybe he is). Lesson for all of us here…

I never thought I’d say it, but at LEAST the hippies were about LOVE, overall. The cynicism and hatred of our Western Judeo-Christian values today is far worse and more palatable to many. We need Jesus. Please pray.
The Baby Boomer college student who militantly rejected classical Western ideals and principles during the 1960's did at least have the opportunity to receive a classical education so that he could neutrally encounter what he eventually decided to reject. That same group has offered no such opportunity to their own children. The modern college student is not given the chance to authentically encounter the Western ideal. The version of the West to which he is first introduced is a caricature; it is a scathing editorial about the West written by parties who despise it. And so many of these young people are cut off from the best of what history and human accomplishment has to offer. In its place they are given hollow, cynical speculations invented five minutes ago, which have never been used to build a single civilization, but which are working quite efficiently to tear one down.

Yes and yes. Christianity, in my experience, is a place frought with snobbery and finger pointing comparison. As if to say, “I’m a sinner saved by grace but I’m not like HIM/ HER!”
It’s not a Country Club, folks. And fear and judgement are fuel for Satans plans to rip us apart. He loves that stuff…
My thoughts about Kat Von D
I had no idea who she was up until all the news came out about her recent baptism. I went to her FB and Instagram account to "get to know her". Needless to say that I did not like either her lifestyle nor her music. And I do see that these two stay the same even after her conversion which I find quite worrying.
HOWEVER
I am sick and tired of the judgemental Christians out there. Dozens of times the effects of being born again take years to actually appear. And even if they do, you can still be a "not Christian enough" for many self-righteous Christians and churches. Personally, unlike Kat Von D, I'm not doing spooky sensual music with vampires, I'm not covered in tattoos, I don't have a controversial lifestyle, I'm not dressed like a witch all the time. Unlike Kat Von D, I am "normal". But GUESS WHAT! I'm still an abomination for dozens of Christians just because I don't "fit in" their church's lifestyle!!! 😱
My point is: Yes her situation is quite worrying. But if you spend more time judging her instead of praying for her, you are part of the problem. You forget that the enemy hates seeing people approaching God so he does his best to stop this. You forget that we are in a continuous spiritual warfare. And you also forget that people coming out from witchcraft (like Kat Von D) need extra care, prayers and warfare. I myself was tempted to get into witchcraft before I became a Christian and I did made my first steps into it. Even today, although in an extremely weak form, the temptation is still here. I do fight it but this doesn't mean it's not here. So, if I am tempted, imagine what happens with people who were completely into witchcraft for their whole life!!
JUDGE LESS, PRAY MORE. And, maybe, study the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector. It may say things about yourself.
