Horror Novel Prologue

Free prologue to my upcoming experimental horror novel Gataru. I'll be releasing it serially on Substack. The prologue and first chapter will be free.

Whereas so much of what I do is cosmic horror, this is my homage to movies like The Ring, It Follows, and Smile.

This is an in-process novel, so there may be typos, errors, and inconsistencies that will all be smoothed out when I do future drafts.

Wrought of Amber Season Two Episode One

does the first season of WoA explain why Aunt Linda immediately starts screaming upon seeing the carved bit of amber on Emily's bed?

I remember that in S1, Alex says she "came out screaming", and in this episode Alex mentions that it frightened her and conjured up some really unpleasant images in her as a child

(ngl, that description of her as a child picturing a crumpled wooden doll or seeing Emily's face in the stone after she'd been crushed down into it actually made my stomach flip. horrible imagery, fantastic writing and delivery)

So did Linda see something messed up in the stone, or, given what Alex's dad's notes seem to hint about his culpability in Emily's disappearance, did the stone itself have some meaning that Linda was privy to?
