Beyond legends and farther

Fanfic prompt :

Link has always known his name

He was the hero who saves princesses from evil

He is the one who travels through the kingdoms and serves hylia

It has always been this way for as far as he can remember and he can remember a lot

He knows that when ganon’s comes back he needs to protect Zelda

He is the one who travels and since he remembers has always been this way

But sometimes he feels that some things he doesn’t know the way he should

Like something is too far to reach his memory is odd

When is the point were memory loses the meaning behind it

When will a person gaze upon a picture and not know how they’ve felt during it or if it even was them

Looking at everyone’s fading faces one could perhaps assume they were happy or distraught or even content but one might not even recognize themself in it all the same

But the most heartbreaking part ,…

Memory fades with time

One will try to remember tragedy,…

One will try to remember happiness, …

Try to reconstruct it but the emotions behind it fall into forgetfulness

With time it fades and you remember nothing

Time makes you numb

Just how numb can you get until it simply makes everything fade

When do the people you once would have given your life for become strangers ?

When do you become a stranger just how much can you live on until you are an entirely different person

Until all your core memories change and you become someone else

Which one will fade first and more importantly will you be able to tell you lost everything that you knew

Link ponders this questions often yet watching all the people surrounding him again

He feels as if he forgot everything yet unfortunately hylia like always is not quite as kind

He knows about every single person around him

But he doesn’t KNOW why ?

What importance do they have

He looks at them and he sees only strangers and yet he knows everyone there.

So why does the chain feel like it’s the first time he met them

When the hero beyond legend has seen them through until the end of this journey

Link felt nothing for them regardless

Or wouldn’t it be horrible if the neat feature of cadence of Hyrule that lets you come back from the death was permanent and legend lived so ridiculously long that he literally ended up forgetting who he was

And it’s not like he would really have someone to remember if everyone he knew dies as well

With centuries he literally has nothing

His every item and every thing breaking and being replaced over and over until he forgets about the old ones

His home falling to ruin a decaying abandoned building because he traveled so long that for all the time that he was gone his orchard became a forest and hyrule became a different one

The princess became a different one again and again

And the hero eventually became a different one as well but not replaced just forgotten by everyone…even himself

beyond is now silly and unable to recognize that the hero of legends was him and that he had already been with the chain so long ago

And like everything he will forget this second attempt as well as he forgot the first one

Honestly it might as well be both being different entities considering how both are in different timelines

Even if at the base they were the same their very existence diverges enough that they would be different regardless

And honestly you are so right for that wind is the bad influence

Linebeck was just a rather shady guy looking for treasure

but then wind dropped and started using his boot and trying to collect a god's essence of being

suddenly his boot gets attacked regularly, his kid is driving into every single island imaginable to sink his ship (because early linebeck deserves to sink and everyone has done it at least once)

and he gets possessed by a life sucking parasite and said kid tries to go beat him up and suddenly everyone he ever knew turns out to not exist and at least now he is free

If this ain’t a bad influence then I don’t even know what

So wouldn’t it be messed up if the ocean king never was woken up and the realm it was dreaming kept on going

So when in phantom hourglass wind is chilling with the dreaming whale god he really is just hanging out with descendants of koholint and that is the reason why everything is different

Even more messed up is bellum being a literal parasite but you know how the wind fish had nightmares that kept destroying everything and making it dangerous

What if bellum actually is a stronger version of this as in the nightmares literally got to a point of draining the wind fish's life force as it literally killed people (like you can’t tell me the turned to stone people are not dead)

And only when wind starts running around with linebeck to free tetra does everything get better

Yet linebeck who should be a dream construct somehow ends up in the waking world

What if Linebeck was a descendant of Marin in this timeline and the ocean king somehow subconsciously knew that at some point in another time someone named link as well begged him to let their loved one go

Having dreamed so long the ocean king might have had the feeling that something wasn’t adding up

And the ocean king couldn’t refuse the new born hero spirit

After everything he was awake at least

And then legend gets involved with this mess because what does it mean when wind told him that he met some random dreaming whale and also then some guy who he liked left the dream despite being one

Just for legend’s sake wind kind finds linebeck and tells him to go tell him how he got out and stuff just slips when legend sees a portrait of a certain someone

I was thinking of the dialouge and general story. Heres an option i had so far :)

(MIGHT BE OOC!!)———————————————————————(POV: Warriors (Captain Link))

The war was in full force, the sounds of metal clashing together, sounds of hits, and the smell of smoke and blood. It was gruesome, to say the least. This scene of a desperate war. Lana had been making portals to get some... help, she says.

By that, she means summoning innocent people and heroes from across time. Not really ideal since one of said heroes was a 10 year old CHILD, and insists he is 17 mentally.

But never did Link expect he would be glad that Mask was as messed up as he is.

Cause he would rather him be like this, instead of him be like... whatever the new girl was.

When she fell out of the portal, she was absolutely panicked and bruised. Wary of anything and everything, and seemed to be searching for something.. or someone. Eventually, with the help of Zelda and Impa, Link had managed to get her to calm down enough to speak to them.

"What is your name?" Link inquired

"Tetra. Tetra's my name." The girl, now known as Tetra, replied. "Have you seen a boy with green clothes and black, yellow-redish eyes with black tentacles?"

...yet again, Link felt somewhat glad that this wasnt something Mask has experienced and talked rather vaguely about. "N-" Link was gonna reply no, but he was cut off by the sound of Lana's voice.

"You mean like that?" She yelled, looking at another portal. Tetra turned on her heel to look at it too, freezing right after. There he was, a boy just like what Tetra described, standing there. He was closer to the where the enemies were.

"Yes, like that." Tetra answered, after a while of staring at the boy. "Link, you idiot.." the girl mumbled to herself.

Link felt personally offended, but then realized. If this was anything like how the meeting with Mask went, then that boy is another Link. Link turned to look at Lana. "Did you make that portal too-?"

"Yes." Lana answered whilst nodding. "From my research, it was supposed to summon the 'Link' and 'Zelda' from the era of the great sea." She said, looking at where the other Link was with a contemplating look. "Though it might be another mistake on my part, like how i summoned the merchant and the island girl."

Tetra paused, then turned again to look at Lana. "It wasnt a mistake. Im Zelda. Even though i usually dont go by that name..."

"Then whats the matter with.. your uhm, Link over there?" Zelda asked, looking the other Link up and down, as if trying to figure out his abilities. She was paying ALOT of attention on the weapon in his hand, too. Same with Impa. Link was getting curious and wanted to take its appearence in too, but decided to pay more attention to the conversation

"He's- he's fuckin' possessed!" Tetra stated bluntly. "Some stupid, power hungry sea monster is using him as some sort of personal puppet!" Tetra added on as she started to look increasingly frustrated.

"Hmm... yeah, that sounds familiar." Mask suddenly spoke up. Oh for goddesses sake! When Link thought his vague comments would FINALLY stop for once! "You've experienced somethin' similar?" Tetra asked, bewildered.

"Mhm. you got some special weapon or ability you need to use to help him?" Mask asked as if it was the most normal thing ever.———————————————————————WIP ENDS HERE!!

A thing I find interesting is the fact that the mortal with the blood of the goddess can be sacrificed to bring back demise at some strength

Like not even needing death just their blood

As in skyward sword Zelda was not successfully sacrificed so demise's revival was half assed but functional when ghirahim failed to do it fully

The curse specifically is a free respawn for demise as long as both a mortal with the blood of the goddess and the hero's spirit exist

In addition in adventure of link ganon needs the hero's demise to return so it probably can be possible that any hero would suffice as it would fit in with the curse specifically mentioning the hero spirit

The sheer terror Hyrule would feel when he realizes that everyone in the chain is a decent sacrifice

His hyrule is DOOMED no way nobody be dying in it

Both revivals hinge at a different bearer of the triforce

So imagine how personal it would be to choose the hero of legends

Because if we go with the legend and fable being siblings headcanon

That out of all heroes legend is probably the best option for a revival

Because he gotta be more annoying than hylia

Like demise said her name with such disdain but she hasn’t ruined his life

OVER 4 TIMES IN A ROW

In link to the past he collected the LED light maidens , triforce and then beat up ganon

In the oracle games he hindered the lightening of the flame of despair and destruction (who were essentially just a revival ritual but less effective because the oracles were not sacrificed)

And the final adventure for the oracle games (if you sync them up you get a free extra game ) link prevents the sacrifice of Zelda so ganon's moms sacrifice themselves to light the flame of sorrow but because the ritual was hindered three times in a row ganon came back as a feral beast

But ganon kinda seizes the full triforce in the process and link straight up fights ganon without the triforce and kills him somehow despite that

Like that isn’t even the worst part

Later in link between worlds ganon gets revived again and fused with Yuga this time around

Still feral though but a bit more civilized this time through yuga

And after an intense battle of tennis you literally just throw a literal painting of an arrow at him and that poor pig dies AGAIN

Like twice is a coincidence

But three times in a row is a pattern lol

Even worse this nightmare continues on for ganon when in cadence of Hyrule cadence spawns in after Octavio knocked everyone to sleep and then she and link start dancing to defeat Octavio

Ganon betrays his loyal henchman who brought him back to life again

Then gets jammed to death by the same dude via some rhythmic moves (the dance moves give you extra special abilities ) AGAIN and that cockroach attained immortality during the time

Like that has to be utterly embarrassing

Four times in a row is called a sign from the goddess to not engage

I would be surprised if he still hates hylia more than legend for the stuff he pulled on the poor man

But that got me thinking legend essentially is her reincarnation with the hero spirit add on

Putting all her expenses into one dude to make him a nightmare initially would be risky but it definitely paid off

But if legend gets sacrificed then ganon would be the least of Hyrule’s problems (because out of everyone ganon in that timeline must have a GRUDGE like no other ganon before , it’s fucking personal)

Fucking demise would be back with full power because legend is a fancy way of saying linda successfully fused into existence

so both the hero spirit and the reincarnation of the goddess get sacrificed at once

So demise definitely can still curse out hylia for that one (now with actual fingers to hold up at sky and legend)

Sky was terrified that day

Only for legend to crawl back from death and start being a problem again (the fates be being nice and respawning him)

Let's just hope he learned his lesson and won’t engage with the hero who dunked on him four times in a row and hindered him 7 times

Like this ^ before meeting him bc the legends were always saying stuff like “The hero of Legend could lift BOULDERS with his bare hands!!! He could run faster than an arrow 😤”

and poor Rulie always felt like such a fraud bc he was using power cuff and rings to aide himself

when he finally meets Legend and finds out he’s a slight malnourished twink that’s also been using magic items to aide himself he’s so happy and relieved.

there’s also something so special about being able to see yourself in your hero and finding out they’re not some perfect alpha chad but a genuine person who wasn’t ready to fight but had to blah blah blah

Anyone wanna see a Dark Link/Shadow Legend

Well you get to see him anyways :)

From an AU idea I had where the Shadow is a future dark version of Legend trying to prevent the events that cause Hyrule's well hyrule going magic nuclear fallout. Via taking control of monsters (black blood)to fight other monsters to solve the problem. This does not work. Also Fable is Aurora in this au and Legend is the prince from the legend surrounding the whole sleeping princess debacle. The legend of course has been warped a bit by the time Hyrule hears about it and has somehow split from the stories about the Hero of legend. Making The Prince from the legend seem like an entirely different person. And Shadow Legend is the shadow Hyrule fights before obtaining the triforce of courage. Looking the same bc Legend got summoned through Hyrule's shadow. Anyways it's a whole weird time paradox situation and shadow Legend Is mentally screaming the whole time while also being in very deep denial and unaware he is in fact THE Shadow until he ends up Injuring Twilight in the Sunset arc(?) i think. Ends up connecting the dots then. Think mistaken identity except It's Shadow legend mistaking his own identity. very angsty I think. And in the drawing i did Legend is in fact holding a Corrupted-damaged fire rod. Also wearing fable's crown. I thought of all this listening to Fallen Kingdom. And Outrunning Karma but that was kind of after the fact.
