“It was kinda fun to bring them [Filmmakers] into my world. Just seeing how serious they took their craft. They had enough respect for me to listen to what it was that I wanted to do and they had enough expertise to filter out all the stuff they knew I was saying that wasn't going to work.”

We really thought video was the right way to tell the story of what it's like to be a customer interested in buying property. What it feels like to think about the house, neighborhoods and where you're going to live. What it's like to interact with at the agent or the brand/brokerage. All the way to the end where you're actually there and the satisfaction of doing it successfully.

“We've shown [our video] to a lot of clients. Past clients and future clients are all people you want to share it with. It's not just strategic for the property, it's strategic for your real estate business. It's a way to differentiate yourself. It's a way to show that you get what's happening in terms of the future of marketing and selling a home.”

“I really encourage people to embrace video. Being in this business my entire life we have constantly had little things nipping at us and a little bit less relevancy for the realtor. I think video will give agents an opportunity to become the center of the transaction. Not only just the transaction, but before. They can have a voice before because let's face it, it is our industry which has the local knowledge base about what goes on in each market. There is no better way to create an emotional connect with the consumer than putting somebody on camera and having them talk about things that most people won't know about.”

“This is - in my opinion - the future of our industry. I think video will absolutely be the common thing that occurs on real estate when you want to market it. To a certain extent there a lot of people really embracing this now that will push (or pull) everyone else into doing it.”

“I'd spend ten minutes [on the phone] talking about this area, ten minutes talking about that area. So I thought wait a minute...Why not spend a day go out there shoot the area? Make a video and and talk about the area. And direct people to a place on my website called areas. Using your resources to tell the story and I don't have to sit there on the phone all the time and explain it. I'm willing to, but watching the video seems a lot easier for people.”

“I'm selling Steamboat first and real estate second. I want to show it in its truest form... the things that you could be doing if you lived in Steamboat. I sell Steamboat first and then a home, hopefully.”

“I got a listing because of my neighborhood tour... one of the people's houses I showed from the water. They called me up because of the video and that's how I got the listing. It's about a 2.6 million dollar listing, the highest listing I've ever had.”

“Most of the time I can't describe to them what it's like to go skiing on the lake or to drive up to a restaurant on the lake or to be out at an event where there's 300 boats in the water and you might have a good time. I can describe that verbally, but if I'm there with my video camera I can tape that and then I show them that… those kind of lifestyle stuff is what really I think sets me apart and also helps my people to know what is life like in Lake Martin? What it's like to go to a restaurant. What can you do? And I can show them via video.”

“I feel in this day and age if you don't get it [local & listing information] from the real estate company, you're probably going to get it from somewhere else. Some listing aggregator or some blog is going to tell the story instead of you telling the story... That's why we try and put videos on everything. We create video for a property, a development, an agent, a neighborhood, interviews with our executives and our agents — anything and everything. If a new initiative comes out, we're not going to do an ad campaign, we're going to create a video.”

“We're democratizing real estate… opening up the flood gates. We are not just putting two photos up there and hoping you pick up the phone. We're providing in-depth walk throughs of homes, showing details, telling a story. We are content providers… we are media companies. We are neighborhood experts. We're the one's who will go out there and tell you everything you need to know about the home and about the neighborhood and not be afraid that you won't pick up the phone.”

“The most successful brands in real estate have become media companies. And there's no reason why brokerages can't become Trulia or Zillow and produce quality content whether it be video, marketing materials, websites, so on and so forth. So I think the most successful brands are transitioning into media companies and the cornerstone of that content is video. It's the most natural step. So video is going to be a valuable entity to any media company or any broker who's transitioning into that role.”

“We offer property video tours and a dedicated property website to our agents to purchase 'in-house'. That product had become so popular with not only our clients, but our sales associates, that we really had no choice but to bring Phil our videographer on full-time just to meet the demand of the product.”

“So how this video worked. We had this awful little house, i mean just really tough. And I had no idea what we could do. I picked up my videographer. We drove to the house. He wrote the script on the way. He goes you gotta film everything with the ‘s#!t’ word in it and I’ll just stop [you] just short of saying it. And so we took five of six elements and ran through it [the edit]. It sold two days later and it was quite the hit!”
