Honestly I think it’s so funny that in the Marvel universe, when someone’s really smart, they have like eight to twelve doctorates and they finished high school at age twelve.

And then over in the DC universe it’s like. This is Tim Drake. He’s a genius. He keeps cloning his loved ones. He dropped out of highschool. Over there is Barry Allen. He can reverse engineer a spaceship in less than a minute. He is such a good chemist he’s still going to be known as the best chemist in 4,000 years. He has a bachelor’s degree.

The response to this is irritating cause objectively it’s good advice. Dont sign up. However, the comments are like “YESSS THIS IS MY SIGN TO NEVER GO TO PROTESTS!!!” That’s not what the poster is saying. Just show up. Don’t never attend. You need to build community with people offline if you ever want to make a difference anywhere.

It took years for my family to understand that "today I rebuilt a disabled old lady's dog houses after they fell apart, and since she didn't have much money she filled up my gas tank and made me lunch" is a common way I get paid.

Last week a couple paid me in a brand new NinjaCreami that their son got them last year that they never used. But living on limited income, they didn't have cash. It was a 2-hour job. They insisted on paying me somehow.

Two months ago a widow wanted help rebuilding her greenhouse and her garden, but she could only cover supplies and maybe a couple hundred bucks. Hiring a landscaping company would have cost her at least 2k for that work.

Am I poor? Yes. Do I care? No. I used to have That Corporate Job, and it ruined me.

The only ladder I care about climbing is the one at my neighbor's house to clean his gutters.
