And I do think they should’ve brought Sandal back in Veilguard, because if he made the trick lyrium dagger, handed it over, and said “Enchantment!” I wouldn’t even bat an eye or consider it a deus ex machina moment. Like yeah of course he could make a perfect copy, and it would be so similar that it could trick Solas. It’s Sandal.

The plot hole would be that his copy would absolutely be capable of rending the Veil.

Have you ever thought about Rosalie in a Regency era AU? And if so, how would you see her surviving or thriving in that period?

(am I picturing all the eligible singles falling over themselves for her attention? Yes, yes I am)

I haven't really translated bg3 into regency before bc it's already an anachronistically historised product from being d&d related, so you can make the conditions as much or as little regency-styled as possible with the canon already :) it's pick and choose your historical setting/etiquette/mores, given that it really isn't strictly medieval!

but.... if I was to say... .think about this on my train home after I've been travelling for 14hrs straight on 3hrs sleep, and put my OC in a historical AU... with her mild touch of autism, I guess regency tropes dictate that Rosalie becomes one of those awkward bluestocking women with one singular scientific obsession that is presumed to make her 'offputting' to men (e.g. she's an entomologist, or I suppose the most obvious choice would be an amateur mathematician/astronomer). i do NOT think she is thriving - as soon as you impose gender limitations on your worldbuilding, she's lowkey fucked. i mean she looks passably and pleasingly femme from a distance, but then she Can't Stop Talking and Can't Stop Being Self-Righteous? To my understanding, that's basically Austen villain material. what do you mean she's not allowed to be 'too intellectual', and talk about her own interests for hours? what do you mean she has to pretend to be interested in other people's definitions of success and socialise constantly, but it's all enforced fun and pointless etiquette for the sake status and social climbing, not accidental, organic enjoyment? what do you mean she's doing Performance checks by the hour? do you want the former agoraphobic to die???

so I guess I would pair a very very tired and burned out awkward amateur astronomer - who is not allowed entry into any of the academic clubs she wants to be a part of on account of her sex, who has had a very sheltered anxious childhood that she compensated for by Reading Too Much About Odd Things, who was then thrust into society with little training or money, who has embarassed herself with multiple failed suits and multiple social mistakes just by trusting other people to have her best interests at heart when that really wasn't ever the case - with whatever horrors you want to put her through, including multiple suitors if that's what pleases you and your headcanon, anon. I think that if we're forcing her Into A Specific Situation: she wants to get married, so she can stop having to attend the season. she hates big gatherings, and dreams of being free from social obligation and public notice, able to stay at home all year round in quiet retirement at a parochial country house, alone with her work. she has decided she does not need the spouse to be there if they don't want to be, they just need to supply the house. it's not a love match it's a social necessity - she is invested in finding a husband, on very practical terms, for the sake of her own future sanity.

As for the other characters, I think Wyll is thriving most in a Regency AU, (obviously). I would make him a soldier who's worked his way up the ranks through merit, whilst hiding his true nobility and protecting the Secret Of His Birth. I think Shadowheart is a Jane Fairfax, only she has a performative and snobbish piousness inherited from an overbearing guardian. I think Lae'zel is if like all the socially inept Bennetts were rolled together, given a handgun, and a complete disregard for if she's doings things properly or not. She's probably extremely wealthy, possibly the wealthiest of all the bg3 party members, and that's why she keeps showing up to things and treating everyone like she's utterly superior to them.

...And I would personally probably cast Astarion as a once-dissolute 'rake' who's recently discovered he has a secret inheritance from a far-off relative, that he can only claim if he becomes 'reformed, married, and settled'. thus meaning he enters society with a chequered past of scandal, and a thoroughly transactional view on romance and marriage :) idk if I would put a Cazador in a Regency AU - and if I did I'd need more sleep and more brainpower to work it all out x
