25 years have furthered you farther, father.

25 years have furthered you farther than perhaps you could possibly have known on the journey of being a father.

From a farter that went parp parp (because minis went peep peep) you grew to be a man with beard - known for the birds and cornflakes it did keep, you have instilled in your children a strange desire to be neat. Though desire is one and action another - will I always be known as the untidy brother?

(and is this a hereditary condition?)

Family is such a wonderful thing - wired to be weird from the day we begin, but as the days pass and years go by, attempts all together begin to untie the knots of not's, no's, why's - the how come's and not fair's and rebellious fires seem calmer - though by no means extinguished. I hope that wont come until after the day we've diminished.

25 years and i've called you many names. Dad, david, dickhead, deaf. Dave (the rave) and master chef. When I think about it - there's so many lessons that were tried to be taught - and I raise my hand in saying i cut class. But such are the joys of looking back and now - with the opportunity for chance changes to the act. So know that I hold you with love in my heart, and a hope for the future and all that can add to the bond that we've built, on which we've tested our weight and found the cords to hold steady (if not truly straight).
