REVIEW The Development - Jackie Kabler 🌟🌟🌟🌟 I was lucky enough to receive this book from @accentpressbooks in exchange of a fair review. The story follows Cora Baxter a TV journalist who witnesses a tragedy on her way home one night, she then sets out to investigate the incident and all is not as it seems. This is the third instalment of the Cora Baxter Mystery series. I have not had the chance to read the previous novels, but this did not stop my from enjoying this book immensely. The mystery was cleverly plotted and I did not manage to guess the culprit until the big reveal. The characters are well developed and I liked Cora and was rooting for her throughout. The only negative I have is that sometimes the dialogue was slightly jarring, the conversations between characters did not seem particularly natural. An altogether good read, which made me want to go back and read the other books in the series...something else to add to my TBR pile! #bookblog #bookstagram #bookworm #booknerd #reading #kindle #bookish #reader #bibliophile #booksofinstagram #whatiread #whatkatiereadnext #booklove #books #book #bookrecommendations #instaread #bookscapes #unitedbookstagram #mybookfeatures #bookreview #accentpress #thedevelopment

A Court of Frost and Starlight - Sarah J. Maas 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 This novella follows on from the events of A Court of Wings and Ruin. Rather than plot development it gives the reader an update of where our favourite characters have found themselves. I have to say that I loved this book - just like I loved the rest of the series. I finished it in one sitting and was devastated that it wasn’t longer. After reading the excerpt of the next book I cannot wait for the next instalment - I’m just praying that I don’t have to wait too long! I’m genuinely gutted that I’ve finished reading this series and I’m very tempted to start at the beginning and read them all over again. 💕. What did you think? Did you enjoy it as much as I did? REVIEW The Light We Lost - Jill Santoplo 🌟💫 I so wanted to like this book, according to the synopsis it had everything I love in a story; romance, drama, humour, sadness - I was told that I would ‘cry me eyes out’ reading this. I didn’t! I was bored! Not sure what else I can really say (which is a bad sign in itself). The story is about Lucy and Gabe who meet on 9/11 in New York, and how they continue to influence each other’s lives from that moment. The potential for this book is there - it could have been great. Unfortunately I really struggled to connect with the characters (who were so self involved it was painful). Because of this I had no sympathy when the inevitable ending finally happened. Such a shame! What did you think of this book? Do you disagree? Would love to hear your thoughts. #bookblog #bookstagram #bookworm #booknerd #reading #kindle #bookish #reader #bibliophile #booksofinstagram #whatiread #whatkatiereadnext #booklove #books #book #bookrecommendations #instaread #bookscapes #thelightwelost

I’ve been going through old boxes of books from years ago (I haven’t enough room on my bookshelves to have them all out). 📚 I found this beauty and had to give it a re-read! It made me feel very nostalgic. I had forgotten how much I loved this story. 📚 I love to go back and read my favourite stories multiple times. Do you go back a re-read books more than once? 📚 #bookblog #bookstagram #bookworm #booknerd #reading #kindle #bookish #reader #bibliophile #booksofinstagram #whatiread #whatkatiereadnext #booklove #books #book #bookrecommendations #instaread #bookscapes #whatkatydid

How did I miss National Tea Day on Saturday? It’s my favourite holiday! 😉 To celebrate this day (even though I am incredibly late) I decided to try out one of my new teas from @bluebirdteaco . As soon as I saw this I knew I had to have it! Of course I had to re-read this old favourite whilst drinking it....it’s an oldie but a goodie! “Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight, At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more, When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death, And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.” #bookblog #bookstagram #bookworm #booknerd #reading #kindle #bookish #reader #bibliophile #booksofinstagram #whatiread #whatkatiereadnext #booklove #books #book #bookrecommendations #instaread #bookscapes #bluebirdteaco #narnia #nationalteaday

REVIEW The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle - Stuart Turton 🌟🌟🌟🌟 💫 I love a mystery story that keeps me guessing right up to the final page! This novel read as a cross between Agatha Christie and time travel sci - fi (I know it sounds awful, but trust me!). “Somebody is going to get murdered at the ball tonight. It won’t appear to be a murder, so the murderer won’t get caught. Rectify the injustice and I’ll show you the way out.” The premise was brilliant, the main character - Aidan Bishop has 8 days to try and solve a murder. Every day he will wake up in a different body and the same day will repeat itself until the 8th ‘host’ has been used. If he is unsuccessful his memories will be wiped and the process will start all over again. I was completely gripped by this book. I was hooked from the start, there were so many twists and turns that I got dizzy! The only negative point I have, and it’s tiny - only half a star’s worth - is that with the main character jumping from host to host so frequently it took me a while to remember who was who. However this problem disappeared when I got further into the story. This is definitely a book for a long reading session, dipping in and out will do you no favours when it comes to keeping up with the plot. A fantastic read all round! Have you had the pleasure of reading this yet? REVIEW The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows 🌟🌟🌟 1/2 ________________________________________________ This is a charming novel set in 1946. The story is about a writer - Juliet Ashton who is contacted by a member of the society in the title. Juliet comes to know each member of the book club and they share with her their experiences of the occupation by German troops in WW2. This book is written as a series of letters between Juliet, members of the society and her friends back home. Because of this format , I felt like I was missing out on vital details and wanted to delve more into the story. The members of the society were very amusing and I found myself wishing I could go and visit Guernsey and hear all about their experiences myself. I wanted to be friends with Elizabeth and was dying to go for tea at Isola’s. However the sheer volume of characters and the format of the book meant that I sometimes lost track of who was who. As interested as I was in this story, the format restricted my enjoyment and I would rather have read the novel that Juliet was writing, than the one I was reading. I can see why this book has been favoured by so many book clubs as it had an interesting story and premise, I just feel it could have delivered more and was slightly underwhelmed by it. I will say that this novel is perfect for a cosy day inside with a cup of tea (or coffee - I’ll let you decide). It is effectively a book about the power of reading and the people that it can bring together. “Perhaps there is some secret sort of homing instinct in books that brings them to their perfect readers. How delightful if that were true.” I’m sure that this is a book that will, in the majority, divide opinion. I’m just not sure whether I loved it or hated it yet! Have you read this book? What did you think? _________________________________ #bookblog #bookstagram #bookworm #booknerd #reading #kindle #bookish #reader #bibliophile #booksofinstagram #whatiread #whatkatiereadnext #booklove #books #book #bookrecommendations #instaread #instareading #bookreview #bookreviewer

Review *********************************************** I have just finished reading The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris. I had heard great things about this book and was very excited to read it. Unfortunately I found it quite disappointing. I felt that it was very one dimensional, and the author barely seemed to skim the surface when it came to character development. Obviously the subject matter is horrific and I do not want to detract from this or trivialise it in any way. It actually read to me more like a screenplay than a novel and I’m sure it will make an excellent film. I read this book quickly and it was very easy to read - partly because of the lack of detail. I gave this book 🌟🌟 What did you think? Do you agree? _________________________________________________ Synopsis In 1942, Lale Sokolov arrived in Auschwitz-Birkenau. He was given the job of tattooing the prisoners marked for survival - scratching numbers into his fellow victims' arms in indelible ink to create what would become one of the most potent symbols of the Holocaust. Waiting in line to be tattooed, terrified and shaking, was a young girl. For Lale - a dandy, a jack-the-lad, a bit of a chancer - it was love at first sight. And he was determined not only to survive himself, but to ensure this woman, Gita, did, too. So begins one of the most life-affirming, courageous, unforgettable and human stories of the Holocaust: the love story of the tattooist of Auschwitz. *********************************************** #bookreview #bookblog #bookworm #bookstagram #bookish #bookaholic

Finally finished A Court of Wings and Ruin (I say finally - I read the trilogy in just over a week). I loved it, I could not put it down. Before reading this I had been complaining to my flat mate that I had not read a book that consumed me so much in a long time. It was the perfect mix of humour, romance and nail biting moments, and I was gutted when it ended! I’m now counting down the days until A Court of Frost and Starlight ❄️🌟 This gets 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 from me. _________________________________________________ Synopsis Feyre has returned to the Spring Court, determined to gather information on Tamlin's manoeuverings and the invading king threatening to bring Prythian to its knees. But to do so she must play a deadly game of deceit-and one slip may spell doom not only for Feyre, but for her world as well. As war bears down upon them all, Feyre must decide who to trust amongst the dazzling and lethal High Lords-and hunt for allies in unexpected places. #acourtofwingsandruin #bookworm #bookshelf #bookblog #bookstagram
