I used to follow you but since I saw your post where you mentioned you were aroace I was like??? the train bellows, reminding ivory, serapter, minute and a whole plethora of whitepine students shouldering past them to get on the train before it leaves.

“the trains here. i think we should get going.” minute says, getting up from the bench.

serapter nods, getting up as well, being to walk towards the door of the train a bit too eagerly.

“ladies first.” minute chides.

the compartments in the train were absolutely packed, both by the students—serapter recognized from the blue buttoned-up uniforms that most wore, including him, and a few citizens wanting to get to emberton.

sitting next to serapter, crossed-legged, minute broke the comfortable silence.

“so, how are you feeling about going to whitepine?” minute asked ivory. serapter almost answered before realizing who the question was directed to.

“uhm…i don’t know.” ivory mumbled, looking out the window, waves upon waves of pine trees rushing past.

serapter fiddled with the hem of his sleeve.

 it felt almost…wrong to be wearing this fancy uniform. after all these years, studying astronomy, and finally—finally getting accepted into whitepine—the school he had dreamed of going to, he should’ve been ecstatic. 

and he was, of course, but he was also overwhelmed. he didn’t know either. 

ivory’s presence helped with that anxiety, a lot.

“good evening! would any of you like something to eat or drink?” the train attendant asked. serapter looked up, jolting slightly at her voice.

“coffee, please. black.”

“uh, just coco-cola, please.”

“o-oh, i’m good.”

and the soda helped a little bit more.

minute sipped his coffee, wiping the residue on his mouth with the handkerchief he kept in his pocket.

“okay, i see…you do know what’s happening though, right?”

“yes.” ivory nodded. serapter supposed that was a good question, considering minute had just found ivory in the woods on the way to the train station.

“good, good. the uh, the ride to emberton will take pretty long, so i'd sit tight, alright? but in the mean time, i'll see if i can find a book or something for you to read. it's better to keep your mind occupied.”

serapter would sit tight, looking forward—or rather, up, at the stars filling his future.
