Imagine this..
You are the healer and support of your traveling party. Unfortunately.. you also seem to be the side character in their story.
Constant danger. Constant use of your mana to shield others and heal them. Your only purpose is to make sure the main characters don't drop dead.
The only one who seems to have your back is the orc barbarian. Also, another character who seems to be on the sidelines as the 'main characters' forge their story. He constantly makes sure to protect you and that your voice is heard as well.
But after, yet another, dangerous battle, the group gets separated. You were shielded from falling debri by the orc barbarian. The dust settles as you both are hurting, tired, and quite done with following the main protagonists this far.
"We should find shelter near water.. then camp for the night." The orc suggested as you both carefully evacuated from the battle sight.
Without the main characters around for the narrative to focus on.. It felt as if your arc was just beginning.

A friend and I were discussing what we're like when we're sick and we decided people usually fall into one of these five 'sick modes': *Everyone is probably multiple of these at different times depending on how sick they are and with what but we think most people have a mode they default to and become more often than the others*
Delicate Consumptive Victorian: you feel tragic and mournful but also beautiful in a sad way, you are in bed, sipping hot tea, others should quietly whisper about how you are too good for this world, too beautiful, too tragic... And bring you more tea
Sick Dog: you are curled up in a ball, you don't want anything, you don't need anything, but it would be nice if others could still ask you if you need anything
Sickly Child Emperor: you are dying and it's everyone else's problem, you need pillows, no! you need soup, no! You need absolute silence or you will not be the first one to die today
Plague Pit: you are curled up probably on the floor, no one touch you, no one look at you, this is between you and God and you already know He has no mercy left for you
Warrior General: you are not sick. You are in perfect health and you don't know why anyone would think otherwise. Illness is an enemy that can be intimidated and you must remain strong for your men! (You are going to pass out at the most inconvenient moment possible)

"If You Want My Husband, You're Gonna Have to F#cking Kill Me."
So, Dead on Main is the best, right?
So, Jason and Danny are secretly married. It's was an accident; somehow, those two managed to do a ghost courting ritual and acceptance without realizing it--Danny's a halfa, Jason is a remnant, neither one was informed that ghost marriage was thing. The two go on an adventure in the Ghost Zone to disolve the marriage, but over the course of the journey, surprise! The two develop feelings and decide that they prefer being married. Maybe it gives them a power up, lets them know how the other is doing/feeling? It's nice, to have someone who's always there for you, that's all their saying.
Obviously, they don't tell anyone. Or at least, no one knows they're still married.
fortunately, it comes in handy. Red Hood, Red Robin, and Stabby Robin got captured by a pissed Black Mask or maybe the League of Assassins... I'll go League, bc less guns. Jason's injured, about to be killed, when Danny bursts through the door, says the title line, and starts ripping through the goons.
he's so pissed, he doesn't even transform, he's using entirely his parents weapons and he's good with them. (no murder Danny, sorry. But he'll probably get covered in other people's blood thanks to the concussive effects of his parents weapons on humans.)

stuff I like
- when the person kidnapped by the villain is all ‘no one’s going to come for me’ and
- someone does, but it’s the person they’d least expect
- EVERYONE COMES because wow, maybe I am depressed because I didn’t think I knew this many people, much less that they liked me
- no one comes and the villain gets pissed on their captive’s behalf and treats them better than their former associates did
- they rescue themselves and everyone’s so impressed but the person yells because I AM CAPABLE AND YOU SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST NOTICED I’D BEEN KIDNAPPED
- they get rescued by a deus ex machina, preferably their dad/mom/grandma/old associate who is exponentially cooler than the heroes
basically, I like it when people get rescued and get validation

I loveee fantasy settings doing magical exhaustion:
burnt out pyromancers emitting steam and smoke
tired cryomancers shivering with visible foggy breath
weary necromancers looking ill and hearing voices
frazzled healers receiving the same cuts, bruises, and injuries of their patients

"I have depression." - character who has been through extensive therapy.
"I feel dead inside all the time and nothing helps!" - character who does like, regular introspective thinking and is aware of the concept of mental health.
"Leave me the fuck alone I'll be fine once I get over my stupid shit." - repressed character.
"It's fine I'm just having an Empty Time. What? Yeah, empty times, you know, when everything is like bzzzzzz in your brain and you don't shower for two weeks. Why, what do you call it?" - ooooughhh now we're talkin

Interest Check: Rescue Team RP Server
Hi all, I know I'm not super active on whumpblr anymore but I've got this idea for an rp server. It would be set up for play by post, in the same rough cinematic universe but with a few different setting options. For example, most of the ideas I'm getting are modern day, but some could be sci-fi too.
Full disclosure, this is the result of me and best friend watching a combination of MrBallen, Kyle Hates Hiking, and Horrible Fates. We both finish a story and go "okay so we need to fix that".
So, what would it be like? A very chill, most likely pretty slow running, server, focused on rescue missions and the immediately following medical aid. Basically, a bunch of elite experts in things like search and rescue, diving, spelunking, industrial environment safety... and this team gets the calls that are pretty much otherwise a lost cause. Some of them go out, whoever matches. ......you know, like Paw Patrol.
Cases would be a single rp, with the team decided in the planning phase, and after it ended, it would end, unless you personally wanted to carry things forward and both players agreed if it was a multiple character thing like a developing bond or inside joke. Two yeses, one no rule on that stuff.
You could have as many OCs as you want as options, both team members, victims, and folks who do both. That's why I'm doing an interest check-- I'll need a few people. And I'm not an OC gremlin like most people, I'm a pitch gremlin. So those people who have one william OCs to put in situations? I love y'all, you're perfect for this.
I know that a lot of us have whump domains that we're experts in, and I also know that three of the top ones are wilderness survival, rescue, and critical care. For me personally, getting to show off that expertise is a lot of fun, but I don't always have the spoons to write fic. I do have the spoons for rp pretty often though, and I do best with a "monster of the week" type setup, where it's bite sized, poppable, little episodes of rp, rather than a long running overarching thing. I'm hoping others do as well, and that there's interest in this. Can't promise that I'll be that great at running a server. I'm super busy irl. But wanted to put this out here, just in case. Feel free to reblog, comment, etc etc. Thanks.

living weapon who’s been trained not to speak but has a very obvious ‘tell’
- eye twitch
- mouth twitch
- white knuckling whatever they’re holding
- sideways glance
- maybe even a scoff
they can’t help it, it just comes out
