Can you believe I've never drawn Essek???

As a result I'm not yet sure about his features and how to paint him... I'll need practice... for now, here's a sketch I made this morning on the train.

Despite Calianna Mordsson appearing in only one episode, we actually know quite a bit about what she did after parting ways with the Mighty Nein.

First, Mark Hulmes originally posted a short story titled "Home" on reddit, though the link is now broken. All I can recall of it is that Calianna traveled back to Othe, to home of her adopted guardians, the dwarven couple Grim and Magda Mordsson. There she told them aboud the new friends that she had made.

Second, the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount includes an adventure hook featuring Calianna, "A Friend in Need", set in the Felderwin Tillage. In it, Cali had been captured by the Cult of the Caustic Heart and the player characters inadvertently interrupted their ritual to sacrifice her to Tiamat. This hook leads Cali to ask the party to help her vanquish the cult for good.

Finally, described in a tweet by Hulmes, Cali learned that Cirisa had captured a young gold dragon named Goldheart to be sacrificed to Tiamat. Cali went with a group of friends to stop her. In the battle Cali faltered, but received a vision from Bahamut to encourage her and help her overcome her shame of her draconic nature, granting her the Gift of the Metallic Dragon feat.

After Calianna and her friends successfully saved Goldheart, the dragon stayed with Cali in humanoid form. They became close and entered a relationship. Eventually the couple wed and had twin half-dragon children with gold and black scales, a boy named Jest and a girl named Calea, clearly named after the two members of the Mighty Nein that left the strongest impression on her.

Included with the tweet were two (well, one and a half lol) pieces of art by Mark, of Calianna after gaining self confidence, and of Goldheart's humanoid form.

I don't think i've ever drawn Essek and that's honestly a crime at this point. I apologize to everyone and present you with the sketch i did in between commissions (which are still open, if anyone interested!) I'll finish this piece in the coming days, stay tuned!~

Much to be said about Caleb's backstory reveal scene and most of it has already been said, but it really is so fun how incidentally emphatic Caleb is about tying the acquisition of his anti-scrying amulet to Vergessen. Without that, it is largely a backstory reveal, a lore dump as Matt describes it, but what with how Liam takes a moment to look to Matt and call out the necklace explicitly as related to Caleb's escape from the asylum, it sets up the heist in a hundred episodes so fucking well. There's no way the possibility of needing those items was even in mind by this point, not least at a point where they were in a place to infiltrate that place in particular, but it makes the later scenario so elegant. Of course they need those amulets to hide from Trent. Of course they can only go back to Vergessen to get them. Not least amidst the war bearing down upon them, the discussion of traitors and foreign enemies, when Caleb will return with foreign magic learned from a Kryn traitor who will also evade discovery from both sides thanks to that heist and Caleb's evolving feelings about justice and mercy. Knowing the outcome of that infiltration—Trent finding them there, Caleb rolling a nat 20 to get them out, swaying Astrid just enough to let them get away from the ensuing chase—makes a simple side comment, almost an aside, into a beautiful piece of foreshadowing.

Still catching up on Nein Again with episode 20, and at around 2h8m they're making jokes about calling Jeremy Crawford and Chris Perkins for rules clarifications. Which is EXTRA funny now.

The early war plot line and the associated conversations are really well done and grounded in such a way that it feels very real—the propaganda is incredibly pointed especially in hindsight, the varied opinions and biases are painfully accurate, and the nationalism is chilling—and also watching it this week in particular is making me thousand yard stare like Caleb Widogast upon hearing the name Trent Ikithon.

I am relistening to Midst from the beginning and I had forgotten what a delight the first meeting between Moc Weepe and Imelda is. He's a former Dark Baron and he's getting absolutely railroaded by social convention wielded by a petite middle-aged woman

I do often forget that the beacons pulse with light but man, it slaps so hard. I want to know if each of them pulses in time with each other. I want to know if the Luxon itself has a pulse.
