I hate the fact I HAVE to study about decadency, Schopenhauer and general f*cking depression of half of the european society in XIX centaury, exactly when im trying to heal depression and think a bit more positive (or at least not totally negative- ), bc I have final exam next week

(And to be clear - a totally get concept of art and philosophy, and fact its mostly if not always motovated by some emotions and implications of environmental influence. But when I read that basically big part of the era was about feeling lack of purpose, the end getting closer and how miserable it is to be alive, I simply wonder if it wasn't just mass romanticising of omnipresent undiagnosed depression as a way to deal with it at some point (bc im pretty sure diagnosing mental health issues wasnt something at daily basis back then lol))
