Did it strongly confirm a bias or suspicion?

Did it make you feel angry, smug, disgusted, superior, and/or helpless?

Is it important enough to you that you think it needs to be shared?

Do you have the energy, time, ability to research, confirm, and provide sources, links, and some additional clarifying details?

Generally I have this in mind, not necessarily always and not always observed, and I forget and blah blah. But it's a pretty simple guide to remember, and honestly items 1 and 9 cover me most of the time.

my most controversial hot take of the century, I know, but I really think people need to brush up on how to recognize trolls and bots. It kind of feels like a skill that's being lost to time, somehow, even though it's no longer just a few yucksters trolling around the neopets forums and niche interest chat rooms, and has evolved into large-scale campaigns to disrupt entire communities for far greater nefarious gains. That bluesky post is full of comments shocked and outraged over... fake comments. Which is great. Because, you know, almost every art community on the internet has been bulldozed in recent years and now one of the only good ones with a solid footing for great potential is being spread around as "worse than twitter" because of a handful of fake comments. They're trolls, people. Clowns at best, trolls and bots at worst. oh my god. I get troll comments all the time... I delete them. Even the rare, very few and far between, sincere comments from real people that are unhinged just get deleted. Trolls are not to be fed and spaces are to be curated. Outrage, esp manufactured outrage, spreads like cancer and is a tool of harm.
