As someone who doesn't use any of these "big three" platforms and has negative interest in them, I'm curious how other people feel.
#no to all three#deleted instagram and twitter in 2019 and it was one of the healthiest decisions I've ever made#I wouldn't touch tiktok with a ten foot pole.#I only use tumblr but even that is usually deinstalled on my phone (and I donāt use it on desktop)#actually... it's probably time to deinstall again...#polls

Happy week my fellow asexuals
[ID: digital drawing of an ace of spades card with a long-tailed weasel at the center. The weasel is purple with lighter colors in the paws and belly, and darker fur in the head and tip of the tail. They hold an asexual flag in the mouth. End ID.]

Hey everyone! I've been gone for quite some time but I've recently finished my Master's degree, so... yeay!
Quick update:
š»š³ I'm still learning Vietnamese, though I haven't been diligent about it the last couple of weeks. I've more or less only attended my Vietnamese class which is happening once a week.
š«š· My French is kinda paused at the moment. I've stopped using Duolingo (yes, I killed my 1100 day streak) because it wasn't serving me any longer and just increased my stress level. Breaking the streak wasn't easy but you shouldn't hold on to something that's not serving you any longer. At the moment, I just occasionally watch a movie in French and I'm about to start reading a book in French. It's way too difficult for my level of French but honestly, that's never stopped me (*remembers that she read The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown (~700 pages) when she had to underline every other word in the book because she didn't know what it meant but somehow still ended up understanding the plot*).
Other than that I'm quite busy with starting a new chapter of my life.

HEY GUYS!!
GUYS!!!
FRANCE HAS REACHED THE REQUIRED NUMBER OF SIGNATURES ON THE CITIZEN'S INITIATIVE AGAINST CONVERSION THERAPY IN THE EU!!
ONE COUNTRY DOWN, SIX TO GO!!
We also need still quite a few signatures in order to reach the one million required.
As to date, the six other countries with the most signatures are:
Spain - 38.72%
Finland - 30.31%
Ireland - 24.86%
Netherlands - 24.15%
Germany - 23.54%
Belgium - 23.09%
So yeah, still a long way to go, but we ARE slowly getting closer. Don't stop now! Don't let this stay within the community, either, if you have any friends or family who are open to queer rights, get them to sign, too!
#please sign of you're an EU citizen#please share if you're not#european citizens' initiative#lgbtq+

Some disturbing German childrenās stories
Ok, so we all know that the original German fairy tales are⦠sometimes quite brutal and disturbing. But it getās worse! Cause there is an old childrenās book by Heinrich Hoffmann (1809-1894) which is supposed to teach children manners (by traumatizing them i guess):
Suppen-Kaspar:
Kaspar was a healthy boy until he refused to eat his soup because he didnāt like it. He became skinnier and skinnier until he was āas thin as twineā and died.
So, eat up your food, kids!

The Sad Story with the Matches:
A little girl was alone at home and found a matchbook. She wanted to play with the matches, but her cats begged her not to because her father had forbidden it. But she lit a match anyway and sure enough her hair and dress caught on fire and she burned to death.
So, donāt play with fire! And listen to your parents!

The Story of Little Suck-a-Thumb:
A little boy named Konrad always sucked on his thumbs. His mother told him to stop and warned him that the tailor would come and cut his thumbs off if he didnāt stop. But Konrad didnāt listen and the tailor came bursting in and cut his thumbs off.
So, donāt suck your thumbs, kids!

Struwwelpeter:
Peter never cut his nails and never brushed his hair and everybody would say: āYuck! Nasty tousle-head!ā
So, personal hygiene is very important if you donāt want to get bullied!

The Story of Wicked Friedrich:
Friedrich was an angry child, he plucked out the wings of flies, he battered birds to death, abused cats, and even whipped a girl! But when he tried to whip and kick a dog, the dog bit him in his leg. Friedrich cried and ran home where he had to lay in bed and take nasty medicine. The dog on the other hand ate all of Friedrichās good food and never let the whip out of his sight.
So, donāt abuse animals and other people! Or youāll have to take medicine while they get to have your food i guess

The Story of the Huntsman:
A huntsman went out to kill rabbits, but laid down in the sun to take a rest. When he was asleep, the rabbit came and stole his gun and glasses and shot at the huntsman who was very frightened and tried to save himself by jumping into a well.
So donāt kill rabbits! They can be brutal! Or something like thatā¦

The Story of Fidgety Philip:
Little Philip could never sit still at the table. He would always fiddle and fidget and rock his chair, until soon enough he lost his balance and fell. He tried to grab the tablecloth to save himself but instead pulled all the food to the ground with him. And both of his parents were very angry cause they didnāt have any food anymore!
So, donāt rock your chair or youāll go to bed hungry!

Hans Head-in-the-Air:
Hans always had his head in the air whenever he walked somewhere; heād look at cloud, the sky, birds, until one day he didnāt look where he was going and fell into the river! But luckily two men fished him out, but he was wet and freezing cold and the fish laughed at him.
So watch where youāre going!

The Story of Flying Robert:
When itās windy and stormy outside, everyone should stay at home. But Robert thought that it must be nice outside and went out with his umbrella anyway. And sure enough the wind caught his umbrella and carried him up into the air. And he was never seen again!
So, if you want to go outside when thereās a storm, donāt take an umbrella with you! Right?

.
(thereās also a story teaching children not to be racist, but unfortunately the story itself is still very racist (itās from the 19th century), so i didnāt include it here)

list five things that make you happy, then put this in the ask box of the last ten people who reblogged something from you. spread the positivity <3
Me answering (checks time stamp) 26 days late without a starbucks:
1) Understanding something in a language I'm learning (literally! Just understanding even two words in a 1000 words text will make me do a little happy dance (not kidding, I really start doing a weird little happy wiggly dance))
2) Actually managing to allow myself to do literally nothing and not to worry about stuff (happens once in a blue moon, but makes me feel a sense of calm I usually never experience; I'd like more if that)
3) Knitting (loved it since I was a little kid and it calms me immensely)
4) Hiking and generally being outdoors (I wish I didn't have to live in the city for university)
5) Spending time with my friends (but also spending time alone)
Thank you so much for sending me this ask (this too made me happy!<3)

I think my biggest problem in studying languages is actually study them.
I picked this hobby which needs consistency in order to learn something, but probably I should have learnt "how to consistency" ... before.
#now there's a mood...#unfortunaty true#also: discipline#i don't have anything it takes to learn a language other than stubbornness to learn it
