SUMMARY: You thought you were taking a stance of neutrality in the war. All you wanted was to do better than the parents you watched struggle to support their family. And for once your accomplishments weren’t being diminished by the fact that Bill or Charlie had done it first, or the fact that your siblings didn’t value the same things you did. Your public feud with your family connected with your high position in the Ministry labeled you a potential spy during the initial trials after the war. And for whatever reason Harry himself stood in your defense.  Sure, Harry defended a lot of people in those early days after the war. His word was considered law by the Auror Department’s standards. But he was still a child and showed in person to defend his best friends older brother who hadn’t deserved it and you will always admire him for that.

Everyone expected you to change yourself after your grand apology during the battle. To be another one of the lighthearted jokesters that the Weasley family seemed to breed like no other. But you let yourself stop worrying once, and Fred died because you weren’t paying attention. Your little brother died because you distracted him. So you haven’t grown past your anxiety and perfectionism, but at least your family has made the effort to ensure you know they don’t expect you to be exactly like all of them.

Wingardiumhqs is now using a freeform application system. This means you may style your application anyway you wish, showcasing your writing abilities as well as characterization of your muse. Please feel free to reach out to the admin team with any questions you may have.

Why are we making this adjustment? Two reasons. 

- I conceptualized this group a little over a year ago, and things got crazy resulting in me not having the time to take it off the ground. At the time I had been torn between a traditional app format and allowing players to do as they pleased. Format this however you like. I have often found giving that freedom in an application results in players having a deeper connection to their character going in, because they have already explored them in a way that makes sense to themselves. 

- It has also come to my attention our app format accidentally looks quite similar to another popular group on this site. While it was not intended, it did cause me to sit and reformat the application for this group. I took this as a sign to go back to my original concept and allow players to format their own applications as they see fit, while still providing examples of what they would like to see in an application. 

I understand this is overwhelming for some, not knowing exactly what to put in their applications. I recommend if that is the case, waiting for my sample application on February 1st, or searching through the multitude of templates being shared by rp bloggers across the internet. There are a variety of free and to purchase google doc templates for purchase on Tumblr or Patreon.

If aesthetics isn’t really your thing, feel free to simply write. Send in a mock blog. A traditional bio. Spotify, Pinterest, whatever leaves you presenting who your muse is. There really is no wrong answer here.

SUMMARY: you’re best memories of are you at ten years old, running barefoot through the back garden with your older brother. what was once a daily occurrence was now a rare one ever since colin had left for his new school and while you had been jealous, it was more over the adventures and friends your brother had been making without you rather than learning magic itself. you had once been inseparable, still were whenever the elder of the two came home for summer and the holidays, even if colin seemed different somehow ever since coming back from his first year. but when summer came to an end it hit you that colin would be gone within weeks and he would be back to the loneliness that came with a brother who went to a magical boarding school all the way on the other side of the country. you had been whispering about it just that morning; what you would do if when, not if, you got your own letter just like your brother’s so you could join him at hogwarts- giggled at the thought of all the mischief you could get up to when a small and slightly ruffled looking owl of all things landed down next to them in the yard. colin’s apologetic look stayed fresh in his mind for years after he picked up the letter, stayed almost as clear as when moments later his jaw dropped and he shoved a separate parchment in your hands with your own name on the envelope. this was it, you would be leaving for hogwarts on September 1st, your eleventh birthday. it had been the memory you thought of while hidden in the room of requirement, only a second year and absolutely too young to be doing anything as outrageous as dumbledore’s army had been. but colin had told you this was important. you needed to know these things and sure, you weren’t keeping up with the older student’s like you wanted to, but even the ​​non-corporeal patronus you had finally managed to cast at the time had been an impressive feat, even though you couldn’t see it yet.  you became a part of something big as only a child. even younger than the other children who had no place fighting in that war. but your shared trauma bonded you for life with people you otherwise never would have formed connections with. you’re the baby of the da. you hate how protective the rest of them can be with you at times- that was colin’s job and just because he isn’t here to complete it that didn’t mean it could get passed along like this. but you try to understand you all have experienced loss.

━━   HARRY POTTER. This 25 year old halfblood wix was a former Gryffindor alumni currently working as an AUROR. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

SUMMARY: The Boy Who Lived. The title makes you scoff because Harry Potter never got the chance to live the life he was supposed to have. You don’t really know what to do with yourself since the war and still each May you get this heightened wave of depression and anxiety that you still haven’t made the connection for yet. You still go through the steps, struggle to grasp the concept that your life is more valuable than catching dark wizards and blindly following the orders of your dead mentor. 

Your weekends with Teddy help more than anything- watching how big he’s gotten and giving him the love you so desperately needed at that age. But he’s been asking harder questions lately and it’s made you question if you really ever knew Remus at all; you still sometimes refer to the man as Professor Lupin in your head without realizing. Just how many of the people that you lost did you really have to begin with? Memories of a lonely childhood keep bubbling to the surface and you’re trying not to find resentment for all the people who could have stepped in over those years. 

It only pushes the narrative you really are nothing more than the youngest Deputy Head Auror the Ministry of Magic ever had.

Highly literate but you can't write your own app? That format is familiar.

I am assuming that your ask in in reference to the fact that my sample as not yet been posted on the page. If you have a genuine concern over the application process or questions on what highly literate means in context to this page, I will gladly speak with anyone off anon.

This may have escaped your notice, but Wingardiumhqs is not yet open to applications. Does that mean you cannot look at the app form and begin writing on your own? Absolutely not. But as we are still in the early stages and not accepting apps, I have not posted my own to the page.

Once the first round of characters has been released and our submit box opens, then a sample application will be released. Even though we currently have an admin team of only one, myself and any potential additions will be held to the same standards as other members.

SUMMARY: Your brothers were always the funny ones, the pranksters that everyone went to when they needed a laugh, but that didn’t stop you from learning how to use humor as a coping mechanism from a young age. Perhaps it only encouraged it. You grew up terrified and helpless, watching as your best friend dealt with horrors you couldn’t comprehend because you were only children and the adults in your life never believed it was as bad as you said. 

You became an expert at diffusing the tension- becoming the friend to everyone and stepping up while everyone’s world crumbled apart. It didn’t matter that Fred was your hero, you idolized the older brother who you never truly got to grieve because George lost his twin and your mother lost a son and both of those things were so much worse so it was your turn to step up. 

You have a reputation for holding things in until you burst and while you’ve grown a lot since the petty fights it would bring as a teenager, you’re struggling. You were left at the alter only a month ago and nothing has been the same since. You’re crumbling.

SUMMARY: After years of trying desperately to become someone your grandmother would be proud of you gained something even more valuable, pride in yourself. Your part in the war got you a job as an Auror quite easily, and while you didn’t enjoy it, you found purpose in your work. There was still so much to do after the battle, and you weren’t going to back out just because things weren’t being shoved in your face. Plus, your career has given you an added bonus of feeling a connection to your parents for the first time, that was difficult to give up. 

You haven’t told a sole you’re leaving the department yet, the only person who knows in Professor McGonagall. For all the courage you’ve gained over these years, you’re still afraid of how everyone will take you giving up the fight to go teach of all things. But you really think this may be your calling.

SUMMARY: The Minister of Magic himself came to your wedding. Designers from all across Europe fighting to make your dress, the entire ordeal covering the front page of The Prophet. Some of the highest members of the society you fought so hard all these years to prove yourself to were there for your day and yet it wasn’t the embarrassment of running in front of such high power figures that left you the most ashamed. 

Giving Ron back his grandmother’s ring was the hardest thing you have ever had to do. Worse than those final months of the war, or any time a lead on your parent’s location came up to be a dead end. You love him; still you love him enough to spend the rest of your life with him but you haven’t had a chance to prove everything you can be. The Brightest Witch of her Age was so much more than one of the so called Chosen One’s best friends who helped in the war when she was seventeen. Hermione refused to be someone who hit their greatest accomplishment at seventeen. She’s lost some respect to reach her goals, but she had given up her years to be selfish to fight in a war. It was her time to climb to the top and prove what she can do.

WINGARDUIMHQS is a small and highly literate trio era roleplay set in approximately seven years after the battle at hogwarts. we aim to remain without a detailed overarching plot to focus our writing on character and world development in the years after the seventh book ends.
