Every now and then I'm reminded of an analogy my therapist (who I no longer see due to other issues not involving him) made one day:

"When there's a fire in your kitchen, you don't go knocking on everyone's doors' to figure out who started it; you put the fire out first."

Which, at the time, I hesitantly agreed with. He was basically saying "Calm yourself down before trying to figure out what, exactly, is giving you anxiety."

I don't actually agree with that analogy though. My issue is that I DO need to figure out what is causing my anxiety before I can calm down. For example:

1) Is it a normal fire that I can put out with water? (Something I can address immediately; I just remembered I have a payment due, so I get on my phone and do it.)

2) Is it a grease fire that I have to cover and leave somewhere safe until it goes out on its own? (Something that I can't do anything about right at that second; I have something happening tomorrow, and I'm already as prepared as possible.)

3) Is it a gas fire? (Something where I can straight-up eliminate the source of stress; I'm participating in too many things and not giving myself enough free time, so I need to drop one of my activities.)

All of these are things that I have experienced. Sometimes I can use my anxiety to actually get something done - usually a school assignment - and sometimes there is not a single thing I can do about the cause of my anxiety, but just simply telling myself that helps calm me down. And other times, I'm just simply overwhelmed and need to drop an optional activity or two and focus on what needs done without burning myself out.

This was mainly just me rambling, but I hope this can help someone else who struggles with anxiety. I had to stop therapy because it got too expensive and the way my anxiety works meant that the appointments themselves were giving me panic attacks, despite the fact that I at least kinda enjoyed them. So like, everyone works differently, and I hope this helps anyone else who also has reasons to not go to therapy.

Also! You can crack an egg directly into the boiling ramen! I usually wait until the noodles are soft but not fully cooked, crack a couple eggs in, then let it cook for only an extra minute or two. I don't actually have a logical issue with raw egg, but my brain gets grossed out if the whites aren't fully cooked, so cook it for less time if you want it a bit more runny, or more time if you want the yolk fully cooked as well. Whether you stir it or not is fully up to you, I get paranoid about the eggs burning, so I stir the ramen shortly after dropping in the eggs!

Put an egg in your ramen. Put scallions in your ramen. Put chili oil in your ramen. Put kewpie Mayo in your ramen. But nori in your ramen. Put tofu in your ramen. Put miso paste in your ramen. Put mushrooms in your ramen.

Ooh, I'm so happy to finally be posting this! For this year's MCYT AUFest Big Bang ( @mcytblraufest ), they actually did a "Reverse Bang". Basically, the artists started off the event! I've been brain rotting this concept for a while, and I'm super excited that it's finally come to life! Thank you so much to HallsofDarkness for taking on my idea and writing an amazing story! Looking for Writers

Hello! We have three art pieces that are looking for writers through the pinch-hit process, and they're all a bit unusual, so I thought I'd post about them here!

PH2: Set on Hermitcraft, this piece has three art pieces AND some reference sheets, focusing on Xisumavoid with side support from EX, Keralis, and TFC. The au is described as "Young X & Ex, Space Exploration AU in the limits of Minecraft. Welcome to the HermitCraft, piloted by TFC"! It's open to all ages, and the artist is okay with graphic depictions of violence.

PH3: Focusing on Yogscast - Flux Buddies, this piece is a MLP au with the characters Lividcoffee, Nanosounds, and Lalnable Hector. It has two images (one of which has two versions), and the author is open to graphic depictions of violence as well! It's open to authors of all ages.

PH4: Focusing on Empires season 1, this is an animorphs au with the art hosted on a custom website! It allows a focus on any of "mythicalsausage & pearlescentmoon & fwhip & geminitay", and the author is okay with both graphic depictions of violence and major character death, if you want to lean into animorph's darker themes! They're also okay with fluff, so really you have the whole spectrum of creativity available for you! It's open to 18+ writers.

The minimum for these pieces is 5k of writing inspired by the art, and it's due on the 27th of July. For more information, and to see the art (I don't want to spoil it by posting it here), check out the discord!

I love the image of techno as this immovable object not just bc of his drive and stubbornness but literally. No matter who tries to tackle him he just doesn't budge. Nobody understands how his stance is so fucking solid until they see phil launch himself at techno from full flight to use him as a landing perch. That has been techno's daily training since he first met the old crow. Nothing can topple him. He will never fall.

And what an absolute asset that would be in combat honestly, since a lot of swordfighting relies on proper stance.

I had a sweet dream last night where emerald duo had a chill stream together. Or rather Philza was streaming bc Techno rarely did lol. Phil found him idling in the world, having a call with Technodad while working on his potatoes. Techno was annoyed about something and cussing like a sailor until Phil laughed and mentioned he was live, at which point techno was like ‘nooooo my ad revenue— my family friendly rating! YouTube is gonna fire me! I’m ruinnnnedd phillll…’ while Philza cackled. Then they flew on elytras through the world, dipping and diving and laughing. It was just so happy.

And then techno’s like ‘Phil. Phil you have to see this.’ Pulls out and ender chest and acts super covert and sus for the bit. Then he pulls out a sword that’s enchanted to the nines, way past what’s possible in survival mode. He hits Phil and he’s immediately killed, only for them to realize wait we flew thousands of chunks out, that was an awful idea. But they’re having fun just talking to each other as Phil walks back, at which point he’s like ‘your turn mate! ^-^’ and techno panics a little. ‘Uhhhhhhh give me a second-‘ and just pulls on crazy op armor, chugs potions and godapples. Tanks the sword like a beast.

“Not even close!” he crowed. While on half a heart.

And they just continued to joke around and idly play Minecraft. And I just. Miss them so much.

Remember when people got mad at me when I said “if you can’t even name 10 trans men activists from the 1980s-2010s I don’t think any of your takes about trans men and our experiences have any value imo.
