i think the next fire emblem protagonist should have alive parents. i think the parents should be alive for the entire game, and in all the supports the protagonist should bring it up. like some cavalier will be like "My parents died at a young age" and your guy will be like "Wait they can do that?" Another person will be like "My dad doesn't want me to be a knight" and your guy will be like "My dad supports me with whatever. He's alive also."

And there's an optional 'Parent's Shrine' which is just their house and two stock photo people are there like "Hello child, welcome home!" and you are presented with options such as "Talk about the Big Game," "Sit on the couch in silence," "Eat some chicken parmasean they made," or "Ask if they want you to take out the garbage."
