Haven't been on here in ages but came on because of a couple of the last instance on this post and all I can say is this whole post is accurate af

Coming into a fandom late

Granted, I have not seen Once Upon a Time in ages, but I heard it has officially had a fork put in it.  Honestly, the only way it could possibly be redeemed for me is if the final scene consisted of a close up of a sign reading “Tallahassee Population XXXXXX”, then switch over to a total shot of a large but cozy house, and have a few seconds of audio overlay of kitchen happenings (sound of a knife cutting vegetables, wine being opened, plates being set), then switch to an interior shot of Emma and Neal, getting a large meal ready while Henry plays with a little sister/brother/both.  David and Mary Margaret show up, followed by Mr. Gold and Mrs. Belle Gold, and finally Regina, who we find out was Henry’s foster mother while Emma and Neal got their shit together and before they found their respective parents.  The whole big family sits down to their weekly/monthly dinner and a great time is had by all.  Switch to an exterior shot of the house and pan over across the street to a creepy looking house.  An old, washed-up, alcoholic Killian peers into a telescope, focused on the house across the street. He sneers, and turns to a typewriter.  Turns out, he’s a decrepite who’s only been trying to write himself as a “good guy” this whole time, but we are in no doubt, that he will never succeed.

So I decided to bite the bullet and remade the ST/SF video.  I’m pretty pleased with the result, so I hope you are as well!

So, I stopped watching Once Upon a Time halfway through 3B when it originally aired, so several years ago, but I have recently found myself waxing nostalgic over Emma and Neal.  Like, to the point I’m considering making a new version of the video I made for them ages ago, because I have much better editing software and pretty much, I feel they deserve it. 

But then, when I think of what might have been, I kind of want to cry...

Oh, I pretty much loathe Rhaegar!  For the longest time I felt like the Oberyn of the fandom (aka the only one to give a damn about Elia and her kids). The double standards a lot in the fandom had/have between Cersei and Melisandre letting their lives and decisions be dicated by a prophecy compared to Rhaegar letting his life and his decisions be dictated by a prophecy hasn’t helped matters either...

Honestly, the only way I could find him mildly interesting is if he turns out to not be Jon’s father and turns out to be Dany’s.  I have a big theory that Lyanna+Arthur=Jon and Rhaegar+Ashara=Dany (I’m certifiable-yes I know).  But since that has around 0% chance of happening, I’ll just content myself with my intense dislike of him.

Funny enough, it looks like you’ve already reblogged my one piece (so far) of ned x cersei (the black and white gifset manip with the one shot to go along).  I’ve been meaning to write a massive chapter fic based off of that. Hopefully I can get around to it soon.  I’ll let you know when I do.

That reminds me, I really need to be better about checking the tag.  Think it’s been a couple of years and back then I think there were three other people than me that shipped it, lol.

Oh wow! I followed you because of your opinions on Elia and Rhaegar, which I pretty much entirely agree and now I find out you ship Ned and Cersei as well. I love those two so much, especially together. I haven't been able to do as much creative stuff with them as I'd like but hopefully in time. Thanks for being awesome!

First of all, thank you so much! I’m glad my hatred of Rhaegar has gained me followers, it really renews my faith in the internet. 

And Y E S, I absolutely love Ned x Cersei! So much potential in that pairing. If you do decide to do anything creative with them, please let me know! I’d love to see it and I’m starved for content for this ship.

What if Jemima is...

Big spoilers for anyone not caught up so the rest is under the cut

not dead?  At least, not dead-dead.

My thought is that the fire was a set-up on Daniel’s part. Jemima made it clear that the only reason she was marrying Bentley was to get money for her brother.  Bentley doesn’t need to live for this to happen.  I’m a bit unsure on this part, but as his wife, she should inherit all his money upon his death.  In turn, Daniel would then inherit the money with her death (or he would inherit it directly-like I said, I’m a bit unsure of inheritance law in 1830 England).  That could have been his plan all along, especially with Marlott being her “wedding gift”.

Knowing how devout his sister was, Daniel would have to know she would never consider infidelity.  Daniel would also realize that having direct control over the money, rather than being at Bentley’s mercy, was in his best interest.  So, to get his sister out of the situation (especially if he heard about Bentley’s dalliances) and to get control of the money, he sets the fire himself.

I will say this.  I do think Jemima died in the fire from smoke inhalation.  What I think Daniel wasn’t telling the whole truth about is he managed to get her out and tossed the body of a random woman to be the stand in for her.  It’s two sets of dialogue that make me think this is a possibility.

The first is from S1E6, when he’s giving reanimated Marlott to Jemima as a wedding gift (cause you know, nothing says brotherly love and sorry you have to go into a crappy marriage for my benefit like reanimating her dead love…):

Daniel: “He lives.”

Jemima: “You rescued him?  From the gallows?”

Daniel: “No.”

Jemima: “Then what?”

Daniel: “From the grave.”

He distinguishes being able to stop him from dying and stop him from being dead-dead, for lack of a better term (because in a show like this being irrevocably dead and being dead but not dead needs distinguishing).  That’s what I think is interesting with the dialogue from Season 2 Episode 6 when Marlott is confronting Daniel over what happened to Jemima:

Daniel: “I was too late.  I could not save her from the fire.”

During this scene, Daniel really seems like there’s something he wants to say and if I’m right about Jemima, he probably realized that time would really not be a good time to say to Marlott “Oh, bee-tee-dubs, I couldn’t stand the thought of losing my sister forever so I did to her what I did to you, even though I knew she’d hate me more than she already did, but hey!”  Then right after that, he talks about sacrifices needing to be made, and he talks about Frederick and his father.  So, Johann sacrifices his son for the cause and Daniel sacrifices his sister.

So, if she’s not dead-dead, then how did Marlott see her in Season 2 Episode 1?  I’m of the belief that those with the same creator can touch each other in their respective purgatories or whatever.  Just like how Marlott was able to touch Esther by the shoreline, he was able to touch Jemima at the house. While Marlott sees Nightengale and Flora and other dead, and he talks to them, he doesn’t touch them from what I recall.  The physical contact Marlott and Jemima share in the season 2 premiere likely holds some significance and that’s my explanation for it.  

There’s also another interesting bit of dialogue from Marlott to Jemima in Season 2 Episode 1:

Marlott: “I was lost. I couldn’t find you.”

So physically Marlott knows he’s been in a psychiatric institution for the past few years. If it was strictly a physical thing it would have made more sense to say “I couldn’t get out/escape/run” or something of the like. The whole being lost indicates to me a more spiritual part of their connection.  His spirit couldn’t find her spirit. Another thing he says to her is:

Marlott: “Where are you? You must tell me.”

Again, if she is alive-alive, he shouldn’t be able to talk to her like he was. If she’s dead-dead, where she is shouldn’t matter because he wouldn’t be able to find and “save” Jemima as he did Esther.

Jemima also implores him to find Daniel.  It could be because finding Daniel will lead him to her.

Another thing is at the beginning of the season, we’re led to believe that both Daniel and Jemima died in the fire.  We later learn that Daniel survived so why can’t the same be true for Jemima?

Of course, if Jemima is dead but not dead-dead and have been kept in a prison of sorts by her brother, her situation is a bit precarious, at the end of Season 2, to say the least. I do think the writers gave Daniel an out of sorts by letting him have a small vial of the catalyst and having Frederick be desperate. So, Daniel uses the small catalyst sample as a bargaining chip, Frederick gets him out and he can go back to Jemima, if Marlott doesn’t find his way to her first (aka the whole having a different path to follow).

That’s my theory. If nothing else, it will be my headcanon forever more. If you’ve read through all of this-a big thank you!

Tl;dr: Daniel set the fire which killed Jemima and Bentley to gain control of the money and then reanimated his sister and that’s why Marlott can have physical contact with her in the purgatory that is the house.  The path he is supposed to follow will lead him to Jemima.
