khalid dragged his hands down his face. “oy, this is such bullshit!” he exclaimed. “it’s freshwater. freshwater? i thought it was saltwater! salt in the air’s supposed to be good for the skin, you know, like absorbing all the nutrients or whatever from the air, like vitamin d and salt, so you look fresh after a late night at the club. like dude, now it’s just vitamin d and emptiness. what the fuck, man. what’s the point of being outside.” he stared at the other, awaiting an explanation or words of encouragement that would help calm his distress under this too bright sky.
Winter took a moment to sit in silence. Confused, sure, but more importantly he was relieved to find someone who was having just as bad of a time as he was. “Thank you.” He breathed after his momentary silence. “I’ve been sitting here miserable for the past two hours, sweating what feels like every liquid in my body wondering what the fuck is the point y’know? I was told there would be alcohol, and get this --- wine coolers. All they have is fucking wine coolers. Who is that doing anything for?”

“ah, come on winter. don’t make me fucking beg you lazy fuck.” ryder groans. letting out a deep breath, ryder shrugs his shoulders, “erm…for fun? to show off my body, a bit of both.” he offers him his reasoning.
“Begging me to do anything but sit here and looking mildly interested would be a crime against nature.” He continued to complain, though his tone was a lot lighter as to not disappoint the other too much. “Oh so not only are you trying to attack my lungs you’re trying to embarrass my slightly too lanky body for that of a thirty one year old? Ryder, I thought we were friends...--- at the very least, acquaintances.”

“Just hearing you suggest physical activity to me is making me tired. I’m ready for a nap. Why would you willing put yourself through an obstacle course as hot as it is out here?”

“Exactly… I had to figure it out the hard way… so should they,” she crossed her arms. Maybe Salomé was still a tad messed up from being abandoned by her father? However, it’s never too early to show some kids the truth about the real world. “Don’t get me started on failure…”
“I was joking...--- well, partially. It would be funny to see the angry parents over their child losing but that’s besides the point. It sounds like maybe what you need is a drink, and not to be within five mile radius of small children. I’m sure there’s some place we can grab a wine cooler. I doubt they have anything stronger.”

“Trying to decide if I want to ruin some kids hopes and dreams by entering the sandcastle contest or if I should just take a ride on a jet ski?” she looked over beside her. “What do you think?” @vestalanding·
“I’m always down to hear a child cry. Little bastards have it so easy, why not give them a taste of the real world but showing them how we’re all bound to fail at some point. Or in my case, all points.”

noelle-cash·:
Following the sound of his voice, Noelle made her way to the studio and leaned against the door jam just staring at him for a moment. Letting a sly smile fill her face she remained where she was. She needed the space - it was safer for her that way. Even if a failed engagement haunts her daily, Noelle still knows what kind of affect Winter has over her. “So, were you going to tell me there was another lady in your life? Or just let me keep calling you pet names until someone bashed my head against a wall?” She kept her tone light and playful, acting as if she was completely unabashed by the whole predicament.
It definitely wasn’t the confrontation he was expecting. Not about the EP at least. Truthfully, he thought she’d stop paying attention to his music the day he texted her a track number the night of her engagement. So hearing her mention it at all in his drunken confusion was a surprise. But he didn’t have time to let his stomach drop at the thought of her hearing songs he’d written about her because she was already showing how off base she was. “Another lady? What?” He questioned with a laugh before realizing she was serious. “Noelle Marie, do you think anyone would waste their time on me? Of course there isn’t another person in my life. And even if there was there will only ever be one Noelle Marie hm?”

“something along those lines- though it’s less for inflicting pain and more of a -i picture someone else in that chair kind of feeling. -been to therapy- done it, not worth the price, all I did was homework like I was in school again. -it’s theo_horn if you’re curious, some bastard took just ‘theohorn’ so I got left with the cheap version. -oh that sounds amazing, i got a tattoo of a penis my friend drunken tatted on me, it’s nearly faded now but the memory still remains.”
“That was definitely said a little too casually, may be an hr violation of some sort but hey --- you’re not killing anybody. You do have the eyes for it though.” He lightly teased as he pulled his phone out to look up the other’s instagram. Sure to follow his instructions. “You have a penis tattooed? That’s next level for the joke, even I wouldn’t go that for.”

“I didn’t think it would ever happen. Meeting something with a much sadder sad sad life than me. This is a huge moment for me, thanks man. I may have my issues, but at least I’m not beefing with many birds Wow.”

“An Evan’s with any form of healthy coping mechanism would be ground breaking,” she continues, although she’s feeling quite at ease. After all, it was somewhat true. Their family was pretty messed up, to say the least. “I’m kidding, kind of. We have a cleaning lady that comes once a week, when I’m too busy with the studio. It’s fine,” she laughs softly.
“What’s not healthy about spending copious amounts of money on alcohol, and complaining about being confronted with the truth?” He teased back. He had long known he needed to get better at confronting the truth, he just preferred his way of adamantly avoiding it. Whatever truth that may be. “Why don’t you both just move in with me and let me help you with your studio? I mean we’ll probably still have a cleaning lady as I am a lazy piece of shit, but at least we’d get our parents out of the picture.”

“honestly? I thought the same thing before I really dabbled into it. I thought me and needles? not a great idea, but I realized you get to poke at people and get paid for it.” he told with a shrug, “Of course I got pictures, they’re all over my instagram page.. to be honest might be my proudest works of art yet. -do you have any tattoos? with the ideas you have, i’m hoping you do.”
“So you like inflicting pain onto others? Is there a therapist you see for that? Kind of sounds like a sociopathic tendency if you ask the true crime documentaries I’ve spent way too much time watching...--- I’ll definitely need your instagram handle then. That’s a tattoo I need to see how it turned out. I do have several tattoos. My favorite though is the one on my chest. It’s alive aha fuck. But in the same style as those live laugh love things you can find at hobby lobby. I absolutely love it. It’s probably the dumbest thing on my body.”

@wintereva-ns··
It honestly hadn’t taken much convincing for Noelle to get off the couch and call the uber. By the time she has texted him asking if he had her preferred alcohol available she was already up and getting ready. But it wasn’t until she was in the actual uber, driving towards his house that apple music alerted her to activity on his artist page. Putting in her head phones, curiosity always getting the better of her when it came to Winter’s music, she hit play, letting his voice fill her ears. One song - Two songs - Three songs - Four. And then the uber stopped in front of his house. She sat in the car a split second longer than she should have, earning confused looks from the man in the front seat, who obviously didn’t want to ask her what was wrong nor lose money from another ride. Sighing, she righted herself and climbed out of the car, mentally putting on an armor she never thought she would need again. Not even bothering to knock, she just let herself in, a habit that she had stopped years ago but figured he wouldn’t care one way or the other. Calling out, she moved deeper into the mansion trying her best to determine which room to find him in. “Lucy, you have some explaining to do…”
He was left too long alone with his own devices. With the alcohol swirling in his system and thoughts of Noelle doing more than just plies with her ex fiancee he wanted a distraction. One that he’d always gone to whenever he was feeling too much for comfort. At the time it seemed like a good idea. He swore he was over Noelle. After her engagement announcement, he promised he wouldn’t write anymore songs about her. But he had. And each time he told himself he was just exiling any left over feelings. That they’d never see the light of day. But the fiancee came back, and he was suddenly feeling helpless again. Like he was seeing Noelle for the first time all over again. Like he was losing her all over again. And once again he told himself this was the last time. He’d post the ep and with those secrets gone off his hard drive his feelings would subside. For a moment he did feel better. At least well enough to rest his head. But moments of peace were abruptly disturbed by the sound of a door closing, and any assumption that Summer had stopped by to visit him was quickly wiped away at the sound of her voice. “Lucy?” He called back as sat up from the couch in his studio, “Come in here and tell me what it is I did now.” Though he knew. He just didn’t anticipate her to say anything about it. Or more so he hoped she wouldn’t.

lysataylor·:
Lysa grinned, resting her chin in her palm as she listened to him go on and on about her bangs. “If that was meant to shut up my nine-year-old self and her irrelevant opinions, it was definitely a success. Though I’m afraid you lost her at cottage-core,” she pointed out with a light chuckle, appreciating every kind word and teasing joke that came out of his mouth. “Try hair salon at three in the afternoon after my mom told me my forehead’s too big. I mean, she wasn’t wrong, but.. I think I would’ve preferred to hear it from middle school mean girls like normal people.” Huffing out a small laugh, she brushed her fingers through her bangs, puffing them up with the tips. She didn’t think she would’ve made the joke, or confession or whatever it was, with anyone else, but it didn’t even come close to feeling weird or distasteful as she smiled up at him. “You do realize that I’m gonna need a detailed schedule of your upcoming gigs now, right? Or a private concert if you don’t play at all right now. I mean, sure, I’m gonna check out your Spotify the respectful two minutes after we’ve parted ways, but live music’s live music.” Him mentioning photoshoots and magazine spreads, even if it was in a negative light, got her thinking of a possible portrait piece. They’d discussed starting a series on local celebrities and she felt like Winter would be perfect for it. For now, it was just an idea though, one she wasn’t even going to bring up. Not before she had all the details, and she could be sure it’d be just as enjoyable for him as it would be for her. She let out a small laugh as he talked about his sister, still finding it hard to believe she’d seen her at a random coffee shop a few months back. “Yeah, she told me about him a little bit. Still, wow! Summer Evans has a son. Winter Evans has a nephew. Makes me so happy. Though I kind of want to see you in your uncle element now. Are you ‘the cool uncle’?” Lysa beamed back at him as he offered his congratulations, answering with an enthusiastic nod. “Absolutely, I can’t see why not. I mean we’re not Google or anything, we don’t have ball pits and slides, but there’s a pretty great art wall and we’ve got one of these standing treadmill desks too.” Her smile got even wider when he asked about her relationship, shaking her head with a small chuckle at the list of details he demanded. “Well, his name is Hunter and he’s a writer. Tall, handsome, great smile. Even greater character. We met a nursery when I was buying flowers and.. I’ve been completely smitten ever since. As cheesy as it sounds, it’s like he was written for me. Make fun of me for that all you want.”
“Ouch.” It was the first comment that he could think of after learning the reason behind her getting her bangs. Though he knew better than anyone what growing up with a mom who majored in backhanded compliments and was fluent in the art of ‘i’m just being honest’. Where Lysa seemed to give in just to keep the peace, Winter took to becoming everything his mother hated. It was like if he told him not to do something, he went out of his way to do the thing she specifically asked him not to. But it’s how they coped. “There’s not really a schedule, nor any shows. But I am still recording, had a home studio built for it. So you’re more than welcome to a studio tour, and a sit it on a recording session. Just as long as you promise to be brutally honest on what you hear. I didn’t get this far by having people lie to me on my pretentious lyrics, and sad boy riffs.” He offered with a soft laugh finding that he was actually pretty eager to have Lysa take a look at where he worked. And not only where he worked, but also to hear what he had been working on. “Could I ever be anything but the cool uncle? I mean look at me. I reek of irresponsible fun and break rules his mom set. And it’s not like his mom can get rid of me which makes it even better.” He chuckled. Though it was hard for him to admit it out loud, but he adored the little boy. Wanting to make sure he grew up without the terrible influence of their parents. Which he found was getting a little hard to avoid seeing how stubborn Summer was about accepting his help instead of their parents. “And here I was completely in it for a ballpit. I would so donate the money to get you guys a ballpit. But i’ll still look forward to it” He was only half joking about the ballpit. His hands coming together in a loud clap as she speaks to him. “Hunter, wow. That’s a name isn’t it? You met at a nursery? Sweet jesus. Written for you? I’m the song writer, I’m suppose to be the cheesy one out of the two of us. Which, I’m completely stealing this material.” He teased with a soft laugh. “No jokes though, I’m happy for you. Really. It’s easy to see how happy he makes you, you’re literally glowing. It’s blinding. Could you tone that down for me?” He laughed giving her a soft nudge.
