Moving day

Pairings: Barry Allen x reader

Summary: You and Barry were finally moving in together. Moving with the speedster isn’t as easy as you thought

Barry finally asked you to move in with him. You’ve been dating for 4 years and it’s always a hassle packing overnight bags back to back which makes laundry day even longer so when he finally got tired of his hesitance and being upset when you left the next day he decided he needs to man up and ask you...which you said yes.

“Baby, where’s my box of clothes? I thought I brought them in first” you asked but didn’t get a response from the speedster

“Barr?” Still no response. You sigh and get up, deciding to look for the clothes yourself until you felt a harsh wind against your face.

“Y/n aren’t you supposed to be unpacking?” Barry asks while holding 10 bags of big belly burger.

“Well yeah but I thought you’d help too. This is your place after all baby. I dont know where you want me to put things” you were getting a little frustrated. If he really wanted to he could unpack and put away all of your items in 2 seconds but that was only if he wanted to and for a speedster he sure is lazy.

“Just put them wherever. This is your place now too. This is our home” he places the bags down and gently grabs your hands before placing a tender kiss on your head which relaxes you for a bit.

“Okay but can you please help me?” He chuckles at the little pout you give.

“Okay okay I’ll help baby.” Next thing you know another harsh wind blows in your face and Barry’s back in front of you except he has your bras in one hand and lace underwear in the other.

“Woah baby I knew you wore lace but this is a new level. When was I going to see these?” He asks with a little grin on his face

“Well if you must know Mr.nosey. I bought new lingerie for tonight as a way to celebrate us moving in together but since you’re not being so helpful change my mind” you say sassily before taking your lingerie out his hands and put them back in the box. You felt arms around your waist and light kisses on your neck.

“Nooo baby I’m sorry! I’ll start being helpful. I just got sidetracked by your-“ you cut him off with a kiss and giggles at his stuck facial expression.

“Sincr you did say you’ll start being helpful. Here.” You grunt as you pick up the heaviest box full of your college text books and drop them in his arms. He didn’t show any sign of it being heavy for him. The strength of your handsome boyfriend always surprises you. There were at least 4 thick textbooks in there. The hardback ones too.

You finally decided to go back to unpacking and rearranging your things until you heard a gasp from behind you.

“Woah babe I didn’t know you had Attack on titan collector’s edition! Cisco would love this” his eyes lit up like a kid in a candy store as soon as he spotted it.

“Yeah, it was a birthday gift ffrom my grandpa” you say quietly while sorting through your things. Usually you’d be so full of energy along with him but you’re too tired. You stayed up till 4 am trying to pack all of your things while Barry was out doing his nightly patrol around the city. He offered to skip and help but you didn’t want to take him away from his lovely flash duties. The sleepiness was catching up to you fast though and you were getting quite annoyed with his antics now.

“Baby. You’re awfully quiet. You okay?” He asks with a sincere tone but you couldn’t snap at him. Instead you looked over with a tiny smile.

“Yeah baby just...really tired. I didn’t get much rest and unpacking is taking longer than I thought it would”

“Hey hey it’s okay. I’m sorry I haven’t been much help. You rest in the bedroom and I’ll take care of unpacking okay?” He rubs your arms softly as reassurance and you thank him with a kiss on his cheek.

“I love you Barr” you say softly

“I love you more beautiful” his compliments always make you blush. You yawn and go to the bedroom, Barry watching you with admiration on his face.

He uses his speed and everything is unpacked. Your clothes is now in his closet, your collections are all put away safely, your comfy throw blanket is now apart of his living couch, and your little knickknacks are hinted all around the main room. It’s a great balance of the both of you. Your things definitely made his place get some life into it. He decided to make lunch while you’re asleep to past the time.

A few hours later and you woke up to old time rock and roll on blast downstairs. You huff, blowing a loose strand of hair out of your face. This is the millionth time you’ve woken up to Barry doing the risky business dance and at this point it’s become a part of your routine.

You quickly get up and go downstairs. Half way down you can see some of your things displayed around the room and you smile. You already feel welcomed at your new home. It makes you relax completely and soon you join in dancing with Barry. Silently thanking he took over this time and that the next moving day is another year or two from now when he proposes to you in the home you both purchased together.

It was finally the weekend which means it’s Halloween weekend. Noah has been talking nonstop about going trick or treating but you never even got a chance to go to the store and get him a little pumpkin bucket for all his candy.

“Mommy is Barry coming trick or treating with us?” He asks while watching you cut into the top of the pumpkin

“Yeah sweetie he’ll be over a little later though”

“Awhhh but mommyyy I wanna talk to Barry, he’s cool” he whines before pouting

You chuckle lightly and clean out all the seeds of the pumpkin. “I know sweetie but he probably has things to do right now I’m sure he’ll call if he decides to come early”

Noah sighs a little before instantly perking back up

“Can you call him mommy? Pleaseeeeeeeee” he begs, grabbing your leg and pulling the puppy look. You just couldn’t say no to that face.

“Alright Alright I’ll call him” you say in defeat, ruffling his hair

“Yayyyyy!” He cheers

You sit the knife in the sink and wipe your hands clean of pumpkin seeds. Right before you can grab it your phone starts ringing and just your luck Barry’s calling. You smile and click the green answer button

“Hey Barry, is everything okay?” You ask softly

“Yeah yeah everything’s perfect. I uh just don’t really have anything going on right now so uh is it okay if I come over a little earlier?”

You giggle a little at his request for it being exactly what you told Noah.

“Of course barr. Noah was just asking about you”

“Really?” He asks and you had a feeling he was smiling. You could practically hear the excitement in his voice.

“Yeah he-“ Before you could finish your sentence you hear tiny footsteps approaching you from behind

“Mommy Is that Barry?!” Noah asks excitedly

Barry chuckles as he hears Noah from his end

“Yeah sweetie wanna talk to him?” You hand him the phone as he nods his head quickly. He was practically vibrating with excitement

“Hi Barry” he giggles and runs off in the living room. You shake your head with a little laugh and finish up carving pumpkin.

Hours later you were all dressed up in your costumes. Noah as The flash, you as Black widow and Barry as superman what a combination.

“Noah baby hold my hand”

He whines as he adjusts his mask

“Mommy I’m a big boy now.” He says reluctantly and you sigh

“Alright Alright but stay close to me” he cheers, holding up his pillow case.

“Okay mommy. Cmon Barry” he grabs Barry’s hand and runs to the nearest house. You watch from afar but soon you feel a chill down your spine and get the feeling of being watched. You decide to try and remain calm and brush it off.

“Uh, yeah actually I do.” He smiles and starts helping you set up around your office. You decided to make small talk with him. It’ll speed up the process.

“So Barry, what’s it like working here?” 

He chuckles when he looks over to you struggling to find the starting line of the clear tape.

“It’s pretty cool. It gets hectic from time to time but I promise you’re going to love it here y/n” He takes the tape from you and easily finds the starting line. You pout playfully as he just smirks back at you.

“Ha Ha” You joke, nudging his arm and he nudges back

“So Y/n” He says in a high pitched tone with a shake of his head, mimicking you.

“Tell me about yourself” He looks you up and down without you noticing

“Well I’m from Atlanta. I used to work at the precinct there but the case I was working on got called off and it became really stale. I wasn’t making much, so I moved here with my son Noah” He raises his brows at the word son.

“O-Oh. So you’re married?” 

“No uh I was going to get married but I caught the bastard cheating on me the morning of my wedding day so I called it off and took custody of Noah.” You say and he shakes his head disapprovingly

“Whoever he was, he is an idiot. I mean why would anyone cheat on you? You’re really beautiful and really smart” You blush as he continues to ramble about you. You reach into the last box to find it empty and you sigh.

“Well Barry apparently that wasn’t enough for him.” You smile slightly and point to the empty box

“Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it.” He just waves his hand at you dismissively

“You don’t have to thank me y/n. we’re friends now and if you don’t mind another detective and I are taking our lunch break at three today and you’re welcome to join us if you’d like” He offers and you sigh 

“Sorry Allen but Noah gets out of school at three and I have to pick him up”

“Oh well it’s okay after you pick him up you can bring him with you for lunch and then maybe back to work? It’ll be cool to give the little dude a tour of your new job” You smile at the fact that Barry was already showing you he was a good man.

“Okay. Sounds like a plan Allen” You nod and he smiles at you, staring into your eyes.

He clears his throat and rakes his fingers through his hair. 

“I uh better get back to work. Welcome to the team Y/n” He puts on a grin and you smile back s you watch him leave your office.

“Hey buddy how was school today?” You ask Noah as he climbed into the back seat and put his seatbelt on.

“It was so fun mommy! We’re having a Halloween party tomorrow. Mommy I wanna be The Flash” He says excitedly, and you chuckle softly

“Well my little speedster after mommy gets off work we can go to Party City and get you suit ok?” He squeals in excitement as your proposal.

“You’re the best mommy ever!”

Joe and Barry were at Big belly burger waiting for you and Noah. Joe notices the look on Barry’s face and the way his hands are shaking as he looked around.

“Ok spill. What’s wrong with you?” He asks while crossing his arms

“W-What? What do you mean Joe? Nothing’s wrong”

“Barry, did you forget I raised you? I know what you look like when you’re nervous so tell me what’s got you all jittery”

Right before Barry could say anything you walk in hand in hand with Noah, instantly spotting them.

“Hey guys, I came as fast as I could. Noah, these are mommy’s work friends Barry and Joe” You introduce him and suddenly he turns shy, Hiding behind you.

“Hey there slugger. We won’t hurt you” Barry smiles as Noah peeks out from behind you, a toothy grin on his face.

“H-Hi” He says quietly and Joe waves at him.

It didn’t take long for Noah to get use to them before he was back to his usual bubbly self

“Mommy’s taking me to get my costume later” He brags to Barry and Joe before stuffing fries in his mouth 

“Oh really? What are you going to be slugger?” Barry asks

“The Flash!” I’m gonna be so fast!” He says excitedly and Barry smiles softly at the boy

“Noah sweetie calm down ok? I don’t want you to choke”

“Sorry mommy”

“That’s an awesome costume bud. I bet you’ll save lots of people from all the monsters on Halloween” Barry says with his eyebrows raised and Joe just grins watching the two. He finally knew what made Barry so nervous. Barry liked you.

“Really Mr.Barry?” He gasps

“Really bud”

You wake up with a blinding light in your eyes and a pang of fear in your gut. You felt like you’ve been asleep for way too long, so you look over at your phone right next to you and jump up in panic. It’s 10 A.M you were supposed to be at work two hours ago and even worse Noah was supposed to be in school as well. You start searching in your closet in a frenzy, clothes fly everywhere until you finally decided on wearing some black slacks and a long-sleeved white shirt and flats.

It was your first day of work in a new city and this is the stunt you pull but in your defense the universe was against you for some odd reason. Stumbling your way into the bathroom you grab your toothbrush and apply the toothpaste, some slipping into the sink. You shove the toothbrush in your mouth and rush to Noah’s room to find him on the floor playing with his toy cars while still in his Pjs.

“Noah, baby c’mon you have to get ready for school” He whines in protest as you pick him up and sit him on the bed so you can find an outfit for him.

“But mommy, I thought I didn’t have to go to school today” He pouts

“Mommy just overslept sweetie. Besides you should be excited its your first day of school in a new place. You get to make friends and have fun” You say softly while dressing him

“But I’ll miss you mommy” You cup his cheeks, smiling softly at him.

“I know sweet pea, but it won’t be long ok?” He just nods as you help him put his bookbag on. You check the time as he puts on his shoes and you internally groan as the clock read 10:40 A.M you wouldn’t have time to stop for coffee or you’d be even more late.

You grab a cereal bar and give it to Noah before grabbing your workbag and heading to the car.

“Seatbelt on?” You check as you look into the rearview mirror

“I do mommy” He says, mouth stuffed with the cereal bar you gave him

“Alrighty let’s go”

Once you arrive at Noah’s school you check him in and walk him to his class

“Okay baby remember what I told you”

“I know mommy. Never be mean to the other kids and if I have a problem go to the teacher” He says quietly, and you nod before laying a kiss on his forehead.

“That’s right. I love you okay? I’ll be here at three to come get you”

“Okay mommy. I love you too” He hugs you tightly before running into his classroom and you smile as you watch him leave you.

You rush into the ccpd, struggling to carry all your bags at once. You were almost to the captain’s office until you slipped and fell onto the floor. Papers were everywhere as you cringe from the embarrassment you started to feel when everyone’s eyes were on you.

“Get back to work people there’s nothing to see here!” A booming voice says and everybody scrambles back to what they were doing.

“You must be Y/n?” The older man asked as he helped you pick up your things and you nod a little

“well y/n, you’re two hours and thirty minutes late.” He states as you pick yourself up off the floor and from that you could tell he was the captain.

“I-I know, and I am so sorry sir. I just moved in a week ago and I stayed up all night packing and ended up oversleeping this morning and then my son had to go to school and-“

“Ms. Y/L/N, It’s okay. Things happen just don’t make it a habit please. I already have CSI Allen running late every day. I’ll take you to your office.” When you made it up the stairs and into your office you finally felt relaxed. It was small but not too small. Just enough space for you to feel like you’re at home.

“I’ll send someone to help you get sorted in” You smile and say your thanks and he just nods before leaving. You bounce on the heels of your feet excitedly as you looked around. You were finally going to start living the life you promised yourself years ago. You set your bags down on the desk and start opening the boxes in front of you. It was only three small boxes containing the small stuff like picture frames and your name tag along with even smaller trinkets to go with the cup of pens on your desk.

You hear the door open, turning around to see this incredibly handsome man in front of you

“Hi, My name is Barry Allen, I’m the forensics CSI next door. You must be detective Y/L/N?” He smiles politely as he shakes your hand and you could’ve sworn you felt electricity in your hands.

“Yeah, today is my first day and please call me Y/N” You smile back

“Well y/n, Captain Singh sent me here. He said you needed help getting settled in and well I’m here to help” He winks and you already feel your crush on the CSI form.

“I can’t believe you actually talked us into this” Barry whispers as he walked through the creepy abandoned house holding your hand. Cisco voted the entire team go to a haunted house on Halloween and after weeks of begging they finally gave in. Everyone except Harry.

“Hey man it’s Halloween get in the spirit. Besides it’s just a house” he shrugs

“Yeah a house that has history Cisco. Bad history and if a ghost comes through how do you expect us to fight it?” You roll your eyes as you sassed back at him

“Look guys we’re only spending the night here and it’s only 8:00. Time will go by fast and then we’ll be back at the lab before you know it” As soon as the words left his mouth a loud crack of thunder could be heard and the lights start flickering causing you to squeeze Barry’s hand tighter.

“It’s okay baby I got you” He whispers in your ear gently. You’ve been scared of storms ever since you were little and it got really bad if Barry wasn’t by your side.

“What exactly are we gonna do to keep ourselves entertained Cisco?” Caitlin asks with a roll of her eyes. Maybe that was killerfrost.

“Tell ghost stories, play hide and seek, truth or dare? Cmon guys have you ever had fun in your lives?”

“Fine fine” You huff and sit on a broken down rocking chair.

“Let’s play hide and seek”

“I’ll be it” Says Ralph and Cisco rubs his hands together with a grin on his face

“Now this is what I’m talking about” He cheers

It’s been 10 minutes since you all started playing hide and seek. You and Barry were upstairs in an old room that had a secret door inside the closet. It was a tight space but you wanted nothing more than to snuggle into Barry anyway.

“Can’t we just leave? Cisco would never know that we left” you whisper and Barry chuckles at your little pout.

“Baby we promised Cisco we’d do this.” He said as he wraps his arms around your waist. Another loud crack of thunder could be heard and this time shook the old broken down house a little.

You whimper into his chest and he strokes your hair softly to calm you down. You were on the verge of a panic attack when a door opening sound came from outside the closet. Barry holds a finger up to his lips as his other hand continued stroking your hair.

Footsteps sounded around the room and then a yell of anger as the unknown person threw things around the room and smashed the dollhouse in the corner of the room.

“Come out here you little bitch!!” The voice screamed but it didn’t sound like Cisco, Ralph, or Caitlin.

“I’m gonna find you! You just wait until I get my hands on you!!!”

Another small whimper could be heard but this time it wasn’t from you. Your eyes widen as you looked at Barry. You didn’t want to look behind you.

Suddenly a loud scream erupted from downstairs and a glass breaking sound

Barry grabs you and flashes downstairs to see Caitlin on the floor with a glass piece from a broken plate sticking out of her chest. Cisco standing above her with blood all over his hands and his eyes were completely black as that same grin from earlier started spreading all over his face.

“Hello Friends” He growls and takes a step closer towards you and Barry

You were in shock. You couldn’t move as you stared into caits lifeless eyes. Suddenly Cisco charged at you and the lights completely go out as you try to doge his attack.

When the lights come back on Caitlin’s body was gone.

“N-No” you look around, realizing you were all by yourself.

“Barry?!” You scream. It was dark and storming outside and to top it off you were alone. You rush down the hall but stop abruptly when you notice the attic was open and legs were hanging out. You held your breath as you got closer to see it was Ralph. You scream a blood curdling scream and lightning strikes and thunder starts cracking in the sky.

You sob as you drop to your knees, shaking hard. Your nails dig into your palms as you try your hardest to calm down but it only gets worse. You start hyperventilating when you hear footsteps approaching you from behind.

“Oh y/nnnn” you hear Cisco say in a singing voice. Mocking you.

You couldn’t move. You felt something sharp poking the back of your neck and all you could do was stare into the glass case in front of you, seeing a reflection of a black shadow behind cisco. Controlling him.

“Please Cisco. Don’t do this man” Barry pleads as he sat next to cisco, cuffed in the power dampening cuffs.

“And why should I listen to you? You broke into my house so now you have to get the same treatment my family got” and with that the knife goes through your throat.

“NO!” Barry screams as he wakes up in a cold sweat. He calms down when he sees you stir in your sleep next to him. He rubs his face and look over at the time on his phone but a message caught his eye. It was from cisco.

“Wanna go to a haunted house?”

“It doesn’t bother you that she was working with thawne.” Barry states with tears in his eyes as he looked at who he thought would understand him the most, Iris.

“No. It doesn’t” She confirms

“maybe if he killed your mother in front of you you’d feel different.”

Barry sat on the steps in the training room alone, thinking about the argument he and Iris had yesterday. Out of all people his own daughter was working with the murderer who killed his mom.

“Hey.” You say softly, alerting him that you were there. You walk over and sit next to him on the steps and rub his back.

“I know it must be hard for you...to deal with something like this.” He sighs at your words and rakes his fingers through his hair.

“It was a mistake letting her stay here for so long anyway. The timeline could be ruined by now”

“Barry, this isn’t timeline talk right now. This is about you. I believe if you look at this from a different angle maybe you could find it in yourself to just listen to what Nora has to say”

“I can’t trust her anymore y/n”

“I know but Barry she’s your daughter. Put yourself in her shoes. She never met you in her time because you died and she only knew one person who could teach her how to come here and see you barr. It was thawne and if I remember correctly a certain speedster went back in time to Thawne because he needed help to get faster.” Barry nods a little while listening to you. He hated it when you were right but it was also the reason he loved to ask you about certain things. You’re always there for him whenever he needs you. You drop everything for him.

“All I’m saying is give her a chance to explain herself. Doing the wrong thing for the right reasons is always the case. She just needs a little guidance is all” He turns to you with a look of awe on his face and you smile softly

“What?”

“I-I wish you were her mother” your eyes widen a little before you let out a small chuckle

“You and I both know you don’t mean that. You’ve been in love with Iris your entire life” He scoffs and rolls his eyes. For a second he didn’t say anything else until he grabs your hand and helps you up.

“Where are we going?”

“You’ll see”

Barry sets you down on your feet gently and you look around and notice some gadgets from old meta encounters.

“Why are we in the archives?”

He never answers you. He walks to the other side of the room and starts digging through a pile of empty boxes until he pulls out an old wooden jewelry box. He opens it and pulls out a huge stack of paper.

“What is that?”

“Letters. Every single one of them are to you. I wrote them the day before we redid the particle accelerator explosion to get my powers back. I just wrote out how I felt and what I wanted to say to you since the day we met y/n. You have a special place in my heart and I know-“

Barry was surprised when he felt the warmth and softness of your lips against his. He’d always imagine this in his head but the real thing was even better until reality slapped him in the back of the head. He was still married to Iris.

You pull away panting softly, trying to catch your breath. It was silent as the both of you stared into each other’s eyes.

“How about this be our little secret until we figure this crisis thing out? It can stay here in the archives until we have the time to pick up where we left off” you wink at him with a grin on your face before leaving him there standing in shock.

You had to get Barry back. You couldn’t let him get hurt. It’s been hours since Ragdoll took him. Currently you and the team were trying to figure out how to get him back.

“We need to save him!” You yell, this entire situation has you on edge. The more everyone kept thinking of ideas the more time was being wasted. Who knows what happened by now.

“Y/n calm down okay? we’re doing everything we can just please be patient”

You quickly grab a meta gun and rush out carefully, not wanting to alert the team.

“Suffering can’t be stopped. Especially hers” Ragdoll says menacingly while getting closer to Barry’s face.

“If you touch Y/n” He snarls, giving the same attitude back to the creepy meta.

“You’ll what?” Barry could tell he was smirking behind the porcelain mask

“Leave him alone!” You demand as you aim the gun at his back

“Ahh Mrs.Allen” Ragdoll crawls over to you, twisting his body all kinds of ways

“Y/n you shouldn’t be here!” Barry yells, eyes widening but you didn’t have time to go back and forth with him right now you needed to do something.

“Just let him go” you stand your ground. You weren’t going to let him see your fear

He tilts his head to the side. “Okay”

He pushes the chair over the building and your eyes widen as you let out a scream

“Barry!!” You jump after him, panicking on the inside. While still free falling you uncuff him and he wraps his arms around you tightly and the both of you close your eyes, expecting to hit the ground but you don’t instead you land on a puddle of...ralph?

Ralph transforms back to his normal self after you and Barry got back on your feet.

“Y/n what were you thinking? You could’ve died”

“I wasn’t. There was no time for that. You’re my husband. Did you really think I was gonna stand there and watch you die?” You ask quietly, wrapping your arms around his neck.

“I love you crazy” he chuckles and you giggle before pulling him into a kiss

“I was literally falling for you” you sat with a smile and Barry grins before scooping you up in his arms and flashing home

Crossing Paths—Chapter Twelve (End)

Months later Hayden was born. He was 7pounds and 11 ounces. Barry was out on a mission while you were home asleep. You felt wetness underneath you which woke you up and the contractions started. That was a crazy day for everyone. Barry was freaking out more than usual but soon he felt at peace when he had his baby boy in his arms.

Now that Hayden was born Barry was even more alert. Devoe wanted his son and he was definitely not going to let that happen.

You were asleep in bed while Barry was showing Hayden off to Joe.

“Yep this is my boy” he says excitedly as Hayden looked at Joe

“Of course you can Joe” he gently hands Hayden over to him and the older man smiles as Hayden gurgles in his arms.

“How do we know you’re not lying?” Barry asks, he didn’t want to make any mistakes

“He’s not here with me now is he? He’s surely gone Mr. Allen” Barry flashes her in the pipeline.

“You’re staying in here until we know you’re telling the truth.” She just nods, understanding his motives.

The team went to Devoes lair in the pocket dimension and it was true Devoe was gone. His body or bodies of all his victims were laid out on the floor. It’s over.

Barry is finally done with all the hell Devoe put him through and now he can protect his family in peace. He’ll be damed if anything happened to you and Hayden.

“I’m gonna head home guys y/n is expecting me” he says while putting on his jacket
