SO👏 I work in a library and every year we strive to do pride displays, but theres a certain group of assholes who will check out the majority of our queer non fic for the soul purpose of gatekeeping that information from the public.
SO I WAS WONDERING if any of you lovely internet people had online resource suggestions, or potentially any pdf booklets full of queer information I could print out?

Anti-intellectual attitudes are on the rise on social media, the billionaires who run these apps are banking on people being uneducated or uninterested in education slipping from their fingers. So now is a good time to invest time into following accounts that teach you things, engaging with their content, and most importantly LEARNING.
Communal learning is inherently anti-fascist. Give them hell.

I found a good video about this divide actually. I agree with what was said towards the end. That while it's possible that China becomes more aggressive, it has not typically been a warmonger but an at times ruthless problem solver that seeks to end what it sees as internal conflicts and stymie external aggression:

We really need to find a way to puncture the common social media misconception that giving to individual fundraisers is "better" or "does more" than giving to organized charities. Not only does this make you incredibly susceptible to scammers, but it's also just not true! Organizations are really good at making money go further than just handing it to an individual. Your same amount of money benefits a lot more people. For instance, food banks are really good at buying food in bulk, and get special discounts that only apply to them, in a way that just isn't possible for your average poor individual.
Assuming you're giving to a legitimate charity of course, but there are ways to check this (Charity Navigator) that do not exist with every individual online claiming to need help.
This does not mean that you should never give to an individual. Throw money at your actual friends who are in a bind, for sure. Give to the homeless people you see around you when you go outside. That's fine. But this idea that giving to individuals is superior is wrong, and I think a lot of you just need to admit to yourself that it's because giving to a person feels more personal, and therefore more "meaningful" to our monkey-brains, than giving to an organization. "One death is a tragedy, a million is a statistic" and all that.

I know people don't come to my Tumblr for political takes, so sorry for that, and I'm hardly an expert, but I do think the acceleration you see of the USA Republicans embracing christofascism, and the West trying to stoke the fires of nationalism, is their fear of China. Are these fears baseless? Not exactly but certainly oligarchs and religious nationalists are most at threat if the balance of power tips in China's favor.
I'd have said 6 months ago that China was a threat to democracy, but since the USA has turned to authoritarianism and I've since learned how powerful the Heritage Foundation is, I find it hard to fault China's counter narrative that the US was never democratic and was always an extreme imperialistic hegemony.
Ultimately what we are seeing is a clash of two global superpowers that are at complete odds with each other. The USA is a Western Capitalist political system. China is an Eastern Communist political system. The USA is extremely Christian. China hates religious extremism and blames it for the worst of Western Colonialism and social disharmony. China poses more than an economic threat to the USA, it also poses a deeply existential one. They are a giant refutation of American exceptionalism and Communism's failings.
This war probably could have been avoided, and it remains to be seen if it still can be, but my theory is it'll lay in the West working with China as an equal rather than trying to subjugate them. Trump attempting to bring them to heel was only ever going to have them dig their heels in further.

Former US Democratic Secretary of Transport, Pete Buttigieg, is at the moment going around MAGA friendly podcasts to explain how the government works, what it can achieve for people, and why Trump's approach is damaging and authoritarian. He's very good at meeting them where they are (I couldn't), is genuine and heartfelt about his own struggles as a gay man formerly in the army, and recognizes that one of the most important jobs the Dems have now is deprogramming 1/3 of a population that has been brainwashed by far right populist disinformation.
This is an interesting thing. Looks like testimonies of people who left the MAGA movement- how they got into it and why.
Leaving a cult is really hard, so I really respect the people who are speaking from this place.
