Dropping the latest Sketch-a-Wish, voted on by my lovely Patreon members for April! A scene from The Wicked King by Holly Black, Cardan and Jude pledging their troth.

This scene was nondescript on the type of flowers that were blooming in the king's chambers as they were professing their vows to each other. But given how they were both adamant that their marriage would be utilitarian and short lived, I feel like the room blooming over head was a sign that it was more permanent than they realized, hence the wisteria and its meaning. 🤭

Calling all Brits on this hellsite.

We all saw Elon Musk do the nazi salute at the Trump inauguration. We know that he is influencing and fanning the flames of right wing political parties.

And that very well may include ours.

Because Elon Musk has pledged to donate $100 million to the Reform party. He has since mentioned that it might be hard to give such a large sum now.

But I don’t think we should take our chances. And I think we can agree that letting billionaires influence our countries politics is a terrible idea.

If you also agree here’s a link to a Parliament petition.

It calls for the government to remove loopholes that allow wealthy foreign individuals to make donations into UK political parties (e.g. by funnelling through UK registered companies).

As it is a parliament petition the government are required to debate it in parliament. But for that to happen it needs to reach 100,000 signatures.

Non British folk I’m afraid you guys can’t sign but I encourage you guys to reblog so that more people can see this.

Deep in the heart of the human lands, past the walls no Fae have crossed in centuries, tucked away in the royal gardens of one kingdom, lies a statue.

A relic from many generations ago, it has survived remarkably well. They— the studious groundskeepers and few nobles who come upon it— say that little is known about the curious monument with no known names or titles. Most suspect it to be a statement to the near-immortal race the humans had fought and won their freedom from in the War. Some even boasting that they knew it to be stolen from the Fae before the Wall went up. A trophy with a message carved into the stone should those cursed creatures ever set sight upon it again.

But it was none of those things.

A secret commission by Queen Andromache shortly after returning home from victory, the task went largely unnoticed during the extensive reconstruction period in the kingdom. Only she knew what her intent behind the memorial had been and only one other could ever understand— was the only one who ever had.

When choosing what words, if any, should be engraved, many titles came to mind: warrior, ally, queen in her own right, ambassador, friend, love. They all fit, but none encompassed her unresolved feelings or the person at the root of them.

So these words spilled forth as a silent-yet-defiant declaration to the world (to her) and a reassurance to herself as the years passed.

Maybe she wasn’t blessed or cursed with immortality, but this… this memory will remain.

Mor Week Day 4: Armor

Mor simply does not get enough recognition and respect for being an insanely powerful, tried and tested warrior. She's so much more than a girl in a red dress drinking wine, so I commissioned this absolutely stunning piece from @bloodexer show Mor as the fearsome badass she is. All I hope is we get more of her power and strength in the next books!!

An Afternoon at Athelwood

Early-morning mist hung between the bumps and hollows of the sprawling estate. Her estate. Athelwood.

Digital art and animation are still a very new medium for me and landscapes/architecture even more so, but I tried to do this safe place justice 💖

Inspiration came from the art style that embodies comfy homes and the first breath of freedom best: Studio Ghibli!

@morweekofficial DAY 1: GOLD!! Decided to start the week off with a collage of things I associate with Mor, with a gold-leaning theme - including a thread for her future mate, because she deserves one 💛

Some random notes -

-I imagine her as being part Turkish and part Irish; I imagine the night court as the Ottoman empire, hence the Turkiye shirt, Lokum, and Ottoman inspired shield and slippers

-The pennant is the Sapphic flag! Taking "I prefer females" at face value, it seems like Mor is homoromantic/bisexual, but as a bi woman myself I have a feeling that was just Sarah's way of euphemising her coming out or making it old timey (the words Lesbian/Bi/Gay don't exist in Prythian so it's not like she could just say that lol). Until we get more info idk exactly what she was intended to be, so for now I'm just calling her sapphic :)

Two of the most iconic Eastern PA business chains are Rita's Italian Ice and Redner's Markets... Sarah lived in Eastern PA for over a decade... there are businesses in two of her books called Rita's and Redner Industries... coincidence? I think not ! Just had to get that out there as a Pennsylvanian lol it's all I think about when I think about Rita's the bar

A New Home

@morweekofficial day 2: home

after mor is found at the autumn/winter border the high lord of night initially agrees to let her stay in the family home in velaris until she is healed. when tensions between him and keir start to escalate over his errant daughter's whereabouts, the high lord chooses his steward over his niece and sends mor into exile in the winter court. while she is not allowed to return to the night court or see her family as long as the old high lord still lives, she finds a new purpose in winter.

staying with one of the high lord's closest advisors, she is finally allowed to pick up a sword herself and train with the warriors of the winter court army, which has always allowed females to join. she learns to master her powers and finds her true strength. in the war against hybern she fights for her new home, the winter court, joining the alliance of day, night and dawn on the continent. when she returns, she is legend. she is the morrigan. every child in winter knows her name.

in winter, she also finds one of her closest companions outside of the night court in viviane, her host's young daughter whom she gets to see grow up after the war and whom she loves like a sister, as well as viviane's friend kallias, the younger brother of the winter court's general.

she only returns to the night court after her uncle, aunt and cousin die and rhysand, now high lord of night, asks her to come back and help him rebuild their court of dreams.

mor's dress here is inspired by some traditional mongolian clothing. i pull most of my inspiration for winter court styles from inuit, sámi and mongolian culture. i see her picking up red as her signature color in the winter court specifically because of how much the red stands out against the white snow.
