The Porcelain Mask Broke-Origanal Poem
There was a girl that lived across from me.
everyone who saw her knew she was scared of nothing and there word could never hurt her.
everyone who knew her knew she had fears.
But only she knew what others words and opinions meant to her.
When people saw her they saw a stone statue immune to words
But when she looked in the mirror she saw a glass doll,
who was sculpted in others images
but with many cracks along her surface,
Too many to count.
But no one ever say as she covered it with a porcine mask,
Crafted with a permanent smile.
But even the mask began to crack under weight of the world.
She sat in class with her porcelain mask on.
But each cruel word thrown at her put another small crack in the mask.
But no one ever looked close enough to see that her
tears,
her frown,
and her scars
where peeking through the mask...
One day I looked out my window
across from me
only to see the porcelain mask in two laying beside
the shattered girl.
The girl who lived across from me is no longer there
She now lays amidst the dirt,
But her broken pieces still stuck everywhere.
