I write fanfiction and poetry. I'm pretty chill. Used to be more cynical than I am now. I don't remember where the name came from. This world is pretty shit right now

Things I find myself doing while writing fanfiction
*furiously scrolling through the wiki timeline so you can figure out if the scene you just wrote is even possible
*furiously searching for reasons to justify your AU because what you wrote is no longer canonically possible
*endlessly searching the wiki page for that one character to find a detail that only the most dementedly obsessed fan will notice just for the satisfaction of getting that specific detail right
*googling for prices of stuff from decades ago so that your flashback is not only canonically accurate but historically accurate as well
*rewriting scenes because stuff is not invented yet for your scene set hundreds of years in the future(looking at you star wars)
*writing up an entire backstory for that one thing that doesn't have an exact timeline because consistency dammit!
*searching through the backstory you wrote so that you don't shoot yourself in the face by contradicting your own fanon
*reading through your own fic for the tenth time because you've forgotten what one character was doing five chapters back and now need to figure out where they ended up at this point
*reading through your own fic for the tenth time because you forgot what you had intended to do with that one character who was going to be plot significant, and now you're stuck sherlock holmesing your way through the plot so you can remember enough to complete the next chapter's draft
*rewriting half the story because you just read this super amazing fanfic that is fifty times better than anything you wrote but it has this super sensible point that you hadn't thought of but can't ignore
*rewriting half the story because you just read this stupidly shitty fanfic that is fifty times worse than anything you wrote but it has this super sensible point that you hadn't thought of but can't ignore

Thinking back to all those hopeful fanfic writers that have all the motivation and energy to write and publish till the end of the first major canon arc and then slink off ignominiously because they never thought they'd get that far and now have to grapple with having climbed the tower with no way to move forward or backward.
I hear you brothers and sisters.
It's a pain so many of us share.
Don't give up hope!
Fortitude!
I haven't given up, and so neither can you!
Even if it's incomplete garbage scribbled into a text document, it exists and so is eternal

Had a thought on why we see even senior Klingon officers go for the bird of prey when larger ships are available. Looking at you DS9....
So why do many Klingons prefer this over the larger ships? It comes back to honor, and glory. To defeat a larger foe with a smaller ship is glorious. To die in battle against a larger foe is honorable. To the Klingon mind, fighting in a B'rel against a Galaxy class and losing is not the height of foolishness. It would be an epic that will be sung of in Stovokor as they triumphantly sail into the Klingon afterlife. But if they win? Glory to your house indeed...

The Cardassians are the WW2 Italy of Star Trek. They want an empire. They're actually pretty weak, even if they have a lot of manpower. They abuse their colony to stupid levels. They ally with the great military power in the "big war". They switch sides when said power begins to demand more. And in the end, they're "victors". Though admittedly, Dukat is definitely a much more interesting character than Mussolini.

I believe that a bunch of stuff written by some rando with unusual CHA stats a long time ago shouldn't dictate what I believe

Starships need shitters. USS Enterprise is a great ship, but you're shit out of luck when the brown note comes ringing. Phasers and photon torpedoes are useless compared to the palace of Versailles levels of shit that is the Federation Starship. Explains why the Galaxy class is so large. They need the space between baryon sweeps

I wish AO3 had a kudos for each chapter option, with something like an average kudos per chapter metric. Like, there's nothing that deflates my enthusiasm more than clicking the kudos button and seeing that I've already left kudos there. Like butterchucker I know I left kudos there. I want to ducking leave more!
