I reject the "Most literature is and was ephemera, actually" argument out of hand. It's all that deep. It's all profound and worthy of study, and all of it that hasn't or won't survive deserves to be mourned. *Especially* the bad books. *Especially* the ones that stink on ice and nobody likes.
