No Scion | No Endringers | Things are very different

Capes exist for a much much longer time in this universe.

Dragon is a fully realized individual who has managed to gain enough trust from the institutions to walk around in a human-looking suit and have a citizenship status. She had been active for at least 40 years as a cape when she adopted Taylor.

Defiant is already 46yo with a lengthy and also complicated history as a cape, he used to be a paralympic athlete before he triggered. Though his suit helps with the job, he doesn't like to use it at home.

Taylor was 7 when the accident that killed her parents happened, she was there and got stuck in the wreckage with their decaying bodies for 3 days, drinking from the rain and the puddles that formed around her. She could only hear the bugs at night and they were the only thing available for her to mentally call when nobody came.

Defiant and Dragon had been together for at least 15 years when they adopted Taylor.

Taylor went to stay in a specialized foster home for young capes after losing her parents, she met Lisa and Alec there.

Alec wasn't actually an orphan, but was taken by the state due to his father's crimes.

Lisa was a runaway.

Taylor was 10 when she was adopted. The first thing she said to her new parents was how healthy their garden was due to the types of bugs around it.

Not every type of person could adopt a cape kid. Dragon and Defiant were big names and they were trusted.

Dragon made sure that Lisa and Alec had permission to visit their house on weekends so Taylor didn't lose her only friendships.

Taylor met Brian and Aisha when she started her karate classes.

Dragon researched obsessively before adopting and made Taylor a playlist to listen to whenever she was struggling to sleep. Taylor listened to the songs on repeat even during the day.

Taylor would create clouds of bugs during her worst tantrums but it didn't work on her parents, they weren't scared or affected, she would then change tactics and use it only for the dramatics of it.

Taylor is legally blind, her eyesight is extremely bad, she got used to using her bugs to navigate around but wears glasses to read.

Dragon struggles not to spoil Taylor. It's just too easy for her to get the girl whatever she wants. Dragon has the money, the influence and the intelligence to get anything. Yet she knows it'll hurt Taylor in the end, so she just rants on her husband's headphones when she wants to buy something unimportant for their child and she can't. He thinks her dilemma is delightful.

I personally find Taylor Hebert a tough character to write, so the problem of her being OOC in most fics doesn't bother me. I understand the struggle. I've been writing fics since childhood, and writing Taylor is something that I'm *very* hesitant to do.

The dread I felt reading the end of worm, seeing Taylor slowly losing her grasp with language and humanity, it was one of the most disturbing moments I ever had reading anything.

I felt her slipping away.

The way she thought that people were fighting when they were celebrating

This poor girl couldn't even have the reward of CELEBRATING their victory! She was just scared and psychotic! She had gone too fucking far.

This is impossibly heartbreaking

I will forever think about this loss, this loss of soul, of the self

And for those who love to say that the Epilogue is just Taylor's hallucination before death: FUCK YOU, it's real and she's about to have a good life! Hallucinations don't fucking work like that. It makes no sense. I will NOT be hearing anything else about this. 😌

One of the plot points that I hate the most in canon is that all it took for Scion to go apeshit was for him to spent a few seconds close to the lamest fucker on earth and he just went "ya know what, you're right, jack". Seriously? Is this how things ends? Feels so pathetic and undeserved

I feel impossibly conflicted about this because the level of deranged that Taylor became after this (she was already losing it, but this sent her over the edge and fucked EVERYTHING). And I think I would prefer if Dinah wasn't fully aware of exactly how things would play out.

I'm sorry, but change is not achieved by butterflies and love songs. The paradox of tolerance is clear.

Taylor's problem is that she keeps escalating to absurd degrees later on. And I acknowledged that on text.

But right then, in those examples I gave, she was 100% justified. It's the criminal world. People don't kiss and make up. And these people I mentioned are undeniably awful. They'll fight to kill or get killed, so Taylor does what she has to do.

Killing or doing whatever is possible to stop them is not "delusional justification", these, as I said, are literal characters who caused an immense amount of pain to vulnerable communities and wouldn't stop unless something or someone stopped them. But of course we can just ignore that and treat everybody with hearts and sparkles because the world is beautiful and kind, a beautiful speech if def enough to change someone like Bakuda's heart.

Listening to some podcasts it's wild to me to hear people bearing down some of Taylor's actions like she wasn't doing those things to ACTUAL DESPICABLE PEOPLE.

I just hate the purity culture of it all, like, are yall really criticizing someone for not going easy on NAZIS, SLAVE OWNERS, ABUSERS etc??? Boohoo, poor them

I constantly imagine Bonesaw/Riley with the quirks, voice and looks of an actual baby faced little girl. The sweetest, most endearing look ever, which makes her actions such a ride. Whenever they mention she giggling, I don't imagine a creepy kid laugh, I imagine a normal kid laugh, and that's actually worse.
