ouugghh Aureate animatic of middling quality. i call it The Dream Sequence, for uh. obvious reasons

this thing's haunted me for some weeks now, i did the audio a bit back and decided yesterday to get it done. well, "done". might polish it, might not, either way, it exists now. What is it? Good question, because I don't know! well, an Aureate animatic in any case, but whether it's Ori forgiving himself on some subconscious level (or trying to anyway), Sans still existing in some way (or having existed but finally going away) or some secret 3rd option, I haven't actually figured it out and it's not super relevant since Ori wouldn't get to know either.

some notes: the little gold guy form isn't Ori's preferred, or even what he really views himself as, he just doesn't have many options and when faced with the actual owner of his current body his dream self reverts to that old self. really, that form only has connotations of weakness and helplessness, so it's pretty far down his list of preferred forms. what's a bit backwards about Ori's behaviour is that the whole bodysnatching thing is probably one of the bad things he's done that's the least his fault, but it's what he regrets the most. the end is uh, well he's probably not gonna hurt himself (Nightmare would stop him in any case) but he's gonna be looking at his soul reeeaal hard

i was trying to think of something to draw about dustyscarf but honestly head empty. i figured something with reflections or mirrors would be cool so. frozen pond. it would make more sense for dust to be the one fully visible but i started to draw geno and went "i'll draw it both ways" and i then i didn't. anyway unless i get struck by inspiration i'm going back to drawing my ocs 👍

a bunch of aureate drawings i've made at some point, and a "good end" aureate where everything goes fine and alphys makes a robot body for him. idk about the colors because he does already have assigned colors but more neutral might be better so that he has more freedom with clothes. notes on the robot under the cut

their gender might be more ambiguous like this because not being in a body that's generally seen as male might put a bit of a delay on using non-they/them pronouns. also in this timeline there's 2 pairs of besties that consist of a skeleton and a ghost with a robot body made by alphys, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice. and also it's funny that mettaton is a monster that wanted a fairly human-like robot body while ori's a former human that wanted more monster-ish features.

So. Aureate animatic. The timeline on this is a bit weird, but mostly it's just because there's a flashback in the middle. His toyhouse page has the lore, I'm not gonna start writing a whole explanation here. Some frames under the cut

So, for over a month now I've been what I think is the most obsessed with an oc of mine I've ever been. Naturally, it's caused by making an oc that's also a character I like (kind of). Presenting Aureate, aka Gildedtale Sans, aka not actually a Sans at all and the AU is just a timeline divergence. A soul from "our world" that somehow ended up in the void and due to that lost all their memories (the memories are still there, but they can't be reached unless they're relevant. So basic life knowledge came back fairly easily while personal stuff's basically gone forever) got into the universe via Sans. They ended up befriending him and then in a desperate situation tried to let him absorb them, but it kinda went the other way around instead.

He goes into the multiverse at the first opportunity for fun and to avoid his problems, and the opportunity in question is giving Nightmare an elevator pitch when he turns up in Ori's universe. It blows up in Ori's face very quickly when it turns out that there's Sanses everywhere which actually makes avoiding his problems significantly harder. And being on a "team" makes not caring about people also unlikely.

He fights gods for fun (and loses), causes problems, has a mental breakdown every other week, flirts badly and tries to act confident when he hates himself (he's in denial about it though. he's in denial about a lot). I'm getting so much more done than I ever have because of him.

Ori gets a crush on Killer by getting pinned in a spar. Nobody is happy about this (well, Killer gets an instant win tactic against Ori, so maybe he is)

instead of doing many other productive things, i've found myself wasting away with the sisyphean task of updating my ocs references. tbh around the last two i've started to run out of gas but i gotta get these done and the lack of proper turnarounds isn't actually really affecting the amount of information given
