ten years ago i was writing fics where characters were mourning deaths of friends, or trying to heal from traumatic battles

two months ago i wrote a fic where characters go on a roadtrip, bicker about their adventures on social media, and commit light breaking and entering (for a good cause)

Last night for the first time in two years I posted a fic on AO3 (a gift for @captivated-by-books) and when I just checked - less than 24 hours later - it has 50 kudos. It's such a warm and validating feeling 🥰

Ok, but Sally changed the locks and the box was left outside. They showed in ep 1 that Gabe answered her phone, she probably knew he’d open Percy’s mail. I would like to think Sally got her murder in a more Disney friendly way.

forget everything else, the character development i’m most excited for is percy going from crashing a car more than driving it to riding on a fucking motorcycle with a passenger on the back (will) through manhattan like a whole boss with absolutely no casualities involved (himself or otherwise). now this is levelling up idk.

once jason remembers the exact location of camp jupiter and is able to provide it to the others, everyone's like we have to wait until leo is finished his giant boat then we'll go to camp jupiter and get percy, and grover's like cool beans, understood, 100% gonna wait for the giant boat to be finished, anyway i gotta go do a lord of the wild thing, don't wait up, bye!

cue him staking out camp jupiter with a pair of binoculars for a few weeks, seeing nico pop in and out, bothering him abt it and then abt percy who nico genuinely hasn't seen yet, and bing bang boom percy finally shows up carrying hera/juno on his back and grover's just "alrighty, my time to shine" and careens into him at full speed once percy's past the river and juno is just "wait is that the goat"

percy, no memories but a strong gut feeling: i think you're my best friend

grover on the verge of tears: WE ARE BEST FRIENDS

percy, clueless but enjoying the hug: oh my gods that's fucking awesome

This is so real. I mean, just let me listen to evermore without hearing the verbal equivalent of a thinkpiece dissecting Taylor Swift's microexpressions at a sports game. Sometimes listening to music is just listening to music - it's not an expression of extreme devotion or hatred. Celebrity culture needs to chill out.

is anyone else tired of every conversation turning back to taylor swift. i am a swiftie and im tired. no one is ever NORMAL about her. you can’t JUST “like” her music. you either have to LOVE her or HATE her and that’s not realistic. why don’t people see that i can enjoy her music and still criticize her? why don’t people see that i can criticize her and still enjoy her music? we used to be a country

Can a nice Marvel comics fan please explain to me:

Do you think the MCU's problem with character arcs and compelling motivations due to picking plot points and sorting through the chaos that is eight decades of overlapping, retconning, parallel storylines in Marvel comics, or is it a function of something getting lost in translation to screen? Is it a difference between medium, or is the studio more concerned about their well-documented spoiler paranoia than, I dunno, telling a story?

(I know that they care about raking in that Marvel MoneyTM more than paying the people who make those movies, and I don't doubt that has something to do with it, but I am specifically asking here about the relationship between the comics and the screen)
