they don’t know that they’re water and fire benders :0 ray and maya were fugitives from the fire nation, maya a water tribe warrior and ray a fire nation deserter, whomst fell in love and after years of fighting the fire nation together, settled down in the earth kingdom as blacksmiths and kept their respective bending secret. maya died of illness when the kids were young, and ray was so stricken by grief that he was a pretty absent father before disappearing one day when the kids are around 12 & 14, leaving then to run the shop on their own and take care of themselves

I love and appreciate fanfic authors, but I read their notes and I have to wonder what fucked up shit they did in a past life to make god hate them so much. Like why do the worst things happen to fanfic authors and they just brush over it. I’ll be reading a fluffy fic and the notes will be “hey sorry the fic is late both my parents died, I’m in hospital right now, and my house burnt down. anyway hope u enjoy this chapter!!“ bro???? Are you okay?????
